My wife picked me up a DPMS (style) lower from Quentin Defense for valentines day.  I've been researching parts for the last few weeks (nothing is available) and am considering a CMMG upper.  Are there any pro/cons to this combination, or should I stick to DPMS uppers for this build?  Thanks!

CMMG is almost like a bad four letter word around here. There is certainly a prevalence of bad experiences. Take that at face value, but I'm sure the voice of the CMMG-specific experience will concur.

They use good components, but they're just slapping them together, or so it seems, these days.  OP, if you're prepared to go into the upper, tighten gas block, tighten barrel nut, etc, then you should be okay.  If you're expecting to shoot it out of the box, it might work, might not.

If you're building your own upper from CMMG parts, then you're good to go - the parts are good.

Well that's gonna stir it up. Get ready for the barrage of manufacture names.  <lmao>

Times like this make me glad that I'm an Armalite pusher. I'll just sit back and watch.  <laughs>

Everything is on back order so it is moot at this point.  I'd like a 18" complete upper, what is the preferred make?

I think for most people, the preferred make is "the one I can get shipped to me soonest"
