shepp Posted August 14, 2014 Report Posted August 14, 2014 Is it true that that gun errrr cannon slows the plane when firing?
edgecrusher Posted August 14, 2014 Report Posted August 14, 2014 The afb in town was a10's up until they closed Otis air force base on the cape, then we got the f15's. Not sure where all our hogs went . We are the 104th
survivalshop Posted August 14, 2014 Report Posted August 14, 2014 Oh but you do tho lol Yes , but I have a lot of help spreading the cost around . <thumbsup>
warthog984 Posted August 14, 2014 Report Posted August 14, 2014 @shepp.....there was one design flaw on this beast. Look at your picture on the prior page. All the gun gas goes into the motors. After so many rounds are fired, the engines start to lack full power. Crew Chiefs would perform engine water washes to clean the compressor and fan blades. @edgecrusher....I was TDY at Barnes in Massachusetts when I was sent TDY from Germany to Vegas. Our Squadron did a pit stop there. I believe that was the 104th. I know they had A10s there in the middle 90's.
edgecrusher Posted August 14, 2014 Report Posted August 14, 2014 Lived here all my life, we've had them up until very recently.
blue109 Posted August 14, 2014 Report Posted August 14, 2014 hardly a day goes by I don't see those beautiful pigs dancing around base. my drive home from work takes me directly under the landing approach. sometimes I try to time it just right so that they come out of the bank and drop right toward my car, and try to imagine how scary it would be to be a bad guy.
NTXshooter Posted August 14, 2014 Report Posted August 14, 2014 That 6560 grain 30mm bullet makes a .308 seem like a BB.
