Hi everyone, new to the 308ar world. A bit of backstory on myself is that I bought a m5 lower right before covid and then life happened, years later going through the safe I found it in the original box and figured it was time to finish it.
I start researching for parts and come to find out that Aero no longer makes parts or the company is shut down, so here I am thinking I have nothing more than a paperweight now. Luckily a friend turned me onto a local shop I never heard of but I give it a shot, low and behold he actually has a m5 upper hiding away somewhere in the shop and even though it's a different color than the lower, I am still ecstatic to at least have a matching receiver set. After getting that sorted, I set out to actually finish this build but had many questions as their is no milspec/standardization compared to the ar15. I happened across this site while researching and realized and their is a TON of knowledge here, with very helpful members so I joined. Hopefully after a few years of sticking around and learning I can start helping other members as well.

That is how most of us have developed.

Welcome aboard, man!  If you're sitting on Aero M5 receivers,  we can make everything else work.  Not a problem.

Fire off questions anytime you have them - someone will answer.

Welcome aboard from the peoples republic of Marylandstan. The light wallet is a by-product of the enablers around here.

Thank god I've never been one of them. :lmao:

Hello from another ban state dweller as well ,as I am in the peoples republic of NY. Just curious how you made yours "compliant" as in Ny, the most common thing to do is pin the mag which is what I did.

Oh, Shiit!  That sucks, man, but we can work through it.

All of my stuff, at least what wasn't lost in the great boating accident, was built prior to a lot of the state nonsense that resides around here these days. But a lot of it was also done using the ATF 'Form 1' NFA method.

That is exactly how the trap works. You start out telling yourself it is just one decent rifle and a sensible optic, then somebody says “impact” way out there and suddenly you are pricing glass, chronographs, bags, dope cards, better triggers, and ammo like you have no dependents and no power bill. But yeah, when steel rings that far out, it does make the wallet pain fade for a minute. Then you miss the next one and decide it must be the equipment’s fault, naturally.

You obviously know where the Intro Section is, since you're replying in it right now.  How about you get in here, make your own thread, and rip it up about you - and introduce yourself.  Spill it...   Get to it.

I'll wait...
