I know they changed some part numbers, so maybe people are searching, seeing an old part number on some website, and some vendor is saying "Discontinued." Because it's the old part number. The M-308 is alive and well. Hit Nikon's website, guys. There are two versions of the M-308 on there, right now, on their own website. That's what I was afraid of, and why I didn't send mine back in. Took me a day to pick the trigger, pick it up from Timney, and install it. I didn't know how long the factory would take, but I knew it was going to take them longer than I wanted.

That's not even what a lead sled is for... Definitely helps you sight in for hunting - it sets the zero of the rifle, of it's own merits, and optic (if used), and it does it well. The rest is up to the hunter. You won't achieve a better zero by hand, than you will with the rifle in a rest. You have to do the rest, after that...

I use the RCBS handloading tool, and you can put the rod in there upside down - and it will do what you're seeing there. Unfamiliar with what you're using, but that's worth checking out. One side is tapered, one side is flat - you want the flat side seating your primers.

Nothing can beat a lead sled for the testing of the mechanical accuracy of a rifle. Nothing. It's extremely helpful when you're trying to determine the differences between loads - because it removes the "human factor." Shoot your group through a lead sled. When you can shoot that same group without the lead sled, you've perfected yourself. <thumbsup>

If this happened to you as often as you say (routinely attacked by a pack of wild dogs on your way home most evenings and frequently had to shoot them), then there has to be a pic out there somewhere. Only thing I can say is this - the .308 AR platform is not a cheap adventure. Nothing about it is. Research steel cased ammo extraction issues - Google Search it - and that will answer your questions. Do what you want. If you got into this platform to do it cheap, then this isn't the platform you were searching for. I'm just sayin'...

I did a good one, showing how to post pics, but I have no idea who it was to, or what the topic was - I hope someone can find it and link it here. In words - find an image hosting source (I use photobucket), upload the pic to that, view the image you uploaded, and you have the choice in PB to copy the direct image extension. When you post, click the image icon, (11th one over from the left, 9th one over from the right). Past that image extension into the space, and post the pic. Or, just click the "More Reply Optons" tab at the lower right when you're posting. Once you do that, you'll see an "Attach Files" tab at the lower left, once that screen loads - you can search out the image location from your computer hard drive, and attach it directly.
