Sorry guys

I have been gone for a long, long time.

Basically, I was doing a gun show 2-3 times a month, making slings, and selling knives.

I have now decided to take part in my buddies company, Dry Creek Forge, which I co own.

Now i have Bladeshow coming up!

BUT! I did a video interview with James Yeager recently, and I am hoping to be back in the sling industry big pretty soon here!

So, I will try to stick around better. Glad to be back!

How's your wife's build going I wanted to ask on IG but didn't wanna spoil it

Oh! Her build is done, but I mixed a couple springs up (trigger & bolt catch) and now I have to do it over.

Except there is a problem with the lower... Or the parts kit that I got. Eh it sucks

Yup, that is me. But that isn't the worst part.

So, the front pivot pin spring and detent. I put them into the lower, and the detent got stuck, and wasn't working. I thought "oh there must be a little machining bur in there, and if I push it down more, I can probably work it back and for and it will loosen up..."

NOT!!!

I pushed it in more, and it stayed. I tried prying on the spring from the hole in the side, nothing.

I tried everything that I could think of. Then I thought of what I should not have thought of.

I thought, that detent is brass... it should be pretty soft, I bet that I can just drill it out, no big deal.

Nope.

All fail. AAaaallllll fail.

:/

Are you saying you can access the spring through a hole in the side?  Don't have that kind of access on any lower I have.  Assuming you do and the drilling didn't totally booger the hole from the front, I'd try first a little Kroil oil which is great at  penetration, perhaps a little heat gun, and then see if you can get some air pressure through that hole where you accessed the spring.  Likely have to mouse together some kind of nozzle for that.  Maybe cut the end off of an inflator needle?

Just kind of grasping at a straw or two.  Like Robo says, you would, in fact, be amazed at some other guys' (OK, MY) fookups.

How bad did you screw up the Receiver , by the drilling method ?   I don't think those Detents are made of Brass, Anodized Brass color , maybe .

The oiling hole on the side can be used ,as said , to use air pressure to force it out , depending on several factors . The Detent can only go so far in the passage , the spring is long & fully compressed will limit it. You could use something like a Torch tip cleaner to hone the part of the passage you can get it in , the cleaning tool has a wide range of sizes to get a size that will fit , but still clean any Burr's that may be holding the Detent or Spring . Then use oil in the oiling hole & air pressure to see if it will move .

I check all new Receivers to make sure passages are clear of debris or burr's from machining process .
