shepp
I've got a "bugout box" I wanna turn it into a bag. This was emailed to me yesterday http://nationalparksdepot.us/products/outdoor-military-style-tactical-backpack What do you all think? Any recommendations? Thought the price was right. Thanks! edgecrusher
Might work as a scout pack, or a one day pack, but I don't think it's big enough for a full on bug out bag. Good price, if it can hold up to some light abuse. This is on my short list of things to acquire as my bug out bag... http://www.eberlestock.com/G4%20Operator.htm It's pricey but proven, and big! shepp
I was thinking it was a touch small, I've already got a day pack or 3. They've also got this one http://nationalparksdepot.us/products/outdoor-tactical-backpack-military-large Edge that bags bad ass!!! BLKSHEEP
If anyone's interested I sell surplus "used" USMC Rucksacks. They're not new and shiny but they make one hell of a bug out bag! Edited July 2, 2014 by BLKSHEEP
TheRenegadeMarine
If anyone's interested I sell surplus "used" USMC Rucksacks. They're not new and shiny but they make one hell of a bug out bag! That is actually what I run since it was the EXACT thing I was issued while active duty. I also have the assault pack that I picked up for a decent price. Those things (ruck and assault pack) are rugged as all heck.
survivalshop
I'm more in the mind set of a more medium bag & leave the kitchen sink at home . Us older people really can't & don't want to carrie a bag that weighs almost as much as us . <laughs>
shepp
Ok so on to the next step and I know there are a million blogs about this, but what to put in my bug out bag.

Ammo, food, survival gear, your favourite porn mag? <laughs> I try not to weigh myself down with too much. All I got is a small bail-out bag with ammo/magazines in it. survivalshop
Everything , but the kitchen sink ! I think beyond the normal stuff ( first aid kit or more , food/water , ammo ), it would be up to the individual . Some may make more room for ammo ( me ) & some may use more room for food & water . Its up to the individual .

gnatshooter
Remember the rule of KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid. But at the same time, be prepared for anything. Dang hard to do. Flame me, but as far as I know the only people who can successfully 'bug out' are Africans in Africa. The huts are mud. They have no tools. They might have some seeds for crops. Some sharpened sticks.
Rsquared
As others have said. Bare essentials. Food, water, ammo, (not exactly in that order mind you) and first aid come first. After that......everything is superfluous (though socks are always nice <laughs>).
planeflyer21
First aid, water, water filter, ammo, firearms.

If shit goes bad, gold won't be worth a thing. Food, water, ammo, mags, survival gear. Three to five days at most. You can't wander forever. Unless you have to, but that's a different and worse scenario.
Rsquared
I agree. Past a couple days, you move into a full blown apocalypse type of scenario. But, at that point, that's where those of us that are armed....will prey upon the sheep. Until their resources are used up....or until we're out of ammo. Then.....we get more basic and simpler. Not to get too dark or anything.

Rsquared
No worry about the 338 my man. I've still got more. But the thought is appreciated. Now the old man's car. That sumbitch would be AWESOME to see. Wish that we had time back in May. DAMMIT! Hmmm.....2008 hours here right now. If I start driving...................I can be there by 0408 hours (or so). I may have to use Rob's couch when I get there. <lmao>
edgecrusher
Did you get you'r dad to come over to the darkside and start on a rifle? He is a cool dude. He grabbed a stripped upper and bcg, but stalled out when he bought new springs and shocks for the rear end of the racecar.
