Let's let this one rolling, men! Let's get some input on the completion - make recommendations to help my decision-making process along, and help me pick some parts to finish this beast. Here's where I sit now - stripped upper and lower is Matrix Aerospace, as well as the 11.5" rail - all from Chris Reideman at Central Florida Firearms. I receive the new D.Wilson Mfg complete BCG on Monday, and I'll strip down the bolt and send it to X-Caliber Barrel & Manufacturing for the barrel construction. http://x-caliber.net/main/xcal-page.asp?p=1 I'm having them make a 14.5" .338 Federal barrel with an AR15 midlength gas system length. It will be pinned with a muzzle brake to get to the 16" minimum legal length. I picked up the brake last week, and had it bored for .338. Now, decisions, decisions, decisions... Fire off recommendations for barrel profile. The intent for this rifle is punching pigs in Tejas. I'll walk with it, sit with it, lay prone with it, whatever. I don't foresee shooting a pig beyond 300 yards, so that's the reason for the shorter barrel - as well as weight of a shorter barrel. I'm torn between Govt profile, medium contour, etc. Not having a lightweight profile barrel made, though. Optics - recommendations, gents. I'll honestly need to see what the accuracy is at 100, 200, and 300 yards before I make a permanent decision, but I'm all ears for whatever you suggest. Trigger, charging handle, etc. All finishing parts, as well as iron sights. It'll have a collapsible stock on it, with Armalite AR10 receiver extension, but I don't have a decision on the buttstock yet. Let's get it on! Nothing, on Rene's rifle. I'm talking about other issues with the recoil system - I brought most of those up when I got mine. I was just glad to see that he switched it out.

I think this comment is... well, it's something. I know of this law, and don't agree with it. I will say this, though - the morning of 9-11-01, that $hit went down right before our morning PT formation. PT was immediately cancelled, all off-post personnel sent directly home to grab all their $hit and return directly - and we shut all gates to the compound and placed armed guards at all possible entrances. If you weren't assigned there, or a family member, you were NOT getting in. Fuk everyone else - you have no business here. Move the fuk out, see-ya, bye. We locked down a fenced-in compound ON a military installation with armed motherfuckers and a metric $hit-ton of live ammo and hardened gun trucks, at all locations. We never "got fined" or had $hit said to us about it. Some higher-ranking motherfuckers were turned away, and given a phone number to call if they felt different about it. Nothing ever came of it - and apparently, it wasn't "lawful" to do that... <dontknow>

^^^ I'm feelin' it. I'm not a fan of what AP is putting together for a recoil system, and I've stated the reasons. I switched mine over to the Armalite AR10 carbine receiver extension, EA1095 spring, and AR10 carbine buffer (which is an AR15 carbine H3 buffer). Much mo' betta operation. Folks, don't buy the AP carbine recoil system for this rifle until they get it figured out. I know they say they've had no complaints, but you have to consider the audience. They'll hear about it sooner of later, and sort it out. Until then, run the Armalite AR10 carbine recoil system on these things. <thumbsup>

Still happens - I had two civilian armorers in the SF Group that could handle anything you threw at them. They were major-factory certified armorers, and even handled factory warranty issues for Remington and Winchester in the geographic area. If you had a rifle warranty issue from those factories, and lived closer to them than the factory, it was sent to them to handle. Bad sum'bitches. :hail:

^^^ Exactly - he loads those 10s as hot as he can, so it's a double-weapon. He trains to land the bullet right on point of impact, and can still take out targets to his right, with speeding brass, 30 yards away... <lmao>

No Gen 2 for the 308 mags. The first series of LR20 Pmags were actually using the 5.56 Gen 2 tech - 5.56 Gen 1 Pmags had some issues in some rifles. LR20 introduction incorporated what the Gen 2 5.56 mags improved on already. They just didn't call the LR20 a Gen 2 mag, because it was a brand new introduction. After the 5.56 was upgraded with the Gen 3 improvements, they moved those improvements over to the LR mags.

Yes, lock time would be reduced.. And would it work? Maybe No. Because of Mass... Mass in motion. How much does a standard hammer weigh, and how much does a Titanium hammer weigh? That needs to be known, very first. If you have a steel 3-ounce hammer being energized by that hammer spring, what is the final energy of that mass-in-motion at the end of it's travel, when it impacts the firing pin? For $hits, lets call it 30-lb/ft of energy. Grab up a high-speed combat-fighting super-badass Titanium superhammer that weighs 0.5oz, and guarantees faster lock time. Proven, it'll lock faster, with the same spring - physics says it has to. However, that faster hammer weighs 2.5oz less than the stock hammer, and it only imparts 5-lb/ft of energy on the firing pin, and leaves you with misfires because of that. How's that hammer speed working for you now?... It's a balance, man, and more than that, it's a science - faster lock time might not be all that, if it imparts less energy, to the level that it's not reliable. What you're talking about is Golf. You can swing a lighter 3-Iron faster than you can swing a 9-Iron. Is that lighter 3-Iron gonna knock the ball further, or is the 9-Iron gonna knock the ball further?... Mass in motion... you need to balance it. There's no shortcut.
