Open it up and put a buffer of appropriate weight in the gun A lot of companies have tried to shrink the gas ports to compensate for running a slightly lighter and “less expensive to produce” buffer and it’s caused many a rifle to function poorly. Fixing a problem that didn’t exist. Sure, the 10 pound rifle is now 1.6 ounces lighter, but they’re trying to reduce gas and play with springs to adjust the physics of firing the rifle. I’ll take the extra ounce and a half to have a gun that eats anything. Don’t know what the right bit is for you to go with, but get a wood dowel to insert in the barrel as a backer.

Not so. Armalite and DPMS are different threads. The upper receiver dictates the nut you need, but it also has to work with the guards, so you need a guard that comes with a nut specific to your receiver. And then make sure you have the right height profile for the rail. Ever wonder why so many things get screwed up by manufacturers labeling anything “308” as an AR10? Guys might seem like they’re being A-holes on here when they jump on that...but believe me there’s a reason for trying to educate the masses. Wish the companies would listen. It would save folks a lot of headache and heartburn.

Too big can be fixed with an adjustable gas block. Can’t go bigger than the inside of the gas tube or you’re just wasting open hole. You can almost guarantee it could go up a bit. Start small if you want after the new parts come in and work up to a comfortable level. Keep in mind some breakin will need to happen before things settle out, but build a gun that eats various ammo. Unless you’re building a competition gun around one specific reload...the basic numbers you see thrown out regularly in the other threads seem to work well.

That is looking really good. Makes me want to start a build, but after shopping for tile and appliances with my wife this weekend, my next build is several years out.

Don’t plan to be there. Just casually show up. Everything you plan, things go south for someone. Be spontaneous and get the ticket last minute.

One of my old co-workers had his wife respond to a fake email from her bank. Clicked the link and typed in all their info. It started pinging the account for 2k every minute until the bank shut it down. Hard to believe people fall for that crap. She was a college grad “engineer”. Wouldn’t have expected her to be a dumbass, but apparently people fall for that crap.
