.308LiteHunter
I joined this forum back in April of 2013. The main reason was to learn more about my gun and learn how to modify and upgrade it if needed. I never would have thought that I would be on this forum almost daily for the past couple of years. This place, this community has not only given me a wealth of information, but has become almost addictive. I love checking in to see what everyone has been up to with their latest projects, builds and reloading. I have had my questions answered with respect and friendliness. Bottom line this place is awesome. So..what does any of that have to do with a pistol build? After deciding that I wanted to build a 300 Blackout Pistol I wanted to purchase the things that I could for the build from members here. Shibiwan want was obviously up to something, so I contacted him. If he was making his own lowers I definetly wanted one. He wasn't quite ready with them so I waited, and although it doesn't say "Merchant of Doubt" on it, it is really nice. I told him what I wanted in an upper and he built just what I wanted. I spent just a hair over my budget but how can you pass up cerakote? Next up, I had to get a Beachin Tactical sling because how can you not want to support a guy like Brothers Beach! I know I'm not the first to do this, and I sure hope I'm not the last. These guys make great products so why not support them and indirectly this community. .308LiteHunter
Well I finally got to run out to the range for a little while. I loaded up 3 factory 187's from Gemtech in a 10rd pmag. It functioned fine and the bolt locked back after the last shot. Well that was the highlight of the shoot. After that for some reason the gun became a single shot. It would get jammed up with the fired brass half ejected and the next round trying to chamber. I thought maybe the new 10 rounder might be affecting something so I tried a few other mags, same thing. I then tried some supersonic handloads. 125's, 150's and 155's. Same thing... To me it seems like the bolt is moving to fast for the process, not going back far enough to allow time for the process, or both. PSA Carbine spring and buffer. What do you guys think? survivalshop
Check your Ejector & Extractor for proper movement & any Burr's that can cause them to hang up . If the action fired three rounds with out a problem & the mag held the BCG back on last round , sounds like the Buffer & spring are functioning properly . Now after that , something happened some where . Running her wet ? Check components for anything out of the ordinary . Broken spring(s) , Gas block loose or moved , Carrier Key loose or not sealed , things like that .
.308LiteHunter
Ill pull out the BCG and take it apart. It's pretty much brand new only been used for maybe a box of ammo. It was lubed up, it has the NIB coating so I didn't get crazy with it. Also I should have mentioned in the last post that I took the upper off and tried it on a different lower ( carbine spring/ buffer) and had the same issue. So I'm not sure it's and ejector/extractor issue, but ill look that one over as well.
392heminut
Check your gas block to see if it has moved forward!
survivalshop
I have seen broken springs for the Extractor or Ejector cause problems you are describing . As was said, the gas block may also be suspect. The magazines can also cause this kind of issue , try a different brand of Mag., ya never know . edgecrusher
Try a heavy buffer to slow down your cyclic rate if the bolt checks out.
392heminut
Cyclic rate usually isn't an issue with this caliber, it's pretty low powered as far as gas pressures go. That's why I'm thinking his gas block might have moved, it wouldn't take much. Most of these 300 BLK barrels have a MINIMUM of .090 for the gas port as opposed to a 5.56 port which is usually .070. .308LiteHunter
So I disassembled the pistol. Cleaned it real good and broke down the BCG. The extractor and ejector seem to be working, springs are working fine. The gas block doesn't appear to have moved any. I weighed the buffer and it's 2.95 oz with a carbine spring. Is that to light? The other lower I tried also has a carbine spring but the buffer is to heavy to way on my 100g scale. It has an h on the front. Is that an h buffer? Probably somewhere between 4-5 oz but that's just guessing. The BCG on that lower also checked out.
98Z5V
This is a Shib upper, so I know that gas port is probably 0.100". I'd wait for him to chime in on his BLK pistol, and it's lower config. See what he's running, buffer wise...

survivalshop
He already did that SS. He said a few other mags , but didn't say what manufacture , all PMags ? Or some mix of PMags & metal mags ? That be why I asked. <dontknow> I don't see bolt bounce ether . Wonder how the chamber looks , rough ? So I disassembled the pistol. Cleaned it real good and broke down the BCG. The extractor and ejector seem to be working, springs are working fine. The gas block doesn't appear to have moved any. Did you remove the Extractor & Ejector from the Bolt ? What Bolt Carrier is being used , M16 , AR 15 ?
