  2. Not long ago, you posted a thread about what needed to be improved on the .308 ARs - what you've just mentioned above is something I honestly didn't even think about. I'd like to see a comp/brake that outperforms something like a BABC or a Spike's Dynacomp, like what you mentioned as the "third" option above. Reduce muzzle rise by 50%, reduce recoil by 50% (obviously, compared to what's out there), and maybe have a closed bottom, so it's not going to raise a hellish dust signature. That, right there, would be cool. <thumbsup> When are the lightweight .308 barrels going to be ready? Would the barrel diameter forward of the gas port be 0.750" I'd love to get my hands on one of these, so I could build a lighter-weight 16" .308 AR, and make that sucker a Dissipator. Simple, plenty of handquard, solid FSB, then flash suppressor. Short enough, mean, and nasty. <dontknow>
  3. MaDuce, I can check the interchange of the parts on a LR Pmag and a stock DPMS mag for you - I can accomplish that. I don't have any AR-10 mags to check against. Honestly, if you want to send me an AR-10 mag, I'll see what I can do to get some LR Pmag parts into it. I'll send the AR-10 mag right back to you. <thumbsup>
  4. heminut, I'm about to turn my 318 Magnum into a 390 stroker - and it's in a truck. I'm going to try to stay away from higher compression and keep it on cheap pumpgas, if I can find a combination of combustion chamber CCs in a factory offering, that will support that. I'll do custom dished pistons through CP Pistons if I have to (connection there), before I start cutting on the chambers to increase their volume. It's all about the math, at this point. I just want the torque for towing, but I won't mind the HP increase in the least... ;D I can't wait to roast some 35" tires on a big, stupid 4WD truck. <lmao> Sorry, man - you brought out the Mopar in me... <laughs>

  8. Make sure you lightly lube up the inside of the receiver extension, as far as you can get a finger in there. Lightly lube the outside of the buffer body, and the outside of the buffer spring, too. You'd be amazed at how much "resistance" there is, in cycling the action, when those parts are BONE dry (especially on a brand new semi-auto). After shooting a bit, lube eventually gets back in there anyway, but that's an area that not too many people realize or think about, and it can give you cycling issues on a brand new build. <thumbsup>
  9. ALL carbine buffers are the same length, be it AR-15 or .308 AR (RRA stuff doesn't count...). AR-15 carbine H3 buffers are direct swaps for Armalite AR-10 carbine buffers - size and weight identical. DPMS LR-308 carbine buffers are lighter, and will benefit from running the heavier Armalite component, or an AR-15 H3 carbine buffer. ALL Rock River .308 stuff is different. From HeavyBuffers.com:
  10. Very, very true. That's a sad ending to a great recollection of damn good memories, brother. I spent more than 21 years with hardly any time for family - I'd talk to them and see them when I had the time, but I was more busy, than I had time to do that. I'm trying to make up for it now, over the past 4 years.

Roger - it's truly a dedicated .22 upper, instead of them just sticking an adapter in the AR-15 upper - no gas tube to become fouled and have to clean lead deposits out of. <thumbsup> The dedicated collar on the end of the barrel feeds much better than the older style, with the .223-casing-looking adapter on the front of the .22 "BCG." Awesome stuff.

  21. I was running around Panama like a wildman. Time flies. :o Started out at Tocumen Intl Airport, went to Rio Hato after that, then to David, then into Panama City. What a wild ride.
  22. Oly barrels have always been good, brother - they have that down. Same kind of thing here, I've got a 16" carbine, and that thing is WAY more accurate than you'd expect out of it - great barrel. It's been shot so much over the years, and I have no idea what the round count is. It still get it done, very well. <thumbsup>
  23. I know, man - his .45s are up there. I was VERY surprised to see the price listings on his new barrel for the 7.62x40, and even more surprised to see that he makes a few barrels for the "competition," the 300 BLK. Those are pretty low (or fair) priced also. That's class. <thumbsup>
