I got tracking numbers on the 3 things I'm waiting on for this EPC-9, to test-fire it. BCG gets here Friday, but we'll already be out there by a full day. The barrel label was created, the rail label was created - both awaiting pickup, so no delivery info available yet. At least with this Space Baby available today, I can get some good mags that are ready to go, right from Noveske, for that 1st one. I have 10 UZI 32-rd mags that I picked up surplus, and modified them. Marking the template, and cutting those bastards - that truly sucks.

Did I REALLY just slip up like that and out my OWN SELF?!... I think I did... Here's where the NEXT AR-9 is, for progression - Battle Arms Development 9mm BCG is on the way, Ballistic Advantage 8.3" barrel on the way, GunTec USA rail on the way: I don't think the parts for it will get here for next weekend, though. So, shooting it will have to happen later. I don't imagine that everything will show up by Wednesday, or even Thursday. If the stuff does make it, I'm already planning on stealing the red dot from Pinky, just to shoot this thing...

The Noveske Space Baby is available on 29 March... so, in the next 20 minutes?... Looks alot like my first AR-9, but with a shorter 5"-ish barrel. This one is an 8" barrel.

Great news, right?! Yes, in a way - if you buy load manuals. I do. N What this means, though, if you don't buy manuals, and search for load data online... Hornady only has the Errata Data page up, to include NEW load information that is not in their latest printed hardcover manual. All the Errata Data goes away, immediately upon offering the new hardcover manual for sale. This data right here, all this stuff came out AFTER the publication of the (current latest) Hornady 10 Manual. That's the one reason it's here on their website. https://www.hornady.com/support/load-data/ So, what I'm saying is simple - if any of you load (or anticipate loading) any of the cartridges on that webpage, but do NOT intend to buy the new Hornady 11 Manual - then you better save those load-data pages before that book is published. Once it's available, that info will be in it - and that web page will be blank. The next thing to pop up on that webpage will be the next new cartridge, after the 11 Manual hits the shelves.

Pretty damn great idea, man!

I might switch to that. Great idea. Function test this weekend, with the spring change, maybe another (Red) spring change after that. It runs great, and has for years. Just once in awhile it doubles up. Once I solve that, it's done. It only doubled on people that had lazy trigger fingers, but the concern was that it did it in the first place, lazy finger or not...

Chillin' in the Reloading Shed, making sure I've got all my shiit together for next weekend. I've got this looping while I crank out 5.56 right now...

These Odin adjustable buffers are pretty damn cool. I'm glad they did this. Makes tuning and checking a whole lot easier. My old Olympic Arms AR-45 might end up getting my Odin AR15 Heavy adjustable buffer - we'll see. It used to double up sometimes with an H3 and stardard carbine spring. Now it's got a Sprinco Orange in there, and the H3. If it doubles up again with this combo, I'll try the Red spring and see. After that - the Odin heavy goes in there. The Oly Arms setup uses a different bolt/BCG configuration - it's not a flat-faced BCG like other pistol stuff out there - it actually has a bolt in it that's non-reciprocating - roll=pinned into the BCG body, just a standard AR15 BCG. Because of that, if you use a PCC-specific longer heavy buffer, it won't lock back on the bolt face, it'll only lock lack on the BCG body - not enough BCG travel to lock it back right, with a pistol buffer. So, you're stuck with a 3.250" buffer to get it to cycle right.

This is gonna be a BAD GRENDEL, brother.

Verifying I'm on the right path - gas port dia.

18" rifle gas for a .308 Win round needs 0.093"~0.096" to run right, with the 0.750 gas block journal size. -
Barrel Gas Port Size,308/338/260/243 etc.

That's gonna work, brother. -
One of the baddest modern rock songs ever. Ever.

Sprinco RED spring for this bitch, brother. I have one standing by, to test next week. I know you'll need it for this thing.

Like, next weekend.

GOD DAYUM GOOD THING!!! That they CLOSED the subway system. That beaver would kill everyone IN that fucking place. EVERYONE. They did the right thing, shutting it down - saved the entire city. Those motherfuckers are Cujo, in a smaller body. With bigger front teeth, to rip you apart with. Fuk 'em all. Oil-furred waterproof motherfuckers.

AZ, my man. Stupid hot summers, but paradise for 9 months out of the year. If you get this way, let me know. We'll shoot at my SDTF - Secret Desert Test Facility. You don't even need to bring guns or ammo - got that part covered. An overview of the SDTF... Pic acknowledgement to @blue109, for demonstrating his shooting prowess for the photographers.

I have some 46 grain loads with Alliant RL-15 for the .308 Win 150s, and it's a compressed load - only for my bolt gun. I won't run those loads through the ARs. 46+ grains of H4895 has to be compressed loads, or close to compressed loads, and way up there through an AR gas gun.

Here's some velocity info. I've used Shooter's Notes Velocity Estimator for years, to compare short guns to long guns. I tend to build a caliber, come up with a load, love the gun - and want it shorter - just to see how far I can take it. I use this to get an idea, come up with a basic chart, and test the new, short gun. It's always pretty damn close. Here's the Hornady 10 Manual load data for 150s from a 22" barrel, at 2700fps - max charge listed was 46.4gr at 2800. IMR 4895 and H 4895 are near-twins, and damn near interchangeable for load data. Hornady listed IMR, you use the H - not a big deal. The 22" load data comes in at 2700fps, per the load manual, and this is the calculation of the same load through a 16" - comes in at 2550fps - ish. Getting another 150fps out of this, through a 16" barrel, is gonna push you WAY over max loads. Suppressed will be even worse, with the additional backpressure of the suppressor. Getting 2700 from a 16"er with 150s is gonna be a timebomb, man. Just my opinion, though. I'll run another graphic with the Max at 2800 in the 22", and see what it is in the 16".

Watch some of this guy's vids. I haven't followed them for a couple years, but he was primarily hunting them with a Grendel. https://www.youtube.com/c/HornHillRange/videos

I built another large-frame almost identical to my 16" 308 Win AR, just for that reason - 16" .338 Federal - to smash big pigs. I live in AZ, have a friend in TX - and haven't been able to get over there to use it for what I built it for yet. I get it. How close can you get to these bastards? What's your average shot, and longest shot? I have ideas...

I can say this, for the 150s and a .308AR. I ran that load of mine through a 13.5" barreled gun, with only a red-dot, out to 400 yards on steel. It gets it done, even with just a red dot, just with holds. I have a thread on that somewhere here, with all the target-hit pics, descriptions of each 100-yard hold, etc. I'd say, more than anything, what's the goal for your gun? What do you want it to do for you?

My typical "range load" is Hornady 150gr FMJ-BT, and I have a ton of those things loaded up. I'll shoot some through a 16" .308AR next weekend and get chrono data for you, and report back in this thread. 150s at 2700 is doable, from a 22" barrel, at published max, or near-max charges. Getting those kinds of numbers from a 16" barrel is really pushing it. I can run some math and figure it out, and list it up here.
