Sisco
Good info, especially if you are using a red dot for a home defence weapon. Chances are, you will use it at night, so don't have the default setting on max.
unforgiven
That's whats nice about the EoTech,it goes on that the last setting left. You can go down to where you can see seperate pixels or high to bright bloom.
blue109
Good info. I'll admit I need to practice that. I think I'm guilty of running mine too bright. Honest question...anyone else here "practice" This stuff when home alone? Lol. I don't get out to the range enough, and it's been over a decade since I got to play soldier, but I do try to keep up with my basic mall ninja rifle handling stuff. Just try to keep mag changes and transitions somewhat smooth. Muscle memory and whatnot. Sometimes I feel kinda silly.

I find the green more appeasing to my eyes too and I've got pretty good vision
survivalshop
I had the chance to switch back & forth with green & red on a Buck in the woods a couple of years ago & I was able to see the green quicker for some reason . Over cast day , but light enough to see easily with the naked eye . More pleasant to the eye , maybe ? <dontknow>
blue109
My weaver has green and red and I like the green better. My friends trijicon has Amber, and there are some places out in the desert where the triangle totally gets lost in the background.
ChaseFan9
The human eye can naturally distinguish more shades of green quicker than any color in the visible spectrum. I think it has something to do with us being hunters or something.

My vortex also can be switched between red and green I prefer the green
jtallen83
I prefer my green laser over my red as well. The green seems to have better range at night but the battery doesn't seem to last as long, really not enough to make a big difference though. I've got a cheap Tru-glo dot sight with both colors on my 22/45 that the kids use, they seem to gravitate to the green setting as well. ChaseFan9
I've also noticed that staring at red light for extended periods tends to make it hard for your eyes to focus and can lead to headaches and such. Speaking of, didn't 1st gen thermal imaging tech use a red filter or something?
blue109
I had a LDI OTAL red laser. Pretty high end military type device. I think my off the shelf viridian green lasers blew it out of the water in terms of brightness and daylight visibility. They did eat batteries though.
