  1. Right on, brother!

I would take them up on the new gun. They can have the old one. I'd want them to explain "the old one is know to have cycling issue" - why? What was wrong, and what is changed on the "new one" that fixes those cycling issues?

    Grilling

    That's what I'm talking about...
  4. Yep, they'll do it. 20" gas guns with a rifle gas system are running 6.875" gas port distance from the muzzle. 16" with the Armalite AR-10 Carbine gas tube (a tick over midlength gas in the AR15) are 8.375" from the muzzle. Gotta keep it right in there somewhere, and nail the gas port diameter. Or start small and drill up. Or... just really tweak that gas port diameter, with that much dwell.
  5. In between those two pics above, I checked the weather.com map, then ran out to get this video - Rain for sure, it just stopped about 20 minutes ago. Damn, alot of rain. You can see this thing moving pretty well - it hit me fast, after this vid.

This is more gas timing than available pressure. With a tube that's too short, you're cutting of the needed gas supply for the recoil, extraction and ejection, and reloading operations, early. Doesn't seem like much, but it can make the world of difference.

Research dwell time. There is only pressurized gas entering that gas tube from one bullet point to another. From the time that bullet crosses the gas port in the barrel, all that pressurized gas behind it (it's propellant), enters the gas port, and it continues until that bullet leaves the barrel. Point A being the gas port and Point B being the muzzle. As soon as that bullet leaves the barrel, you cannot increase any pressure, and it drops off fast. This event is over in microseconds.
  8. Nope! That didn't take long - it's all over me now...
  9. Damn, got another one moving up on me fast, from the northeast. I just hope the rain is behind it.

That was 100% due to a poorly designed/shipped recoil system, right there.

At least you got to see what it was made of, man - Good digging into it like that. Gasport diameter should be okay at 0.082". Think you'll have to redesign that hunting load? It wasn't cycling the gun, but the warmer loads were?
  12. I looked on that page, and didn't see any 150gr 6.5C ammo, man. Federal only had 9 factory loads for Creedmoor, and they're all on this page: https://www.federalpremium.com/products/rifle?page=0&facets=computed_skucaliber_s=6.5 Creedmoor For distance ammo, and competition, "cheap ammo" isn't gonna have alot to do with those competitions. Right now, one of the meanest long distance 6.5mm projectiles you can buy is the 147gr Hornady ELD-M, with a G1 BC of 0.697 and a sectional density of 0.301. It runs just fine through a 1:8" twist barrel. You need to look at ballistic coefficient and sectional density, more than the projectile weight. You can get a 160gr Hornady round nose in 6.5mm, but the BC sucks for long distance, though the sectional density is through the roof.
  13. OP, take a look at this article here: https://rifleshooter.com/2016/02/6-5-creedmoor-effect-of-barrel-length-on-velocity-cutting-up-a-creedmoor/ Also, why do you want it with a 1:7" twist?...
  14. I have Campfire Stories about Ketron Island, brother. Had the whole island call the cops on us once (Yeah, like all 20-ish people that live there)... You don't wanna miss this Fall Shoot, brother, not in a longshot. You need to make your driving plans - and tell the woman, you didn't get kidnapped and killed in the desert last year, by "those people you don't know," and you'll be just fine this year, too. Make the driving plans, my brother.
  15. This "weed" explains so much, brother. SO much...
  16. This is all over the news now... Guy steals plane from Sea-Tac,and crashes it into Ketron Island... Here's the news article and video... http://www.foxnews.com/travel/2018/08/11/suicidal-airline-employee-who-stole-plane-from-seatac-airport-had-bizarre-conversation-with-air-traffic-control-before-crashing.html Ketron Island... to me... Man, do I know that island. It's about a klick from Solo Point Boat Launch, on North Fort Lewis. Almost all our water training in the Puget Sound was out of Solo Point. Once a month, we'd have a torture-run and swim. It was about 12 miles to run to Solo Point and back, so we'd run out there, suit-up and fin-up, and swim to Ketron Island and back, strip off swim gear and run back. That was always on Fridays, and it was the only thing we did - we went home for the day after recovering/cleaning wetsuits. The fucking hill DOWN to Solo Point sucked - it was a mile long, and STEEP. It didn't suck as bad running down, as it did running back up, though - especially after a 2km saltwater surface swim. It didn't matter what time of year you messed around in Puget Sound. Didn't matter. Surface temp of the water was 52~54 degrees, year round. Ice Cream Headache shiit when you got in the water, until you got used to it. First thing you do - piss in your wetsuit... I kid you not... I'd probably die if I tried to do that shiit now. Or, I'd do it really slow.
  17. Holy shiit... https://erowid.org/plants/datura/datura_info5.shtml
  18. Updated for quoting: 1. ME - I live here. I'm here all the time. 2. Matt Cross. 17 Oct arrival. 3 & 4. Ron R-Squared and daughter. 17 Oct arrival. 5. ROB. He decided to make his flight in for the 18th, so he'll arrive sometime while we're out there already shooting. I don't know what I'n gonna do with him, but I don't need to count him into the Wednesday night grill-cooking, due to his time management skills... 6. Greg/GREG. Arrives 17 Oct. I don't know which one will show up at the airport, but I know which one I'll find around the grill that night... 7. mrraley - will arrive 17 Oct. Will fly out 22 Oct 8. DNP - heading straight for the secret location. Likely arrival on the 17th. Getting the trailer fixed up right now and still working on the wife who doesn't want to come out and be neglected all weekend. Things are about to get interesting for us financially, so who knows at this point. Glad I already bought ammo. 9. Ray. 17 Oct arrival 10. Neal 18th late afternoon, maybe I can do another impromptu trip to the airport.... 11/12. Ron and Susan. Arrival unknown at this time, but arrival well respected...
  19. You might need to get Rob, because his dates ain't straight! He flies in on the 18th...
  20. Can we get a head-count going for this one? Just trying to figure peoplenumbers here... Also, indicate what day you'll arrive - I need to plan ribeyes for Wednesday night, and "grill-management..." Who is DEFINITELY IN on this Fall Shoot? Just quote a piece of this (edit out the top information, and leave this information below...) Dates for THE SHOOT are Thursday through Sunday, 18~21 October 2018. Most people are arriving on Wednesday, 17 October 2018, and leaving Monday, 22 October 2018. 1. ME - I live here. I'm here all the time. 2. Matt Cross. 17 Oct arrival. 3 & 4. 21. One thing I really don't like about this story is about how the media (even Fox) is covering the weapons recovered from the site. They want you to think he was prepared for Armageddon, with all his hardware. He had one AR15 with 5 loaded 30-rd mags, and 4 pistols, all loaded. NOT alot of hardware, in the least, and very little ammo... Shiit, that's not even a basic load for the AR...
  22. Hell yeah! Ron's daughter (committed to coming out, and braving the ride with Ron again....) Susan, better half of Eye Doc, MikeDaddy's girls - if we can get HIM to commit, then they're in (and they shoot better than him...)... I WON'T have "another half" with me this time, thank God... She was a disaster on a Spring Shoot last year or the year before... Fuk that... If we can get Larry's wife on this - she RUNS the camp. I'm pretty sure she was in, a few months ago. She RUNS the camp. When she's banging trashcans, you fuckers better get the hell out of bed and start training. Now.
  23. He was part of it, according to FN channel... He was the main motherfucker that ran this "camp..."
  24. The little ones are the life of the party, man!!! I have so many .22s its not even funny!!! Dylan is on the Crickett Precision Rifle, but that might not compare to the 10/22 you already tricked out!!! You need to tell her this is almost as good as a Dune Trip...
  25. You fucked it up. I can't even quote you... Lemme try this the old way, and copy/quote what you said... She won't be neglected all weekend - I'ma teach her to outshoot you, brother. Bet on that... Women learn easier than men do, because of that lack of bravado - women listen, then apply... Men say "Yeah, I knew that, and ... uh... RIght!" ***(Only works when you're not teaching your own spouse - your own spouse NEVER listens to you... because...) I will have all your ammo boxes wrapped up like Christmas Presents, too. I shiit you not... It's about 45 POUNDS of ammo, so this has to be special...
