Toolndie7
Its sad these these innocent people were killed for no reason at all. I still believe if we had proper medical institutions killing like this would be reduced greatly. What happened to all the mental institutions and nutt houses? All these people are out wandering the street talking to a shrink and taking a little pill, I dont get it. They are out there................ planeflyer21
I used to work with SMIs (Severly Mentally Ill) in both group homes and vocational settings. When doing agency work, that agency took in the worst of the worst, because it paid more. These people were so far whacked that the agency was the last stop on the way to Arizona State Hospital (ASH) or their first and usually last stop on the way back into society. Since the successful campaign to close mental sanitariums in the 1970s, ALL these crazy...and I mean TRULY CRAZY...people live in your cities and towns, maybe even in your own neighborhood. You can get that information off of your state's mental health website, as each group home has to be licensed and inspected, public notice, etc. etc. The crybabies of society need to get over it. Some people need the death penalty, some people need to be locked up for all their life. Some people are phuckin' nuts and completely harmless. Others will sedate you while you are sleeping, so that when you wake up the first thing you see is them feasting on your raw flesh as they trim it from your body. But lock that person up for life and "that's inhumane!"
survivalshop
Our society is producing these murderers . I think those numbers in that article are conservative . Between all the violent movies , games & loss of family values , not to mention what they are being taught now a days in school . Its also the times we are in , high populations & the percentage goes up . Now what you do about it , well that's a difficult question. I sometimes feel that some of these incidents , are just too convenient . I've asked this before , doesn't it seem like there are more of these type mass murders , since Berry took over . planeflyer21
The percentages of those who can't over ride the want to murder/hurt/maim are very small. A much easier solution is to train everyone else to neutralize such threatened stupidity, rapidly and with extreme prejudice.

A much easier solution is to train everyone else to neutralize such threatened stupidity, rapidly and with extreme prejudice. The gun-grabbers would say that this advocates capital punishment for mental illness, without a judge or jury. Some people cannot be reasoned with. Speaking of punishment for mental illness, I have to wonder how many people who, in the past, would be in mental institutions are in prisons instead. It could possibly be quite a few of them, especially since the US has a greater percentage of its population in prison than any other country. Perhaps quite a few mentally ill are now going to one institution, rather than another. I've read several times in news articles of sheriffs complaining that one of the biggest unmet needs of jails is mental health care because so many inmates are clearly insane. planeflyer21
Some people cannot be reasoned with. That's the truth! ...especially since the US has a greater percentage of its population in prison than any other country. Both percentage of the population and sheer numbers of people in prison. The Land of The Free has more people in jail/prison than "evil" communist China, who has four times the population. I have heard it argued that "We have better police and a more effective justice system." Or we just have a system where they can incarcerate a person for a multitude of reasons, from too many tickets to growing a garden where a lawn should be planted. I've read several times in news articles of sheriffs complaining that one of the biggest unmet needs of jails is mental health care because so many inmates are clearly insane. Having worked in the mental health system both prior to and after corrections, I'd say that is partially correct. Didn't see anybody in prison who served in Hitler's Brown Shirts or ripped flesh off their upper arm with one fell swoop.

gnatshooter
<laughs> <laughs> Which brings me to my next point...had the kid not learn to art of self pleasure......or how to hang around a bar at 1:53 a.m? This brings me to the truly saddest thing I have ever seen in my life. At the university, all the local bars lined a nearby street -- not far from campus, or the dorms with their many beds. Of all the bars on the street, this one bar had a "permanent malfunction" with its clock and was always the last to close and let out the customers. Who were of course quite wasted, having been closed out of all the other bars there. And the bar did another thing -- in violation of State law, but they got away with it. They would sell a complete six-pack of beer to a customer for take-out. Okay, that's the background. Now back in the day, when I frequented this block quite a bit, there was this female person. Can I say this politely? No, I cannot. She was, quite simply and very obviously, ugly. She was of the same age as the students in the bars, as far as I could tell. And on this hot evening of a night in spring, at the closing of the last bar on the street to close, and surrounded by the drunkest losers of the horniest remaining males, she stood by the door of the bar when it finally closed. Waving a six-pack of beer, making it obvious that she could provide some more fun after closing time. Every one of the drunkest losers of the horniest remaining males walked past her, as though she wasn't there. Finally, she walked home with her beer, alone. As far as I know, she did not have a gun. Or at least, didn't use it on anyone. Edit: "God has a very big heart, but there is one sin He will not forgive. gnatshooter
^^^ LOL she must have looked like a female version of Quasimodo! <laughs> Actually, she was slender, and perhaps a bit taller than most women. Her breasts, though not outstanding, were enough to gain the attention of even the blindest drunk. But she was, as my dad would have said in WWII Marine-speak, "hatchet-faced'. He never explained the saying to me, but looking at her was like taking repeated blows to your face with a hatchet. Or maybe, like someone had taken a hatchet to her face, but I could see no trace of wounds or scars. Her face was simply so malformed that even the drunkest cretin who had recently been released from the men's penitentiary for multiple rape would have passed her by. There is a saying, "a face only a mother could love", and, well, that really didn't apply either. Which might well help explain waving a six-pack at 2:28 am outside the drunkest bar within reach of radar.
Microgunner
About a hundred years ago I worked as a bouncer in a strip club. The ugliest women I'd ever seen would come in unescorted near closing time. They always left with some warmed up drunk guy as regular as clockwork. sketch
My next project at work is to make an assault proof desk in the entry of the local mental boarding office! The reason for this I was told is that my area is getting shipped more violent mental patients from bigger city's. In the 8 years I've been doing there bigger remodels the last two have been armed due to a shooting, a stabbing, and shooting at cops in persuit. As a contractor I'm not around them all the time and know lots by name but a few scare the shyt out of me. They have one bording home out of town 60+ residents and intown maybe 200-300 (free range) out patients that roam the he city. They're out there. ;) They have a oblivious look to them and are always scouring the ashtrays.
gnatshooter
They have a oblivious look to them and are always scouring the ashtrays. 'Scouring ashtrays' -- is that grabbing cigarette butts? Since WWII that's been known as one of the most effective routes for spreading tuberculosis. And now that we have drug-resistant TB, people doing that could make them the worst disease vectors we've seen in modern history. In the early 1900s, the Spanish flu killed an estimated 50 million to 100 million people around the world. Drug-resistant TB could easily kill that many, or many more than that. gnatshooter
White guy killer syndrome: Elliot Rodger’s deadly, privileged rage - Salon - May 27, 2014http://www.salon.com/2014/05/27/white_guy_killer_syndrome_elliot_rodgers_deadly_privileged_rage/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=socialflow [excerpts] Black men are not rolling onto college campuses and into movie theaters on a regular basis to shoot large numbers of people. Usually, the young men who do that are white, male, heterosexual and middle-class. This sense of heterosexual white male entitlement to a world that grants all one’s wishes, and this destructive murderous anger that attends the ostensible denial of these wishes, is at the emotional core of white supremacy. But because we don’t have a fundamentally honest societal conversation happening about white male privilege, rooted as it is in sexism and racism, we can’t even observe one of the most basic truths here: What Rodger perceived as a denial was at the very worst a delay. Our society is fundamentally premised on making sure that straight, middle-class (upper class in Rodger’s case) white men have access to power, money and women.
