What exact stock did you buy? Do you have a link to it from the Brownell's website? The MagPul PTR-91 stock isn't going to fit any .308 AR... None of them...

I've never cleaned a gas block. Gas pressure takes care of that for you, and blows everything into the gas key on the carrier, and right onto the bolt tail and into the carrier. Even with a .22LR conversion bolt in an AR - when the .22LR range session is done, plop in the 5.56 bolt, shoot a few 5.56 rounds off, and it blows any .22LR leading at the gas port right out of it. And into the carrier.

Gotta be careful about what category you're in, though. "Traveling" with firearms is different than shipping firearms to a different state, for your use when you get there. Big differences. Flying on a plane with them in checked baggage is "traveling with them." Shipping them ahead of time and flying in later isn't the same.

I wanted this rail section more than anything, but wanted something that I could mount all at once that would give me some good adjustment for 100 yards on this beast. I've been looking at the Skinner rear sights, Williams front FireSights, and a rear NECG Peep Sight - that thing rocks! Later, I may change some things up, but I had to fix my "zero" issue in the near term. Yes, a gas block with two set screws will work fine. The dimple is there so you can properly locate the gas block on the barrel in the correct position. The rear-most set screw lines up to hit into that dimple.

First question - is your friend an FFL? Gonna have to check state laws in both states - yours and Tejas... For most instances, not legal. It will, however, depend on both states in that circumstance. The legal way, from (almost) any state to (almost) any state - ship it to a local dealer at your destination. You either may or may not have to transfer it to yourself upon arrival (fill out another 4473). Seen that happen before. Best bet to find out the real deal is to call a local dealer at your destination and ask them those very specific questions. (*** I used "amost" any state on purpose - some states it just won't matter. Don't ship anything to CA, NY, CT, MA, CO, NJ, unless you're sending it to a gunsmith there, or a manufacturer there, and directly to them as an FFL/Manufacturer.) This sounds ridiculous, but it all deals with sending firearms across state lines, in accordance with varying state's laws. You need to make sure you're legal about it, because the consequences just aren't worth it. *** This post is not legal advice, and I am not a lawyer. As far as I know, Fulton Armory was the only ones doing this. Criterion made the barrel for them, and Holy Schit is the barrel nice. Haven't seen one on Fulton's website for several years now - Clint doesn't bring them in anymore because he says they didn't sell well. Several guys here have them.

Yep, light stoning/polishing is about it. One thing you have to watch on polishing - you can smooth and polish a surface, but you have to make absolutely sure you don't change any of the engagement angles. Many of the aftermarket triggers don't even use the same geometry as mil-spec triggers.

That's your elevation knob. That's what it'll do - up/down. Side knob is windage adjustment.

That's an AR-15 buffer length. Not gonna work in a DPMS-based .308 AR. That's the bulk of your problems, right there.
