Bates Velocitor Boots

Recommended Posts

My feet for the most part spend their days in either a pair of Bates GX-8 Composite toe boots for the day job (see my post and images ) or a pair of Blackhawk Warrior Wear Black Ops Boots.

Being on my feet all the time and having a bad back and webbed feet I have become a boot snob. I was pretty excited to see the new Bates Velocitor boot on youtube. As luck would have it Amazon has my size in black available with Prime delivery. Im going to order a pair on payday

BTW Bates is also part of Wolverine which includes Saucony, Patagonia,Hytest and Merrell to name a few.

I'd be interested to hear your reviewwhen you get them,I spend a lot of time on my feet. Used to wear red wings, realized they weren't worth the money after increasing 40$ in three four years. I now wear timberlands which aren't bad. I've been thinking of a "tactical" style boot I'm just not big on high ankle boots.

Thanks for the post. I'd be willing to try them as long as they provide a wide version. I bought a pair of UnderArmour boots 2 years ago and hated them. I need something with a quick lace up eyelid system and that's lightweight. I wear Cockran IIs for work because I have to but am still looking to have a better sole put on over the Vibrams. I have a friend that works at Reebok in their RD section and put sneaker soles on his jungles back in the day. They were awesome.

I would say yes. I'm a 10.5 by the shoe measuring thingy but I always get 11's bases on bad experiences with steel toe shoes. I even purchase 11 in sneakers now and have not looked back.

BTW the Blackhawks I mentioned are also my winter boot as they are pretty warm and water resistant yet my feet dont sweat and freeze. The Bates are cooler though

Blackhawk warrior wear black ops is all I use. I wear them all day, everyday. I prefer them over a pair of sneakers I have (that I never wear).

I was that way too. They changed them a little though. The toes and stitching are slightly different. My most recent pair bought in May/June is not the same as previous pairs and they are not as comfy. I had some odd discomfort on the sides of my feet. I'm hoping I just got a bad pair.

Funny that you say that. My most recent pair, I broke in around February/March. Definitely not the same "feel" as all the pairs before them. Still comfortable, but not quite the same feel. Nice observation Drew.

I burn through a pair in about 12 months.

I'm pretty much the same no matter what boot I wear. I don't care what the manufacture is (I've tried them all). Around 12 months, give or take, is all I expect out of them.

I bought a pair of Merrells and nearly put up a fight before taking them off. They are the most comfortable shoe I've worn for regular/everyday living. I wear them hunting too. They really hold up well.

Dr Martins and Converse "Chuck Taylor" AllStars are still my go-to shoe on most days.

I have a hell of a time finding work boots. They cut out my achilles tendon on my right foot and transfered it to the front to make my foot go up and down so I could walk because of polio. This was radical in 59'.My Doc make the books with this procedure.Which left me with a left 12 and a right 9.My left foot is flat and wide, right has a high arch[abby normal high].With the orthotics I need a wide shoe. It's fukked.I just bought a new pair of Timberlands w/composite toe went to take them off today and found the left boot seperated at the heel from the top in just 3 weeks.WTF.I have a pair of Danner Arcadia that have been with me for 20 yrs, resolded a few times. Those are my motorcycle boots since they are 10' tall.Problem is I can't order on the net got to try them on.Sucks.Left has beared most of the weight for 58 yrs. now,Doc says I need to have surgery to get it together which means having screws put in for 5 mo. sit.Just got back to work so thats on the back burner I'll suck it up in the mean time.Should be last surgery.Nothing worse than ill fitting boots or a bad wheel.I need a waaaaaaambulance. <lmao>

Yikes, brother...sorry to hear about the problems. On a much smaller note, I think I pulled a muscle in my right foot arch over a month ago and it still f*cking kills to just walk. Send the waaahmbulance over my way too.

I was lucky my cosin Mike was also afficted with polio he was wheelchair bound. He died when he was 14.He was 2 yrs. older than I was.Polio is a virus that affects the legs and or the lungs.Doing a job at the Rehab Institue of Chicago I saw a smal iron lung from back in the day. That put things in perspective.Back in the day people were terrified as the cause was not identified. They thought it was public pools and they thought it was contagious [it wasn't].It was scary s h i t .I have always carried my own water.Only a handful of my bros in the local know.I don't want anyone to think I can't do the job.I have proven myself over the years so there is no question. There is the post polio-syndrome where one loses strength in the legs.My calves are also different left leg is a tree trunk, right is a large stick from muscel athrophy.Right leg is getting weaker I don't even tell my wife.I need 4 more winters then I'm done 30 and out.I just keep putting one foot in front of the other and go till I can't go anymore.having had both knees replaced gave me a second chance to walk in my life.I am very grateful for what I have. This pales to alot of others that are in worse shape than me.It's all good. And I am also lucky to have the friends that I have here on this form. ^-^   My only regret is it kept my out of the service as my whole family is Army.

Way to make the best of life Rene people these days would have gave up and just collected the cheese. One of my friends/ a good friends dad had his knee done 2 years ago said it was the smartest thing he'd ever done. Another friends dad (who also had polio as a child) fell and broke his pelvic a few years back after he had healed the dr asked him if his hip bothered him. He said hell yea but figured it was a later effect from having polio. The dr told him he wanted to do a hip replacement and now he walked way better
