  1. We'll damn sure run 'em head to head, and see how they do against the Grendels, and the .224 Valkyrie. I'll give the Valk it's props - it does have a liiiiiittle less drop than the Grendel, at a given distance. Check, less drop. Got it. However, I'm delivering an 88grain Match projectile with just a few less "tenths of a mil of drop"... I'm sending an 88gr pill, not a 123 grain Match projectile. I'll take the Grendel over the Valk. It'll be interesting to see how this little fucker does against both of those. Oh, just so you know... Full Discolsure and all that happy horseshiit... I'm building a LaRue rifle.
  2. I kinda feel bad for you, in a way. A little. Wait a minute, no I don't. Having said that, I'll build one with you. The only stipulation is: must be finished for the Fall Shoot. Then we can run these little fuckers proper.
  3. Doc layed out one INTRICATE TRAP. The first guy to get caught in that trap was him...
  4. I vote for invoking The Rule. Personally, I was gonna post this information on the 6 ARC. But, I'd be smarter about it and post it in the "news" section... I like how this worked out...
  5. Way to throw him to the wolves, brother... RECOIL Mag put up a good article on the collaboration that it took to make this round a reality. Here's the article: https://www.recoilweb.com/san-tan-tactical-hornady-proof-research-team-up-for-6mm-arc-rifle-161008.html?utm_source=bm23&utm_medium=email&utm_term=Read+the+Full+Story&utm_content=6mm+ARC+Release+|+Watch+Our+Suppressor+Webinar+|+Get+Deals+on+Ammo&utm_campaign=Recoil+Newsletter+-+6/5/20 San Tan Tactical, Hornady, Proof Research Team Up for 6mm ARC Release with STT-15 Rifle Travis Pike June 3, 2020 The 6mm ARC hit the ground running in 2020 by being as mysterious as possible. SAAMI accepted it in March, and there was limited information regarding its purpose. The story goes that a select group chose it within the DoD for testing in the multipurpose rifle program. At the time, it seemed like no one was actively manufacturing the round. That changed as we learned today, Hornady is charging full steam ahead. Hornady partnered with San Tan Tactical and Proof Research to produce a rifle worthy of such a capable round. The 6mm ARC is designed to be more precise and more powerful than the 5.56. It also sheds the recoil, size, and weight of 7.62 NATO. The 6mm ARC delivers more power and penetration and has a longer effective range than the 5.56 could ever hope to. The San Tan Tactical rifle is more than just a standard AR 15. The STT-15-6ARC features a billet upper and lower receiver, a magazine well with a massive flare for quick reloads, an oversized trigger guard, ambidextrous magazine and bolt release, and more. We know Hornady makes good ammo, but a round can't reach its full potential without the right platform. Proof Research is famed for its lightweight, carbon fiber barrels that deliver outstanding accuracy. The new 6mm ARC rifle is equipped with an 18-inch carbon fiber barrel with a 1:7.5 twist rate.
  6. We've now usurped Ron, completely, and we have his kids on board, completely - and THEY'RE COOL AS FUKQ!!!! So, with them on board now... You know, I'm just sayin'...
  7. That's not a dungeon - that's a man-paradise. It's a get-away, towards some semblance of man-freedom...

Nope, not with the grouping you've got at 46.4, and that 35k psi threshold that you posted from quikloads. You're already above that 35k psi threshold, according to their load info, and that was 35k at 45.2. I'd keep what you have - which is a great group, great SD and ES... and run that thing... You have a winner, right there.
  9. Valid point. I'm texting Kate right now, too... She's IN for the Fall Shoot.
  10. He's sharp like that. It's the Spock in him...
  11. Yeah he is. As much as I hate to admit it, he's a good fucker. Can't believe that he's clan of Ron... Come to think of it - Kate is badass, too. So, in that... WTF is wrong with Ron?... And, how long is it gonna take for him to find this hidden gem...

Grendel loads, muzzle velocities, 27.5gr Accurate 2520: 12.5" = 2239 fps 16" = 2385 fps 18" = 2309 fps That 16" SMOKED the 18". Accuracy on those loads were there, but that never should have happened... 28.5gr Accurate 2520: 12.5" = 2369 fps 16" = 2495 fps 18" = 2534 fps NOW we're talking. Accuracy was there again - like it was originally - on the next higher node. These things just slightly crater primers, and when I built that 12.5", I got paranoid about it and backed the load down. Never should have done that, in hindsight.

@Big Bore is here, too. Let's get him into this. If he's been running this, and testing it - then trust what he states. I saw weird shiit like you're talking about, with my Grendel loads. Built everything off the original 18" Mk-12-ish (SPR) gun, and came up with a stellar load at 28.5 grains. Second Grendel was the 12.5". I thought the primers looked cratered - same load. I went into it again, and hit another node at 27.5 grains. Kept that for awhile. Then comes another 18" "lighter Grendel", the 16" M4 Grendel, and finally the 16" Mk12 Mod H Grendel... All of them went on the chrono, on the same day, same 27.5gr load. The 16" Mod H has a higher muzzle velocity than the 18" SPR gun. WTF?! The 16" was perfect for that barrel length and charge - the charge fully burned up before the projo left the 18" SPR... and dragged and the end of the barrel. So, since ALL the 27.5gr loads looked the same at the 28.5gr loads, as far as primers looking cratered. Dump all that old 27.5 ammo, and load up all new ammo back to the original 28.5gr load. All the velocities came back up, the accuracy was there, and the 18" guns outperformed the 16" guns, as far as muzzle velocity goes. I'll dig out my numbers on that - they're all in my permanent notebook. Ballistics are WEIRD, brother...

Damn, brother - you're already 1.2 grains above the max pressure, as they're advertising it. I had no idea max pressure was 35k psi. They're calling max pressure at 45.2 on the AR-Comp. Be happy with what ya got, then?... That load is a keeper.

I'd risk it, built 3 of them at 46.7, just to check pressure, and run 5 at 47.0 if that 46.7 pans out. You'll hit another mode at 47. But then, I'm a dumbass like that...
  16. Praises for your father. That's a generation with a mentaility, that we dearly need back in this country. Okinawa, perhaps? That one was bloody, savage battle. Nothing in the Pacific Islands was an easy fight - we invested heavily to defend and gain that chunk of terrain.

    375 SOCOM

Every 0.6 grains, you're hitting a node, and it's getting tighter when you're going up. That last one was 46.4grains. You think you can jump that, without hitting pressure signs, another 0.6gr, to 47.0 even? That'll be another accuracy node, if the pressure is safe.

This one right there is the keeper, brother. Single-digit SD, ES 20... That's the one. You're going 0.3 on the charge, narrow that down, either side of this one, and see if anything it better. Or not - that's pretty damn great, right there. You see any pressure signs with that load?
  19. Closed to the public, these days. You had to sign up for the IPO, and then snuggle with him in 2012 - when he was Big Rob. I know Greg and I are in, we risked it back then. That's when Rob was built for comfort, not speed.

That is BADASS, brother!!! Bigtime envious of that day. Wonderful job!
  21. Gas isn't a problem, at all, on the blowbacks. There's no gas tube feeding it backwards, into the action. All that shiit goes straight out the end of the barrel. Extended-latch charging handles do make these things easier to run, overall, though. Since BCM started making their own, I ditched their new design, and don't buy anymore of them. VLTOR still make the original BCM version though. My go-to charging handle these days is the Strike Industries extended. The things have been great so far. Once in awhile, I intentionally buy a standard CH and swap the PRI Combat Latch into it. That's a real winner, right there. I love that combo...
  22. With all the horseshiit going on in this fucked up country right now, it's going to be pretty easy to forget about D-Day, June 6th, 1944. Let's not forget that, brothers. The Normandy Landings changed EVERYTHING about WWII. Forget your past, and you will relive your past.
  23. Working on a baseboard heater there? Nice, man. I love people that fix their own stuff.
  24. Yes, you are quite the dish. I'd love to have you back for a FallShoot. Wait, was that what you're talking about?...
  25. I've got you covered on the body armor. The .338LM needs to come from @Robocop1051 If you're talking .338 Federal - then I've still got you covered.
