Michael_D_Henry
I would like to shave some weight off the end of it. Not any barrel options I can see but a 16" carbine. Any suggestions?
Robocop1051
Have your current barrel cut and recontoured, maybe just fluted

Michael_D_Henry
Thanks for the welcomes. Who would be a gunsmith that would specialize in this and about much scratch would I be looking at to have it done?

Michael_D_Henry
Thanks for the advise, ar15barrels.com looks like the place to go.
Robocop1051
The guy at ar15barrels.com can be difficult to reach. Barrels are a side job, and his 9 to 5 job takes priority. If you don't hear from him soon, or you want faster service, www.adcofirearms.com has a full service shop.
Michael_D_Henry
randall@ar15barrels.com has already gotten back to me. Right after the first of the year, I'm sending my upper to him to cut off two inches and turn down the barrel to .75" diameter and thread the end of it. Robocop1051
Randall is an artist. I look forward to hearing/seeing the results
Robocop1051
Don't forget to send him a new .750 gas block as well. A lightweight, low-profile, gas block will take a few extra ounces away from where they're noticed the most.
FaRKle!
Thanks for the welcomes. Who would be a gunsmith that would specialize in this and about much scratch would I be looking at to have it done?If Randall gets too busy I HIGHLY recommend Marvin Pitts (Nefarious Arms). He's one of the few real SR-25 armorers and is the go to guy for ball milling/dimpling.I had him cut down an 18" MWS barrel to 16", dimple, and cerakote my MWS barrel. My work was about $300. Michael_D_Henry
Thanks for the welcomes.... My son wants me to build him a .308 too. Yep, I can see the Ben Franklins flying already. Just got through building my AR15 a short time ago. It turned out very nice, but deinitely wasn't cheap. Oh well, it's just money, right? 2336
Another welcome from Georgia. If Randall or Marvin are too busy you might want to contact John Thomas at Retro Arms Works. He's very reasonable and his turnaround is excellent. He's the one that turned down the barrel on my current project. Took it from .750 to .625 and mounted the A2 FSB.
