  1. To the average person? No. For brute strength? Steel wins.
  2. Still haven't ordered my .338 Fed barrel yet - won't be able to do that until the 20th. It damn sure gets ordered that day, though. I like the workmanship, and I'm excited to get mine, brother! :hethan:
  3. That pretty much sums it up.
  4. Get your mount, and set it on top of your action - it might be flush, and require nothing. It might be "not flush" also. If you suspect it's not, put the rear bolt in and tighten it down. If the front of the rail isn't touching the action, then it's not flush. Switch, and do the same - one bolt in front, tighten, see if it's sticking up off the rear of the action. if it's not flush, you'll have to bed it. Use JB, seriously. Tighten down the front, and use the JB under the rear, set it up loosely with the screws in the back. Use black shoe polish as a release agent on the screw threads, and in the screw holes in the action, and in the top of the action where the JB will touch. Let that joker cure for days. The JB will harden, and become part of the rail base. I'm pretty positive there's a writeup on SH about it.
  5. Pfffff... Buy the Remington and put the Timney trigger in it...
  6. Damn, I like that little bastard!
  7. Nope, but you can if you want. Bed that thing with JB Weld and bolt it down. Seriously. Do you know the technique for bedding a top rail, Ed? No offense intended, it's a specific procedure.
  8. Wait, I have 3 of those now...
  9. Evolution Gun Works. I'd recommend that now, after buying 2 of them. They fuckin' rock. <thumbsup> http://www.egwguns.com/index.php?p=product&id=1400 They make that mount in 0 MOA, 20 MOA and 30 MOA. If you're going to use this rifle at various ranges, out to 1k, run the 20 MOA under a gooood scope with at least 50 MOA if internal elevation adjustment. If you'll ONLY be shooting long, say 800~1100, then get the 30 MOA.
  10. That adjustable buckle is the old rucksack shoulder strap adjusting buckles. Those things rock. They are the very reason I have so damn many VTAC slings. I've never thought about trying to find them individually, but if you've got 'em Jacob, I'll take some. <thumbsup>
  11. This is by far the funniest statement in the whole thread... <laughs> ...And THIS one... :hail: You snuck that one right in, brother...
  12. I love it... <lmao>
  13. I confirmed this today - spent about 30 minutes talking to a real good counter guy at the one in Scottsdale. He hasn't been able to order the packaged Bushnell TRS-25 for 3 months now. Hasn't been able to order a new AR for 2 months now. He was marking the 4 ARs they had to lower prices while I was there. He's got a nice Colt M4 package he was marking from $1700 to $1200 - included a Pelican case, flashlight, cleaning kit, med kit, emergency rations (no kidding), all kinds of shiit - all packaged from Colt. He stated that once everything is gone, they won't be able to order it anymore. Shotguns and bolt guns will stay, ammo will stay. This is the Colt package:
  14. Remington 85508.
  15. Mack, start them off right. Have them watch this - pick it up, and watch it with them on a weekend when they visit. You, and they, won't be disappointed. Right after that viewing, schedule them for an Appleseed Shoot. Find one local, make the time, get them all signed up, and go with them. You will be impressed by the program, brother, I guarantee you that - or I'll reimburse your registration fee for you. <thumbsup> https://appleseedinfo.org/ Hit this to find what's local to you: https://appleseedinfo.org/search-states-map.php
  16. You try the fuckin' wicked magnet yet, brother? Rip out one of the big 12" speakers in the sub box on your GOV, and use IT for the magnet... I'm just sayin'... <lmao> If the barrel is a shooter, save it. Even if you have to send it to ADCO, and pay. I still like the GOV sub box idea, though... You know you can get the sub box replaced, with some loquacious written reports... <laughs> <thumbsup>
  17. Right on - job very well done, man. <thumbsup>
  18. I'm not sure here, but I'm pretty positive Pappy knows about The Rule. I think he has 2 on order, and ONE for sale... <lmao> It's all in how you phrase it, and he phrased it all kinda wrong, to avoid The Rule...
  19. Damn, they might be out of business now... Just searched for one, no bueno, anywhere. Back in the day, it wasn't legal for Service Rifle competition, but those rules were for the M16/AR15 competition, well before the M110 category came on... Lesson 65b... <lmao>
  20. I've been rockin' the Sierra Precision SPR-1 since 2010. Fuckin' GREAT adjustable buttplate. Originally, I built my first .308AR after the "M110 design." I started with the A2 stock on it. Scope position, eye relief, etc., just wasn't what I wanted it to be. I found out about the Sierra Precision SPR-1 buttplate from Fulton Armory, after talking to them about the issues I didn't like with my rifle. They suggested it. And I bought it from them, immediately. Right after installing it on the A2, it was too much LOP. Right back onto the website, Fulton A1 stock body and shorter screw ordered, and away we went. That adjustable buttplate actually does MORE than the spec'd M110 stock does. Look at it closely, and it's easy to figure out. I love the fuckin' thing. :hethan: I've been telling you guys about it for 5 years now - and I don't think another single person here has tried it... <dontknow> The original build: SPR-1 installed:
  21. Damnit. This all just reminds me that I need to call Roger...
  22. Call Bill Geissele. Seriously. This is very good, too.
  23. Damn near - right next door to him. One IMPRESSIVE armory... :hail:
  24. Damn, that rifle looks good.
