Exactly what I thought when I read that. If that GS said there's a burr on the barrel that won't let it fully seat, then he has to be talking about a burr on the outside of the barrel extension, and it's not fully mounted in the upper receiver - would create too much headspace with the bolt. That would be a very easy fix. However, if he's talking about some burr in the chamber (most likely) that is scratching the case, stopping the case in the chamber, and not letting the bolt fully close - that shouldn't be a tough fix, either. Like others have said, I'd polish the chamber first...

I think they've had this model for awhile - can't remember. They were the first to have a real .338 LM AR, and they had other long-action calibers at the time that were overlooked because of the Lapua.

It'll be tough for prosecutors to get the SBR charge to stick, even with all the other things these dickheads did. Hold it up in court, give the definition of SBR, see it doesn't fit that definition, charge dropped. I'd like to think that's how it would go in a court in most other states, anyway - State the charge, view the evidence, debate the proof of the evidence...

So far with the PSA .308 rifles, we know this much: The PSA uppers work with the PSA lowers. Beyond that, we've heard that the PSA uppers don't work with some other lowers, and the PSA lowers don't work with some other uppers. It's a crapshoot with them, up to this point.

Any of you guys have one of these or shoot one yet? How is it? I'd really like to know!

They got their 80% lowers back. Well, they got most of them back. The ATF "lost" 18 of them. So, in the ATFs eyes, since these are "firearms," that means the ATF lost 18 firearms... I don't blame Beretta for complying - it's a dumbass place to put the safety. However, I do blame Beretta for the shitty slide life - that's all on them. No pistol made should have a slide life like that POS M9 does. That in itself is a waste of money. The way most M9s in the Army were used, they'd only reach taht slide life round-count maximum in 20 years - but for the people that actually shoot that POS, you can go through a slide in 6~12 months. So, IMHO, it's a piece of $hit. There are LOTS of pistols out there that are better, and well worth the cost of switching. The 226 should have won the contract in the first place.

AP does make SAA's stuff for them - they're right across I-5 from each other. <thumbsup>

Dan, that's a DPMS-patterned barrel, but not made by DPMS themselves. Contact Brownells and ask them who makes that barrel for them, as it's their house-branded barrel made for them by someone else.

For what it's worth, I haven't heard of many people having headspace issues when combining like-patterns. That doesn't mean "it's safe to not check headspace..." ALWAYS check headspace on these .308 ARs when you build them. The simple reason is: there's no Mil-Spec, no TDP to follow, no set-in-stone pattern or blueprint that manufacturers follow in order to make sure all parts are compatible/interchangeable. These aren't the smaller ARs, which do hve that going for them. Those are either in spec/in tolerance, or they're not. Not so here, with 3 major configurations (Armalite, DPMS, RRA), and a few minor configurations (Hogan and POF come to mind on that). So, if you've read about headspace problems, especially here, please link those threads into this one, so we can see what you're talking about. I'd like to revisit those threads, and see if the problems were from someone combining DPMS and Armalite parts (bolts/barrels). Fear not, man - we'll try to keep you straight. <thumbsup>

I completely understand it - and it's still an idiotic place to put it. It doesn't matter who decided it should be there, or why - just the fact that it's there makes the pistol suck even more. If you like the M9, more power to you. I can't stand it.

Right fucking ON! I love the M2. I still have a set of gauges someplace around here... <lmao> If your gunsmith has the gauges, and can check the headspace on a 308 bolt gun, then he can do it on one of these. Have him remove the ejector first, from the bolt, unless his gauges already have the ejector cut-out in them. <thumbsup>

Next bolt gun up for me is a 300 Win Mag. Remington 85508.
