roy2mustang Posted May 4, 2015 Report Posted May 4, 2015 First, I would like to apologize for bringing up a topic that repeats so often, but here I am. I am looking for a scope that is Around $600 Ffp Enough internal adjustment for 800-1000 yard shooting Bonus points for mil adjustment/reticule and great warrantys/company reputations
shibiwan Posted May 4, 2015 Report Posted May 4, 2015 (edited) Vortex Viper PST or the HS-LR. Available in MRAD (i.e. mils) or MOA FFP reticles. Only difference between the models is the illuminated reticle on the PST. Edited May 4, 2015 by shibiwan
wetncold Posted May 4, 2015 Report Posted May 4, 2015 Primary Arms 4-14 mil/mil. Then take the $500+ you save and buy a load of good ammo.
StainTrain Posted May 4, 2015 Report Posted May 4, 2015 Is this just for target shooting or will you be hunting (or having to identify targets with specificity) with it too?
AngelDeVille Posted May 4, 2015 Report Posted May 4, 2015 I have the primary arms 4-14 acts reticle on my .308, and the Nikon 4-9 p223 on my toy gun. The clarity of the Nikon has left wanting to try the .308 version of the Nikon. Not that the Primary Arms is bad, but the Nikon is better.
BlazenT45 Posted May 9, 2015 Report Posted May 9, 2015 I have a Nikon 4-9 slughunter on my .458socom and I really like it. I'm almost to the point of looking for optics for my .308 I will take a serious look at Nikon.
BlazenT45 Posted May 10, 2015 Report Posted May 10, 2015 This is the first five shot group at 85yds after bore sighting it by eye. She's fun to shoot too, but I can't wait to get behind my .308.
Robocop1051 Posted May 10, 2015 Report Posted May 10, 2015 I'm going in a different direction as these guys... If you're only shooting long range, why do you need variable? If you're not getting variable, you save a lot of money by not buying FFP. A fixed 20x scope will do long range with ease, and save your pocket from burn marks. Get a canted LaRue one piece mount and you're still under your original budget. http://swfa.com/SWFA-SS-20x42-Tactical-30mm-Riflescope-P502.aspx
BlazenT45 Posted May 10, 2015 Report Posted May 10, 2015 Nice, I never considered a fixed power scope. Don't know about Roy but the main range I shoot at only go's out to 200yds. But I'd like to be able to get out to 500 or 600yds too.
98Z5V Posted May 11, 2015 Report Posted May 11, 2015 Nice, I never considered a fixed power scope. Don't know about Roy but the main range I shoot at only go's out to 200yds. But I'd like to be able to get out to 500 or 600yds too. Robo wasn't directing that at you, Blazen. He was directing that at the OP, who was asking about a scope - when you jumped into his thread with a .458 SOCOM rifle... <lmao> You thread-jacked it, then thought the provided information was for you... <laughs>
BlazenT45 Posted May 11, 2015 Report Posted May 11, 2015 Gotcha, sorry to hijack the thread I'll keep my two cents in my pocket from now on.....lol
D.R.D. Posted May 11, 2015 Report Posted May 11, 2015 · SWFA Super Sniper 3-15x42 FFP MilQuad Reticle 24oz. $700 · Weaver Tactical 3-15x50 Mil EMDR Reticle 27oz. $700
Robocop1051 Posted May 11, 2015 Report Posted May 11, 2015 I think even Blazen would benefit from a fixed 4x scope. Think of the fat .45 with a Trijicon ACOG on top!
98Z5V Posted May 11, 2015 Report Posted May 11, 2015 Gotcha, sorry to hijack the thread I'll keep my two cents in my pocket from now on.....lol Don't worry about it - regardless of how bad we've fucked the OPs thread all up - that is a NICE .458! <lmao>
BlazenT45 Posted May 11, 2015 Report Posted May 11, 2015 Well it just so happens I'm looking for a .308 scope too, why I started to read the thread in the first place. And thank you for the compliment but it's just a .458 not a .308......lol
blue109 Posted May 11, 2015 Report Posted May 11, 2015 Gotcha, sorry to hijack the thread I'll keep my two cents in my pocket from now on.....lol Actually...threadjack. is sort of SOP round 'chere, so no worries.
AngelDeVille Posted May 11, 2015 Report Posted May 11, 2015 Usually threads don't go to poop until page 2, I think we are getting better at it.
BlazenT45 Posted May 11, 2015 Report Posted May 11, 2015 I really do like Nikon, there glass and the reticle are nice in low light. But the M-308 4-16X42 only has 40moa internal adjustment. Don't know much about long range scopes, is that enough for 500 to 700 yds?

gsmopar Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 I have 2 scopes from Hawke Optics and like them. http://www.opticsplanet.com/hawke-sport-optics-riflescopes.html http://www.hawkeoptics.com/
BlazenT45 Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 Vary nice rifles, what distance do you usaly shoot with them?
