gnatshooter
Friends, I have a DPMS LR-308T with the standard A2 buttstock. Between the buttstock and the receiver I have a "plate" with a hole drilled in it for my rear sling mounting point. To make up for the thickness of the sling mounting plate I had to add a spacer inside the buttstock that sits at the end of the buffer tube and just under the rear mounting screw -- and it took a slightly longer mounting screw, all of this to make up for the fact that this setup makes the buttstock about 3/8" longer than stock. Which I'm fine with Now that I have sights mounted on the rifle that I like, I find I'm not getting a decent cheek weld, which makes it harder to acquire a good stable sight picture, so I need a cheek riser. All I've been able to find that would give me an adjustable cheek riser is the Star Wars-style adjustable stock from MagPul. As far as you know, is that my only option to get an adjustable cheek riser on this rifle? I'm not feeling the need to adjust length of pull. I'm also concerned that a cheek riser could interfere with the charging handle. If I have to get that pricey MagPul item, I'll have to worry if I can keep the sling mounting plate. I like it. Thanks for your thoughts! Edited February 24, 2014 by gnatshooter
Robocop1051
Just get a strap on cheek riser. They are about $20-$30. http://www.blackhawk.com/product/Rifle-Cheek-Pad,605,1406.htm
gnatshooter
Is it just me, or does it look like the strap-on riser would interfere with the charging handle?
shibiwan
Magpul PRS stock. There. I said it. So go get it then. Edited February 25, 2014 by shibiwan
98Z5V
Another option is to drop the buttplate so it still sits low enough in the pocket of your shoulder. Handle that task via an adjustable buttplate. I went with the one from Sierra Precision, the SPR-1.
survivalshop
There are some self adhesive cheek pads , of different thickness's, you can use , that shouldn't get in the way of the charging handle operation.I have not used them , so can't say how they might help.
