Build on a budget

Well after getting my blemished palmetto upper a few months back Ive decided to start a budget, truck gun field gun build.  I stopped by the local gun show today and got a pretty good deal on a palmetto lower and no name lower parts kit with buffer tube, buffer, spring and castle nut, all for 120 plus tax.  So basically now Im at around 180 total into my build and have basically the whole back of the gun minus the stock and BCG.  What parts would you guys recommend for a budget build of this sort.  I would like to have a free float barrel, full length rifle when finished with iron sights.  Im shooting for around 600 finished as a friend of mine seems to think it isn't possible for some reason with the free float hand guard for under 800ish.  As I've said I have the whole rear end jus need:

Rear stock

BCG

free float handguard

barrel and nut

gas tube and gas block

set of sights

Am i missing anything?

BTW this is an AR15

Shibi, they are kind of slow on their shipping these days but you will get it. I got a complete LPK (with MOE grip and buttstock and buffer tube assy.) for $99 a while back and it took a month for them to ship it! I think they sometimes oversell their sales stuff and have to wait until more comes in to fill the orders.

  • 1 month later...

Well my build budget just got blown.  I was looking around on the PSA easter uppers sale and made the move on one.  I was trying to stay around 600 but i now have 850 into it but I must say I can't wait to see the finished product.  This is the upper I bought what y'all think:

Personally I love it and it took a bit of persuasion to convince the wife but now all i need is a new stock to replace the mil spec carbine adjustable and I'm set.
