Super easy question - and this is in stock. I lusted after a .338 Fed for quite awhile, and was going to go through custom barrel manufacturers to get one made. The manna fell from heaven one day, right before I was ready to pull the trigger on that custom barrel order, and Wilson Combat sent me a magical, clairvoyant email, and announced that they were making barrels in .338 Fed. That sealed the deal, right then, right now. I did it. I went with the 16" barrel. For that caliber, and that barrel length, it'll kill anything I need it to kill, within that ballistic range of the cartridge. Browse to your liking - but make damn sure you buy one with the 1:10" twist. Those 1:12" twists aregreat for light-ass projectiles - but you don't get into a .338 Federal for light-ass projectiles. Happy shopping! Click it: https://shopwilsoncombat.com/338-Federal/products/740/

LaRue MBT for $87 Through July 4th and Beyond!
98Z5V replied to jtallen83's topic in Sales and Coupons
AR Gold in my first 308AR, and it's good. Elftmann in another one, and it's good. Neither are 2-stage triggers. I prefer 2-stage triggers on precision guns. I'll take a Geissele Hi-Speed trigger in a precision gun any day of the week - it can't be beat, at damn near $300. But for Mark LaRue's price of $87 on the MBT2S, you can't beat that either. Last time I did a Geissele Hi-Speed was this time last year, for a special build. I've done 4 of the LaRue triggers in the meantime, since that build. What Geissele trigger did you buy? If it was one of the Hi-Speed triggers, and you feel it's too light - you can adjust that thing heavier. Easy. If it was the SSA-E, it's a 3.5lb combined pull. The LaRue is a 4.5lb combined pull - just like the Geissele SSA trigger. Between those last two, you're talking $87 or $200. Easy choice - the quality is there on both. I've got a Jard 2lb trigger that would scare the hell out of you... -
DNP's dad has an '06 LJ that had a Banks Turbo system on. He just pulled the entire engine and trans so he could stuff a small block in it. I think it was an LS3. Sexy AF, too. Damn...

I have an idea - for longevity. You build that 3rd one as a .338 Federal. When you shoot that barrel out, you just send it off and THEN get it re-bored for the .358 Winchester... Once you shoot that .308 Winchester out, you get THAT one re-bored for .338 Federal. Win/win here. You then pick up some new .308 Win barrel - you've shot a TON, had a damn great time doing it - added another caliber to the stable. For a .308 Win barrel... You'll have YEARS to pick up all the parts for that 4th one, that way.

SHIIT!!!! OOS now. I KNEW I should have grabbed one! Lesson 65b bit me in the ass... Get one of these while you still can, brother - you got 3 days... https://www.dvor.com/american-built-arms-company-urban-recoil-pad.html -
HAHA!!! HELL YEAH, MAN!!! Yes, I do use a shot timer, for the last 7or 8 years now. PACT Club Timer II. If I'm shooting by myself, I just clip it into my pocket, or the belt if I'll be moving alot/running. If there's a group of us shooting, it's just easier if there's a "timer," that way you can run multiple people through the course, one after the other, staynear them - and I always angle the pickup towards them, to make sure i get their shots recorded. As the person shooting, you just listen to/wait for your commands, and go when you hear the buzzer. When there are multiple people shooting at the same time, the shot timer will pick up the other shots nearby. If you ran two people through a 10-shot course of fire, 10 yards apart, the shot timer would probably pick up all 20 shots. It's less sensitive with pistol rounds, but it certainly does pick up nearby rifle fire, everytime. They're sensitive enough that there would be no reason to have to clip it to the gun - they're fine from the belt, or held nearby the person shooting.

Which "kid"? - YOU, the Big Kid? Or did you sucker one of the smaller ones into "liking brussel sprouts?"...

Fire those questions off - we're here for it. Someone knows something about what you want to ask, for sure here, and you'll definitely get the answers you need.

Faxon Big Gunner or BA Modern? Helping a Friend Decide
98Z5V replied to COBrien's topic in .308AR Parts
CO B, I have several of both, Faxon and Ballistic Advantage. Both are very good barrels, and neither pick will leave you wishing that you'd done the other. The Faxons are the 16" 5.56 Pencil Barrel, 16" midlength .308 Win barrel, and the 18" midlength gas Grendel barrel. All those barrels are fantastic. The Ballistic Advantage barrels are the 18" SPR profile 5.56 barrel (Mk12 Mod 1 gun), and the 18" SPR profile Grendel barrel (Mk12-ish Army Green Grendel) - those things just shoot the lights out. Either one will leave the owner with a bigass smile on his face. -
Damn, man - that's a pretty serious set of skills you have there.

^^^ THE Ammo Pimp.

Think I sealed the deal on that third rifle, brother...

^^^ Yep! Fuk those things. EDIT - Fuk Taylor Swift, too. "Entertainers" think they're important. They should stop thinking they're important, and stick to what they're paid to do - entertain.

Neck UP a standard .308 Win case to .338 diameter, and shoot 225gr SMASHERS... Here's what it is, man:
-
You say that now... Dirk didn't tell you this part, did he... And he's the one that started this shiit, here!...

Midwest PX is SOLID, brother! They rock! Those other guys, though - they can go choke on a bag of dicks, and for desert, they can eat a bowl of smashed assholes. That's bullshiit. Project is ON AGAIN!!!
-
Spread the sickness, brother.

From the leg pivot bolt, they are 6 7/8" minimum to 10 3/8" maximum - leg pivot bolt to bottom of feet. Leg pivot bolt sits 1" below the bottom of the rail, on the M-LOK version. I'll take it out on New Year's Day, so I'll pound the hell out of it and see how it goes. I'll abuse it for certain.

Starting a tech thread about your specific issues will help tremendously. "Lower paper weight" means you did an 80% lower? Don't know. Fire up a tech thread in the (right section, or close to right...) section, and give all the details you can.

I don't think this one is funny, but it's pretty damn terrifying! Didn't wanna bury this in a pic of the day thread or something. This dude will kick anybody's ass before they even know what happened. Samurai slices a100mph fastball in half... and he's 30 feet away... Here's some more on that story... https://kotaku.com/samurai-slices-a-100-mph-baseball-in-half-1736420399 This guy is WAY BEYOND any kind of "cat-like reflexes" I've ever seen...
-
Well, then, it's gotta be .338 Federal. 16" barrel will do just fine in that fat short-action caliber.

@BeaverMeat, you showed up to this place the day our Fall Shoot started - and I've never even seen this topic before now. Looks like you didn't get any info to help - but we had a large contingent of people away at the time. So, which one of these Stag models do you have? https://www.stagarms.com/AR10-rifles/ From what it looks like - you don't need a front sight for a railed gasblock - those things aren't offered on any of the Stag models that I was able to find. If you'd post a picture of the rifle that you have, it'll make everything easier. If you got a full rifle - one of the ones that are on the Stag website listed above - then it's got a handguard that either has a forward rail section at the front, or it's got a full pic top rail. In a nutshell - you can use any folding front and rear sights that you want, and they'll work. I'd get the front and rear from the same manufacturer, though.
