Yep, start it low and check it. Do 5 of each and see what you get, at 41.2, 41.3, and 41.4. If you see them getting smaller towards 41.4, you can go up a tenth or two and see what you get - it'll still be safe at that.

My last load workup was Hornady 178gr BTHP in Hornady Match brass. CCI 200 primers and 41.4gr RL-15. You can up your 168gr charge a little, at 41.2 of RL-15 on yours - unless that's giving you some bitchin' accuracy. You can probably start your 175s at my 41.4gr, and work up a little. My 178s at 41.4gr/RL-15 are scary accurate on the 660 yard targets, man.

What's going on with Armalite gas port lengths and DPMS-spec'd barrels?... That's comparing apples to hammers, and not telling customers about it... Needs fixed in the barrel description on the website, or the gas port length needs to be changed to a real DPMS-based gas port length, or customers are screwed. And WE are screwed, here, fixing shiit... I love you guys, but come on... in the Large Frame ARs, details are EVERYTHING. Like, ALL of it...

You can get about 125-140 per pound of RL15 out o the 308s. You should easily have another 300 rounds of 308 out of that 2.5 lbs. What projectile are you loading for the .308? I can save you alot of time, and just give you a powder charge that borders on pure awesome.

Disregard - found it. You need an Armalite AR-10 rifle length gas tube, before we go further.

Gas tube is too short, first off. Right away. What's the gas system length on this rifle/carbine? You'll need to switch to an Armalite gas tube, for certain, to solve that issue, as issue #1.

For option 1, just weigh the brass, and sort loads by weight. External dimensions are the same, so heavier weighted brass has less internal volume. Report back with brass case weights, lowest and highest, and I'll give you a great recommendation on the amount of RL-15 you need for those Hornady 75s. That's my go-to shiit, right there. You could even weigh 10 at a time, and average - it's not going to matter that much, brother. EDIT - You'll only need about 2.5 lbs of that powder to load all 600... Get another 600 ready to go...

This might all be the mag catch, too. Bolt over base usually means the mag spring is too strong, and is shoving rounds up, on top of the bolt, before it can go into battery... They're a fucker to clear.

What other mags have you tried?... 2 x 25rd PMags is what I'm seeing. What Spike's gas tube? Details on it, though it's not the issue. Exact dimensions will help. Length. Take a pic and post it, of the gas tube in the upper receiver. Remove BCG, just a pic of how far the gas tube sits into the upper...

This is personal to me. That area is a shiithole, and I was on the deployment that Jay Blessing was killed by an IED on. He was the 2/75 Bn Armorer; Gary Toombs was the "contract civilian armorer" to the Bn, in the same HMMWV with JB when the IED went. CSM Toombs was a Company Sergeant Major in 2/1 SFG(A) when I was there the first time, and moved over to Ranger Bn as the civilian armorer after retirement from the Army. Bad MoFo. Much respect for him. He survived the IED that day, but it took the driver's compartment right out of the vehicle.
