392heminut Posted December 11, 2014 Report Posted December 11, 2014 (edited) PSA has a pretty good deal on these scopes right now, they're normally $250! Guess what my grand daughters are getting me for Christmas! :)) http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/sights-optics/rifle-scopes/bushnell/bushnell-ar-optics-1-4x24mm-bdc-riflescope-ar91424.html Edited December 11, 2014 by 392heminut
shibiwan Posted December 11, 2014 Report Posted December 11, 2014 That's a good price but I recommend this one for about $100 more: http://www.amazon.com/Bushnell-Illuminated-Reticle-Riflescope-Turrets/dp/B00AU6EIIY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1418328172&sr=8-1&keywords=bushnell+1-4+pcl FFP, illuminated, and for that price? Hard to beat.
Microgunner Posted December 11, 2014 Report Posted December 11, 2014 I own the one Shibi linked to. The FFP reticle is very hard to see at 1x. It kinda ends up being a 4x only in real life use.
shibiwan Posted December 11, 2014 Report Posted December 11, 2014 Yep, it's like a red dot sight at 1x.
Microgunner Posted December 11, 2014 Report Posted December 11, 2014 Except there's no distinct dot. The whole reticle lights up giving a vague aiming reference. Good enough I suppose for CQB.
98Z5V Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 Except there's no distinct dot. The whole reticle lights up giving a vague aiming reference. That's called "astigmatism..." <dontknow>
98Z5V Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 I'm almost there. I'll try lasers first, and have them carve my eyeballs all up. If they can make my eyes glow red like Terminator, then I'm IN!
Microgunner Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 No, the reticle has no dot so the cross hairs and bullet drop compensator lines light up and at that tiny size on 1x it's just an indistinct aiming refference. I already wear bifocals, as is proper for old farts.
392heminut Posted December 13, 2014 Author Report Posted December 13, 2014 I'm almost there. I'll try lasers first, and have them carve my eyeballs all up. If they can make my eyes glow red like Terminator, then I'm IN! I had Lasik about 12 years ago, best money I ever spent!
shibiwan Posted December 13, 2014 Report Posted December 13, 2014 The lasik procedure freaks me out. No lasik for me. Besides, I'll go blind because something's gonna inevitably hit me in the eye and I have no glasses to protect me.
blue109 Posted December 13, 2014 Report Posted December 13, 2014 id like to be able to see again....but I just refuse to seek medical help for any reason outside of imminent death/disfigurement. can't even bring myself to get a free eye exam and new glasses, and my old ones are so scratched up I can barely use them. keep meaning to since my insurance is gone in a few Weeks, but It never happens.
unforgiven Posted December 13, 2014 Report Posted December 13, 2014 (edited) As an old fart I also have bi-fukules .Got flashed around Thanksgiving from fitters welding in close proximity, arc reflecting off duct work.I was real uncomfortable for about a week. Edited December 13, 2014 by unforgiven
planeflyer21 Posted December 16, 2014 Report Posted December 16, 2014 Eye problems suck. My buddy was at work in the machine shop, dutifully wearing his safety glasses. He went into the break room for lunch, got a burger out of the vending machine and heated it up in the microwave. Peeling back that funky foil-paper those come wrapped in, he removed his safety glasses, went to take a bite...and jabbed the pointy corner into his eye.
Microgunner Posted December 16, 2014 Report Posted December 16, 2014 Your buddy stabbed himself in the eye with a hamburger? As long as I've lived I never thought I'd hear that statement.
