washguy Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 Hi Haystack you cant go wrong with the mega! consider shorter barrels too...both of my 16" shoot 500 yds moa ..so does my 18" you might consider the apex front end...very light Wash
Haystack Posted June 21, 2013 Author Report Posted June 21, 2013 Got my receiver set earlier today as well as a Geisele Super Dynamic trigger 3-Gun trigger. Had SSA's, but I didn't particularly like the 2 stage. If I ever upgrade (highly unlikely) I'll get a Tricon. Now to choose my barrel and rail

DNP Posted June 22, 2013 Report Posted June 22, 2013 Right on...have you started collecting for the next one yet?
Haystack Posted June 22, 2013 Author Report Posted June 22, 2013 Not yet. I doubt their will be another one; just different upper set ups; unless I decide to one up this build
Haystack Posted June 22, 2013 Author Report Posted June 22, 2013 Alright; I have a question on buffer and stock selection. What other manufacturers are their of stocks? I like the Battleline Industries S.A.P.R. collapsible stock with adjustable l.o.p. and comb height. But the Magpul P.R.S. is non-length adjustable. From yalls experience what is the best "precision" rifle stock for my rifle? Cost doesn't matter; quality does.
edgecrusher Posted June 22, 2013 Report Posted June 22, 2013 But the Magpul P.R.S. is non-length adjustable. From yalls experience what is the best "precision" rifle stock for my rifle? Sure it is, I think there is 3" available.
BLKSHEEP Posted June 22, 2013 Report Posted June 22, 2013 Sure it is, I think there is 3" available. Magpul PRS all the way! it's adjustable for l.o.p. & comb height......
Haystack Posted June 22, 2013 Author Report Posted June 22, 2013 SOLD! Magpul P.R.S. in o.d. and a Magpul M.I.A.D. grip. Phase 5 Tactical lever; B.A.D. A.S.S. safety, then gotta find a mag release
BLKSHEEP Posted June 22, 2013 Report Posted June 22, 2013 SOLD! Magpul P.R.S. in o.d. and a Magpul M.I.A.D. grip. Phase 5 Tactical lever; B.A.D. A.S.S. safety, then gotta find a mag release Just make sure you buy the Magpul PRS for the AR-10/SR/25, The AR-15,M-4,M-16 model will not fit correctly! I've been down that road :ugone2far:
Robocop1051 Posted June 22, 2013 Report Posted June 22, 2013 SOLD! Magpul P.R.S. in o.d. and a Magpul M.I.A.D. grip. Phase 5 Tactical lever; B.A.D. A.S.S. safety, then gotta find a mag release Norgon Ambi mag release.
edgecrusher Posted June 23, 2013 Report Posted June 23, 2013 Norgon Ambi mag release. I like the Troy ambi mag release
Rsquared Posted June 23, 2013 Report Posted June 23, 2013 Don't forget the heavy buffer from Clint @ heavybuffers.com World of difference when it comes to recoil.
Haystack Posted June 23, 2013 Author Report Posted June 23, 2013 I cannot find a barrel that can print the MOA I want. What are the top 3 barrel makers? Krieger is back ordered, Shilen doesn't produce a 308 Semi-auto barrel (that I could find), what are other upper-level barrels? I'll file through the different mag releases later. So my lower should be done soon (money permitting)
Robocop1051 Posted June 23, 2013 Report Posted June 23, 2013 My barrel was made from a Satern blanks. Also, Mike Rock from Rock Creek barrels makes a good chunk of metal. Wilson combat and Noveske make really nice barrels too.

BLKSHEEP Posted June 23, 2013 Report Posted June 23, 2013 All of these are known to be excellent. http://www.riflebarrels.com/products/ar_10.htm http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=2239 http://www.lothar-walther.com/473.php http://www.bartleinbarrels.com/index.htm http://www.jprifles.com/1.4.1_barrel.php http://www.kriegerbarrels.com/AR_10DPMS_LR-c1246-wp3393.htm#AR-10/DPMS-LR http://saternmachining.com/custom_barrel_prices http://www.gaprecision.net/ http://www.fulton-armory.com/barrelfatitan20nmhbarss1x12936gasblock.aspx http://criterionbarrels.com/ProductPages/AR10.html
Haystack Posted June 23, 2013 Author Report Posted June 23, 2013 See how available Lothar Walther and Satern are; what barrels do Larue use? Shilen blanks?
BLKSHEEP Posted June 23, 2013 Report Posted June 23, 2013 (edited) I'll add lothar Walther to that, it's the barrel in my OBR The OBR that Edge referred to is a LaRue. That Rainier Ultra Match barrel uses a Shilen blank, I wouldn't expect to find any top barrels in stock. Edited June 23, 2013 by BLKSHEEP
Haystack Posted June 23, 2013 Author Report Posted June 23, 2013 Dang. I'll look into getting a blank machined from an already have gunsmith owned barrel. I'd like 5R rifling, but want the best available. What barrel maker does the military use for M24 barrels?

Mike Creek & Obermeyer ,.All the barrels listed above are equal to or better than what's on the m24. imo. Edited June 24, 2013 by BLKSHEEP
Haystack Posted June 24, 2013 Author Report Posted June 24, 2013 Wow. Well now to find one. Thinking the JP or Lilja, unless yall say otherwise. Heavy contour or no?
Haystack Posted July 11, 2013 Author Report Posted July 11, 2013 Anybody have experience with a Rainier Ultramatch barrel?
george_995 Posted July 11, 2013 Report Posted July 11, 2013 I have a Rainiers 18" Select 308 barrel on my maten build. It shoots Sub Moa groups with my reloads.
Haystack Posted July 12, 2013 Author Report Posted July 12, 2013 Is their a better barrel in the same general price range? I don't want to buy a barrel and not have it perform to spec. They're made from Satern blanks (I think) so its a good platform to build off of with the right rate of twist. I'll get a 20 inch barrel due to my own preference of a longer barrel for better accuracy at range, and I weight isn't an issue for me.
