Jetdoc Posted April 30, 2017 Author Report Posted April 30, 2017 Well I just came back from my first shoot. It wasn't bad, a few FTF with American Eagle 308 ammo , a few short strokes but it settled down nicely with premium ammo. At 50 yards the picture shows my last groupings those being the center shots.......BUT I was aiming at the top target dead center about 13"higher. Ive mounted a few scopes in my day but never had one this far off. I have a theory why but would appreciate your comments before I share mine thoughts. 1st Group 1" low 4" far right 2nd Group 1"low 1" to 2" left 3rd .5" low .5 left. This is where I stopped and my elevation has me baffled. Thoughts Gents?
jtallen83 Posted April 30, 2017 Report Posted April 30, 2017 I wouldn't sweat the elevation deal yet, I have noticed a change in POI as I go through break in procedures on new barrels. Should settle in by 50 rounds through.

unforgiven Posted April 30, 2017 Report Posted April 30, 2017 It has been the case here from others that inconsistent shot groups pointed to something loose. Just my 2 mags.
Jetdoc Posted April 30, 2017 Author Report Posted April 30, 2017 I feel like a A++ HOLE ....Have you ever had a day where you've brain farted? Well that's what I had. I was over thinking the problem. I was assuming the upper had to be lapped. I went back to the range and did what I should have done in the first place, keep adjusting elevation up! All is great now! She's sighted in and I was dinging the steel at 300 yrds. It does that effortlessly. Happy Days!!!!
Jetdoc Posted April 30, 2017 Author Report Posted April 30, 2017 I walked the shots up and problem solved.
Jetdoc Posted April 30, 2017 Author Report Posted April 30, 2017 The black diamond in the distance is the 300 yrd target, those are my orange targets just to the left on the 100 line.
Jetdoc Posted April 30, 2017 Author Report Posted April 30, 2017 (edited) I took the Trijicon off and purchased a Nightforce SHV 3X10X42 and a Warner mount. The rapid transition sights were a really tight fit with the Trijicon. Edited April 30, 2017 by Jetdoc
