  1. Damn. I was looking for a companion to this one - it's an old IBM. I did the Ultimak top rail on it and red-dotted it. This would work well, scoped, if it was an extended eye relief scope or a pistol scope. M1 Carbine won't need magnification, though, for what it is. I'll keep this one forever, love it.
  2. Good work - we'll get it running. Punch it up one more time, and you're there. Make sure you let us know what the final port diameter is. I keep saying 0.080" for a .260 Rem with a 20" barrel and rifle gas, 0.750 journal diameter - but mine is actually 0.081". Minor detail, but it all comes for to the drill bits used. I measure every one that I use, before I use it - some are a thou larger or smaller than adverstised, but I measure them just to know what's what.
  3. Well, that's a different turn of events, BUT... How you feeling about that Inland M1?... If you still have it, and it's gotta go, too, I'm here for you, brother...
  4. This little fucker is ready to go. The WOA gas tube came in today - perfect timing for the weekend. It's getting shot in the morning, and that gas port is gonna get drilled until it runs right. Lube will definitely NOT be the issue - she's ready, as far as that goes. The 11.000" White Oak gas tube worked out perfect. Measurements were on the money for that one. We've seen one recently that someone order a 11.250" gas tube, and it looks/ends just like mine. It's SUPER important to measure each one of these SIG 12.5" barrels before you just blindly order a gas tube, just because someone else had a length that worked. With the report of the 11.250" tube that looked just like mine above, I'm convinced that these barrels were blown out because the gas-port-drilling-monkey at SIG was just putting them where he wanted them - whatever worked on that shift. That's the only answer for a quality barrel like this, blown out at $50 each - they were blems, because the port distances weren't uniform. With my measurements, I determined that I needed an 11.000" gas tube for mine. Ordered it via WOA website, didn't have to talk to John on the phone. Told them I needed 11.000" OAL with a .308AR/AR-10 bend in the tube. That's exactly what I received. And exactly what I needed. With my gas port location, I'm exactly 3.500" from the center of the gas port to the end of the barrel - 3.500" dwell time. Those with longer gas tubes, like the 11 1/4" gas tube here - that's a shorter dwell time, down to 3.250" dwell. Which one is what SIG really designed? Who knows. That dwell time difference will definitely affect whatever we need for a functional gas port diameter, though, when the barrel is this short, and the dwell time is this short.
  5. Cool, I get it. I saved my Corona Charts from yesterday anyway. Double-dipper in today's update.
  6. The board broke last night? What was going on? I couldn't even attempt to respond/reply to anything. Tried to send @Matt.Cross a PM, and that wasn't allowed. What happened? 2 hrs ago, @RedRiverII sends me a PM, and says he's locked out somehow. No further details other than that.
  7. Helmet/Ministry/Anthrax concert was one of the most badass things I've ever witnessed in my life. Fucking UNREAL. You know what I'm talking about. Next runner-up was Lollapalooza '93, at The Gorge At George, in Washington. Great venue, mind-blowing line-up. Weekend long party.
  8. Eddie was always "Mr. 800 Meters..." @Cali_Ed

    Fuckin' AWESOME, brother!
  10. If I could find a '77 Pontiac Can Am with the T/A 6.6 in it, I'd lose my mind. Not interested in the one that had the "6.6 Litre" on the shaker - that was the let-down engine. Other than that, and a nice Trans Am, I'll always be on the hunt for a Grand National that I can afford... I'd love a GNX, but that will never be my reality... Hint - there were hidden "Can Ams" that never got to see the light of day, after the aftermarket factory-builder broke the rear spoiler mold. Once that mold broke, no more were ever made, and the run was cut short. But the actual cars were already produced... I'd take one of those in a heartbeat.
  11. Is this like Eddie, and the 800 meter shot?... After busting this out, at 1,262 yards, and winning money from buddies - I'm certain that pics were taken... You were logged in 7 hours ago, so I'm sure you checked up on your thread, here...
  12. Evanescence - that would be Amy Lee. ❤️ I would impregnate her, just to trap her in a relationship...
  13. GAWD DAYUM! @edgecrusher is gonna love this when he sees it!!!
  14. HELL YEAH!!! If it was a '77 Esprit in Buckskin Gold, I would have shiit my pants...
  15. Pics of the Firebird, man!~ I love those things...
  16. Got the Troy fixed iron sights today - DDs were sold out everywhere I was looking, and I've used the Troy's before - so they got the nod. WOA gas tube arrives Friday. Might be able to shoot it this coming weekend. I know I threatened paint before now, but I'm waiting on two key things for it, before I paint it. I need them, before I can paint. Here she sits - and if I can get that gas tube in it, I'll shoot it on Sunday morning.
  17. He could step up to a Rem 783 in .308 Win, the Varmint version. 26" heavy barrel, great trigger that's actually adjustable (and doesn't suck, for a Rem factory trigger). It actually has a real, detachable magazine, so no top-loading - just change mags. MSRP is $637.50, street price should be lower. Step down to that Primary Arms 4-14x44 mildot scope at MSRP $229, like in the MAC vids above, done. Throw in those same Warne Maxima rings. Under a grand. The gun will do it - that's the same setup on my .243 Win. I went Athlon on the 4-14x44 scope, so I'd have a badass illuminated reticle, so the scope was $300 street, instead of $229 MSRP. Here's the gun: https://www.remington.com/rifles/bolt-action/model-783/model-783-varmint Here's the scope: https://www.primaryarms.com/primary-arms-4-14x44mm-riflescope-mil-dot-pa4-14xffp Here's the Athlon version of it, with the GREAT illuminated reticle: https://athlonoptics.com/product/rifle-scopes-talos-btr-4-14x44-aplr-ffp-ir-mil/ IF THE OP IS LOOKING TO DO THIS WITH A .308AR, AND GO OUT TO 1K YARDS, THEN IT'S NEVER GONNA HAPPEN. HE'LL HAVE A BOX-OF-SHIIT BUDGET RIFLE THAT WILL NEVER BE UP TO THE TASK... THE BARREL WILL BE A BUDGET BARREL, AND SUCK - THE TRIGGER WILL SUCK... JUST WON'T HAPPEN... My $0.02...
  18. MAC pulled it off, 6/7 years ago. We can do this... That Savage Model 10 he's shooting isn't the same price it was in late 2013, anymore. Gotta move to a different Savage now.
  19. Damn, they have 339 rifle dies/listings, but after #120, they're "temporarily out of stock" on everything else. I did find this interesting tidbit - form 8mm Mauser from 30-06 brass: https://palmettostatearmory.com/rcbs-trim-8mmx57-mauser-15965.html

    With your listed possibilities - I'd build a 300BLK over a 5.56, if I was building a short(er) pistol build. I'd definitely build a 6.5 Grendel over a 6.8 SPC II gun, anyday. That's just me...
  21. Yeah it is. My first one was $325. Things were WAY DIFFERENT in Jan 2010.
  22. I don't know, brother - I can pull this off. Savage Axis II Overwatch has a listed MSRP of $529, street price will be lower. Pull an Athlon Ares BTR 6-24x50 mil scope for under $400 street price. That rifle already comes with a Pic rail on top. Set of Warne Maxima Steel 30mm low rings for $50, and I'll still be under a grand - well under, depending on the steet price of that rifle. Bet I could get it under $1k, and hits at 1k, too. Here's the rifle I'd base it on - I THINK he's talking about a bolt action rifle anyway, and the Savage AccuTrigger - from what I could tell of his post: https://www.savagearms.com/content?p=firearms&a=product_summary&s=57484 ^^^ Just saw it on Bud's Gun Shop for $447. Here's the scope I'd do: ^^^ Just saw that one for $399,without looking hard. Another $50 on these, and I'm done. I can splurge and get them straight from Warne for the full MSRP of $62.49: https://warnescopemounts.com/product/213m-30mm-fixed-low-matte-rings/
  23. They're both good, and will easily do what you want them to do. The DB sounds like a better deal, and is already proven reliable, by the previous owner.
