DNP
There were two in the pistol grip? That an Armalite thing?... most rifles have one in the pistol grip for the safety selector detent and one in the rear for the take down pin detent. Don't think any ship with spares. jtallen83
Never had the grip off my AR-10 so I can't be 100% sure it isn't a spare but then even if it is I would replace it. A replacement spring pack from Armalite is relatively inexpensive. https://www.armalite.com/product/ea6000-ar10-spring-replacement-kit/
98Z5V
If you have two springs at the pistol grip... The larger one is the safety detent spring, smaller one is the takedown detent spring. DPMS does the same thing on their LR-308 lowers - both springs go in from the bottom. Takedown goes in from the back on AR15s, and alot of the newer 308AR follow suit. Edited February 16, 2018 by 98Z5V
Rsquared
^^^^98 nailed it. All of my 10B's have both springs on the bottom. As was said, swapping it out is fairly inexpensive too.

survivalshop
They are two different Springs , the one for the disassembly Pin detent is the same as the one for the Pivot Pin Detent , but the Safety Detent Spring is different & is stiffer . As seen below as the darker colored one . Edited February 16, 2018 by survivalshop
lilmidtown
Is it still safe to operate without the spring for the takedown pin? Btw this is my first AR I'm very inexperienced with building them so any help I'm very grateful for I'm not gonna pretend to know what I'm talking about to sound cool haha. Not really , the Pin will just fall out with out anything holding the Pins Detent in the Pins Grove to hold it in from falling out . You can find any spring that will fit in the hole & long enough to hold the Detent inlace till the correct one shows up . If the spring you have is functional , even if bent , use it till a new one arrives .

Parts don't have a shelf life. BUT.....sometimes they tend to grow into completely new rifles.......and the cycle continues.
