shepp
Very lucky on your part. Residential techs usually get stuck with the worst two sides of a home to work in: The top, and the bottom. Neither are worth a flying fish turd 99.9% of the time. Senior year of high school I started in a tin shop summers I worked on install and helping techs, I did that two years didn't like being laid off late winter, or dealing with home owners. The company I work for now does mainly grocery stores it has its days but much better then res. You want to talk about work and heat? It's 2 am right now, the floor reads 103* with an IR gun, and my machine is 600*. Earlier we climbed inside and spent 45 mins in there changing metal screen filters. Yup, hot. And everything in here is water cooled, so 100% humidity I know what your saying my mom worked with powdered metal furnaces, that god she retired last oct poop was killing her. 392heminut
Meanwhile, in Tucson...we're about 15-20 degrees below our normal summer temps right now. Yup, same here in New Mexico, mid 70's to mid 80's all this last week. Week before was triple digits. Weird!

imschur
Friday was our hottest and most humid day. I was lucky enough to be able to work at my desk all day on a drawing. After lunch just to be a wise ass I walked out on to the factory floor with a Dunkin Donuts "Great One" in hand and proceeded to announce that I bought the coffee and came out in the plant because it was too cold in the office. So get this We have a new water fountain and the company subsidies drinks from the machines. A quarter gets you water, juice and soda etc. I wont even go into people cleaning out the machines and taking the soda home. Anyhow despite this my job being both head of maintenance and director of IT allows me to have a company credit card. During the brutal weather every other day on my way to work I stop at the grocery store for 6 cases of water and a shit load of ice. Essentially way more than enough for two days/two shifts. Within an hour the employees start hording and hiding water. it's ridiculous. Aside from that they write there name on a bunch and put them in the fridge and freezer. At the end of the shift they think I dont notice but they take their marked and hidden water home. Essentially they are screwing themselves for the next day. Well last week a machine operator, a woman goes off on me that the coolers are empty and it's not right that the company is not keeping the coolers full. Keep in mind Im doing this to be nice. They dont work for me. nobody asks me to do this. Anyhow she's not angry because we are out of water she's angry because Im not physically taking the cases of water and refilling the coolers all day as needed. Now here's the best part I have water at my desk, bought by me. She goes in and starts taking my room temp waters. Now here's the real pisser. This same woman has a very sick husband. On her behalf I often fix her hours for time she misses to take her husband for treatments. I could lose my job for this. She also asks me to order vitamins from Amazon for her husband. I rarely take her money.... The whole situation pisses me off

392heminut
Had a helluva rainstorm here last night! I went out about 11:00 PM and sat on the patio for about 30 minutes and just watched the rain and lightning! Night before last they had something called a 'micro-burst' down in Columbus that tore the roof off the old school house and damaged several mobile homes. Some were originally saying it was a tornado due to the damage, but being a Kansas native I didn't think so. Tornadoes are extremely rare in SW New Mexico. Fortunately no one was injured, seems a lot of the damaged mobile homes belong to people who actually live just across the border in Palomas Mex. and were unoccupied. They have them so they have a legitimate US address and can milk our govt. assistance programs!

DNP
Whatever you do...live as far from the trailer park as you possibly can!! Those things seem to generate shitty weather.... Must be some sort of static from all of the properly spaced materials.

We've had a few storms here over the years like that they like to call them that and straight line winds, I think it's the insurance companies way of getting outta tornado damage, problem is they are just as damaging. Had a hell of a lightning storm Monday night here. i stood in the back yard and tried getting some bolt photos but failed I did get some cool shots tho

Must be some sort of static from all of the properly spaced materials. I'm 30 miles from there so that's not a problem. The closest trailer park to me is about 1/2 mile away, but I think your theory has some merit Dirk!
DNP
Lol...it's not really my theory, but I buy into it! Funny how we have threads bitching about the snow, and threads bitching about the heat. If all you guys would move to so cal, we could out number the damn libs and take this place back.

unforgiven
If you get a chance watch lightning thru a welding hood. You get some good definition of bolt and look wacky at the same time.
