Pick whatever 16" barrel that you want to swap in - and do it. It'll work. I don't know what SA uses for a barrel nut, so you might need a special barrel nut wrench from them, to pull this off. Taking off the handguard, and showing us detailed pics of the barrel nut would be the first order of operations. If it's simple, we'll tell you - if it's complicated, we'll ask you for dimensions of certain parts of it, in order to see if any other barrel nut wrench would/might work.

I knew that's what you're doing, and it doesn't bother me - just don't be lazy, make your own thread, detail your own specs on your own gun, and answer your own question about your own gun. This thread is now about my own gun, and about your own laziness. It's simple.
-
Just so you know - 1/32" = 0.031". 1/64" = 0.016". You need a trigger to be within a COUPLE THOU, on all it's aspects, for it to work. You're nowhere close, with what you're working with.

You've got it all figured out. When your gun doesn't fire, based on the changes that you think that will work, based on your thoughts, then we have this to go back to, to tell you why it's not firing. You can change whatever you want, based on what you think - but the fire control group pocket is exactly the same on every single AR15 in existence, and all .308AR guns. The standard is the standard, regardless of the platform, or - the proof, here - we wouldn't be able to use the same AR15 triggers in any .308AR that we build. You can monkey with whatever numbers that you think you can, and it's only gonna fuk you over, if you change any of those numbers. You either NAIL the numbers for the fire control group pocket - or you fucked it up, and your trigger is either unsafe, or it doesn't even work. But, you do you. If you have it all figured out, then just run with scissors, and do whatever you want. I'll point back to this thread, and your post, when you fuk with those numbers and it doesn't work... If you want a trigger jig, I'll send you one. Free. But, you thinking that you can change any of these trigger specs is just a foolish act, on your part. I have enough spare trigger jigs, and i can spare them.

You need to measure your upper receiver, first. Determine what you have, for a rail height. You need to do the work, and figure out what you have. It's in your hands, so we don't know what you're holding...
-
Wooden jig just isn't stable - or accurate enough, by any means - to be testing any trigger components with. When you're talking about 0.001" between a safe trigger, a non-functional trigger, or a completely unsafe trigger... using wood for a trigger jig is not where you wanna be... That's just my $0.02, though.

New and need help - 260 rem cycling problem
98Z5V replied to Radioactive's topic in General Discussion
That's exactly what DPMS used to do, on the LR-308 platforms - but that doesn't mean that's the same thing that every other company does - even if they state "DPMS pattern" or something like that. You need to get your barrel in-hand, and measure the center of the gasport distance to the center of the cam pin cutout in the upper receiver. Then add 0.600" to that dimension. That'll tell you what the length of your gas tube needs to be. Exactly. -
Excellent choices for today, brother - well done.

You're a fucking Troll, too. Pimping a link to CBD oil. You have 2 posts, but when I view ALL your posts - you only have THIS ONE. You need to go, too. Right out the door.

Early serial number DPMS
98Z5V replied to Steve crawford's topic in DPMS Panther Arms LR-308 | Bushmaster 308
All that information was available, by serial number range, when DPMS was DPMS. Remington kinda fucked that up when they bought DPMS, but alot of the information was still there. Now that Remington is done and gone - so is all that information. JJA Holdings (Palmetto State Armory) bought all the DPMS line, so pressure PSA to get that information back up. If they bought the company - then they bought the historical information, too. It's up to them to get it back online. Until then - in the past - I could have posted a direct link to the DPMS website that would let you look up the information on your serial number. These days? Can't make it happen. -
Paging @Magwa... Your experience is needed, brother. Elk. 16" barrels. .308AR platforms. Results. Thanks, my man.

Blew out an oil-fire on an old M-60 tank hulk with one of those, and two full cans of linked HEDP. It was either use the grenade machinegun to try to put it out, or we were running downrange and trying to put it out - because we weren't supposed to be shooting that fucker anyway. My choice was to risk it, and not get Range Control involved. I got lucky. First thing I did was rip the T&E off that thing, so I could free-gun it... Then start yelling at guys to start dragging ammo cans over to the gun...

Damnit. Making it harder to prove my case...

I'm not being defensive, and I'm not a pansy. It's insulting that you get a giant case of being lazy, and just toss your shiit in my thread. Really now, how hard is it to click that button that says "Start New Topic"...???... It's right here, on every forum, and subforum... It's position never changes... it's always in the same place...

I'll pick the grenade launcher over everything else brother, any day. I can perform intricate brain surgery, from a distance, with an M203.

Last count was 3 of them laying around, brother, not doing anything here. I have a billet Strike Industries unit that I use for all trigger testing/tuning. My bad - two LaRues, and one Ruger. The Strike is far, far superior. And way easier than doing something out of wood. Way more accurate than doing something out of wood, too. Time is money, and the amount of time that you invest into something, that someone has already made - alot of times, in life, that's not worth your time, or money, to try to make yourself. Just buy it, end the guess-work, and move on with life. Cheaper, and less stress, that way. I didn't invent the wheel, none of us here did. But, we make it go around, alot. My $0.02...

He and Greg started it all. Rob started it with his insults, as SOON as he met me (and I didn't know he was BEHIND ME...)... Then, we proceeded to show each other what we were carrying. My daily at the time - which I thought was "adequate", was a loaded Springfiend XD-45 LE model with the thumb safety, two spare mags with extensions, one in the pipe, and an extra round in my pocket - so I could daily 45 rounds of .45ACP on me. Rob quickly embarrassed me, and proceed to take 17 guns OFF HIMSELF, to show me what his "daily" was... It was an OUTSTANDING first Pants-Down Hug, like no other, to date... He was pulling guns off himself EVERYWHERE... This was all circa 2011... @Robocop1051

That's perfect. Leave it alone. .308 Win cartridge sucks for home defense, because of barrier penetration (over penetration), but there's nothing wrong with that configuration. Don't touch it. Research Box O' Truth on YT if you want to see what works for home defense, and over-penetration. TONS of vids on it. Search the early chapters.

Converting from adjustable stock to fixed stock.
98Z5V replied to Thorud74's topic in General Discussion
If either of you guys are confused about the amount of information that we need out of you, in order to diagnose a gun-problem that you're having, with the functionality of your own rifle - OVER THE INTERNET... then you need to read this thread, right here, in order to understand the amount of information that WE need... in order to diagnose the functional rifle problem that YOU are having... over the internet... It's all in the SPECS. Of your own gun. We need details, of your own gun, in order to even help you in the least. Whatever store you bought your parts from, and what they stated those were - are virtually useless - unless you've measure and weighed those parts in your own, and verified the specs, weights, lengths, coil counts on springs and wire diameters... Doesn't matter what vendor told you what - because so many vendors out there don't even know what the fuk they're talking about in the first place, when it comes to the large-frame platform. Measure, weigh, and spec out your gun parts, in accordance with this guidance below - or we're flying blind here. Details Matter... -

Both you guys need to read this, before you continue down this rabbit-hole of information that you'll find elsewhere on the internet. If this thread doesn't explain it (link below) - then ask your questions HERE IN THIS THREAD. NOT in the linked tread below... ASK HERE, about the information presented below... I hope I made that clear. -
This was gonna be fun, and you had to ruin it...

Tell me how those prescription opioids are working out for you, long term... Michael Jackson's Doctor did nothing wrong, either, right?...

Back in the day, I was a Precision Sniper with an M203. I have a severe love for that particular weapons platform.
