I almost got one of those. But I have a "low profile" dpms upper soI ended up getting a Troy battle rail which basically mounts the same way which I'm not a huge fan of but its a lot more rigid than you would think.  Ive heard lots of good reviews on the midwest stuff though.

Gray Ive got one on one of my 308's and the same type on one of my 6.8's...no problemos so far

its interesting to note that the ar15 type has a locking tab that sticks out to stop rotation, but they cant do it for the 308 size......so, its the same lockup as the trx which I also have....just be sure to take your time torquing down the 2 bolts that clamp it down :) Wash

Aggie, I like Fulton Armory and try to do business with them whenever possible. But, my build will rely on a top rail for optics. Also, 12" is ok, but I'd rather longer.

I appreciate all the feedback guys. Keep it coming. So far, the Midwest SS seems the best weight/features for the money.

Wash, so you've never had rotation problems in spite of lacking the locking tab?

This gun will mainly be for hog hunting so it needs to be relatively rugged.

Thanks Wash. Now I'm leaning toward Apex and Magpul MOE rails. Apex looks to be solid

I just put an APEX 15" on my build.  I really like it.  Right now, they have a 14" on clearance for $197 on their website.  For $60 bucks less than the 15", it is worth consideration.
