  1. What's your barrel twist, brother? Those 55s are running north of 3100fps, some 3300fps - through a typical AR15, 20"er. That's their design. Those M855s are designed to run 3100fps through the M16A2. You're rocking 2400fps with the M855 and a 7.5" barrel. I ran the math on the projectile a LONG time ago. The 5.56 projectile is designed to frag when it goes into something, that's the only reason it's effective. With a 62gr M855, you need 1700fps ON TARGET for that thing to frag. Same on the 55s. That give you about 175 yards of realistic distance with a short AR. Otherwise, it's not fragging and just leaving holes, like an expensive ice pick. So, reason I asked about your twist rate - those 55gr loads aren't in a barrel long enough to "settle down" - and if it's a 1:7" twist, those tiny little fast bastards are coming out of the end of that barrel, and just going haywire. Surprised those 40s did well - they have to be screaming.
  2. The store is legit - but you'll need to call them and see if they still have it.
  3. This will help your search - use the DD part number. For Armalite, you want the DD-3003-A. For DPMS-based parts, you'll want the DD-3003-D. You'll need to keep that in mind, during your build, because the barrel nut thread pattern for Armalite is 1 7/16", 18 TPI. The DPMS-based patterns all use 1 7/16", 16 TPI.

    98's 6mm ARC

You know I'm in. You need a barrel?...
  5. Beware of the cheap airsoft fakes that are out there. Make sure that if you find one, you verify that it's legit. Check it out close, look at every pic posted in the sale listing. Bottom line - if the price looks WAY too good to be true, then it's probably airsoft parts.

You can't deny the Complete Sexiness of a Mk12, I'm with you.
  7. If you need or want more magnification, over 14x, then this is the one - Athlon Argos BTR 6~24x50,illum mil-dot reticle: https://athlonoptics.com/product/argos-btr-gen2-6-24x50-apmr-ffp-ir-mil-copy/ here's the reticle:
  8. The benefit of the Athlon over that PA I recommended - on the Athlon, the WHOLE GRID is iluminated. On that PA, only the center dot is illuminated. That can make a big difference, if you shoot in any low-light/no-light conditions. That's where the Athlon kicks ass, with the entire grid illuminated. If you never shoot at night - both are great. That PA BDC scope is fast as hell on targets at different ranges. 500~600 yards with either one of these scopes is a no-brainer.
  9. I'm with you on the MOA BS. @Matt.Cross is gonna get on me about that, but I'm all in for mils. However... BDC is the fastest. You're shooting .308 Win. Right away, I'd recommend the PA 4-14 BDC scope: https://www.primaryarms.com/primary-arms-4-14x44mm-riflescope-acss-hud-dmr-308-223-reticle here's the reticle: Now, for mils, I wouldn't recommend the PA mil-dot scope. For SURE, I'd recommend you the Athlon Talos BTR 4-14 scope with the APLR2 reticle. I have a PILE of these things. They're great scopes, for the money, and don't break the bank. https://athlonoptics.com/product/rifle-scopes-talos-btr-4-14x44-aplr-ffp-ir-mil/ here's the reticle:
  10. How far you gonna shoot? I have a pile of Athlons, and Primary Arms scopes. You into mil-reticles, MOA, or BDC? Need those details, and I can give you a recommendation on what i would do, if it were mine.
  11. Won't affect that bipod in the least. That bipod won't care. You're not going to burn or scorch it, unless you leave it in a dumpster fire.
  12. I remember those days, when I had to play that game, too... Well played...

    98's 6mm ARC

^^^ I have to point this out, just because I saw it in that article. They're making the major comparison in that article between the 6mm ARC 108gr projectile, and the .308 WIN 178 ELD-X projectile. They're claiming 2600 fps on the 178 ELD-X through a 24" barrel: They're not doing something right, with that projectile and load. I'm pulling a true, chrono'd 2530 fps on my load, through a 18.5" barrel... Something isn't right with their numbers, if they're only getting another 70fps over my load, and they've got a 24" barrel, vs. my 18.5" barrel. So, not only does this thing have to do distance-battle with the 18" Grendel SPR, the 18" Valk SPR, now it has to fight with the Mk11, too.
  14. @DayWalker, this is for you, brother. Building a 6mm ARC, and I don't have a single part yet. I'm making a phonecall in the morning, and I'll bet I get a barrel. It WILL be a barrel with the SPR profile (Mk12 profile). 18", rifle gas, and straight badass. News on that endeavor tomorrow night. Next up. LaRue. I'll build this thing in a LaRue rifle. I'll have to BUY a LaRue rifle, and swap some stuff out, but that's the way it's gonna go down. Smartest thing for me to do is buy a LaRue Grendel Ultimate Upper kit, and just part with the barrel. Next time we're in need here, that LaRue Grendel barrel will go up for auction, for the need at the time. Brace yourselves, men, this is happening. I found this interesting, because I just changed over ALL my .308 Win precision loads to the Hornady 178 ELD-X projectile. The 178 ELD-X is no joke, and I've got that load DIALED IN... Oh, some unit in the military already adopted the 6 ARC - before the cartridge was even announced. We'll see, for real, how this thing shakes out compared to Valk and Grendel. https://www.gunsandammo.com/editorial/hornady-6mm-arc/376852
  15. WTF?! NOW, HOW DOES THAT MOTHERFUCKER KNOW HOW TO USE A STRAW?!!?
  16. Welcome aboard. I have someone you need to meet. Hey @Magwa!
  17. You're gonna find that all ejection port doors hit the lower. That's what stops them from opening even further. That's what they do. As far as not closing - that sucks. Lookin' good so far - stay after it!
  18. I'm a patient man...
  19. Dion, just let me know when my rent is due, and I'll fire off the funds, brother.
  20. Black powder gun, brother. It's a "muzzle-loader." Completely legit, and completely legal, straight to your mailbox.
  21. You were just gifted the Ultimate Kitchen Pass, brother, BY FAR!!! It's time. To run with scissors.

    Grilling

    Damn, that looks fantastic!
  23. This thing is basically a 6mm Grendel. Parent case is .220 Russian, just like Grendel and 6 PPC. There's info out there that you can just run AR15 mags - but you can't do that with Grendel. I'm suspecting that you'll need to run Grendel mags on this little beast. Good write-up - even though this thing is brand new: https://gununiversity.com/6mm-arc-review/ Alright, I confirmed it - Grendel bolts and Grendel mags for this one.
