Always carry a cleaning rod in your case

Just a reminder to keep a cleaning rod with you.... I usually have a cleaning rod in my rifle case so when I get to the range if I need it I got it. Well I forgot to put it back the other day and it bit me in the ass. Brought the 308 and the AK to the range this morning to get in some happy time and started running some surplus brass cased ammo through the 308. 2nd mag in and I had a jam....WTF? Been running sweet lately. Clear the jam and see a spent case in the chamber with the rim ripped off, no biggie. Except my cleaning rod was back home on the reloading bench! Dammit

So I took out my frustration and beat the snot out of some steel targets with the AK. Murphy's law

Damn, brother, you sheared that rim clean off! Great advice, seems like you never need it 'til you don't got it.

BTW, I caught the same bug yesterday (minus the stuck casing), my WASR's STILL warm :D

what's funny is, I don't use a cleaning rod for cleaning, but I keep one in the range bag

I learned that ong ago. Tula got stuckin my sks. Was shooting out in the desert in vegas and no cleaning rod with me. Looks around because people dump crap out there all the time. Found a piece of brakeline. Did the trick and is still in my range bag to this day

Had a 3 piece cleaning rod in my range bag for years - never take it out for just the reason you told us about. If I never need it at least it's there.

Had that happen to me when I was chronographing some 300 BLK loads in my AR pistol. No cleaning rod so I took a rod off the chrono sky screen and used that!
