  1. Did I ever tell you guy's about my load data ? Nice job !
  2. How bad did you screw up the Receiver , by the drilling method ? I don't think those Detents are made of Brass, Anodized Brass color , maybe . The oiling hole on the side can be used ,as said , to use air pressure to force it out , depending on several factors . The Detent can only go so far in the passage , the spring is long & fully compressed will limit it. You could use something like a Torch tip cleaner to hone the part of the passage you can get it in , the cleaning tool has a wide range of sizes to get a size that will fit , but still clean any Burr's that may be holding the Detent or Spring . Then use oil in the oiling hole & air pressure to see if it will move . I check all new Receivers to make sure passages are clear of debris or burr's from machining process .
  3. These type of aircraft can be used because the opponents don't have an any air power & very little hand held surface to air threats . They do work well in this situation , you don't need a Million dollar pilot, to train to use them .
  4. Ya , you made me look it up .
  5. Consider your self lucky , there are lots of people that like them that tight . They may loosen up with break in rounds , might take a couple hundred rounds , but they will loosen a little when the Upper & lower seat from recoil or because of the finish being worn off from using the Pin (s ) Make sure they are clean & well oiled & check for Burr's .
  6. I 'm using Strike Industries covers . no pins or clip , just have to orientate the spring & pop it on .
  7. I have an early CMMG see. # 0026# , so its with in the first 300 they made ( before they made complete rifles ), nicely done Lower , but it would not function reliably with the first gen. LR PMags . Would work flawlessly with any Metal mag. , but not the PMag . I don't blame CMMG or Magpul , the Lower was made many years before LR PMag came out & the LR PMag's work in my other 308AR's . Since Magpul came out with the Gen. 3 Pmag , they have the Mag Catch set lower in the mag , which makes the mag sit a few thousands higher in the mag well & they work fine in this lower now , the 25 rounder works also ( its also a Gen. 3 )& the Lancer Mags work great also , so thanks to Magpul changing their mag , I have no issues with this lower any more . Just shot yesterday with no issues . I actually like this Lower , but still believe a builder should use same manufacturers Upper & Lower combo .Tolerance stacking can be an issue when mixing Receivers. I have a thread on the issues with this lower , some where . I'm using a Gen. II SI Defense Billet Upper & fitment was not the greatest , so I shimmed the Pivot point & bedded the rear Lug , Rifle shoots great mated with a Criterion 18" bbl.
  8. Plot , its a Zombie movie . ?
  9. Now your going to make me look at my brass year , didn't know LC in any year could be bad . I have a lot of it & I think I have one case that has the rings for viewing . This is the second sizing or loading of this brass . I'll look at the year . Not even sure this is once fired MG brass , because I have been using a lot of LC M80 ammo for testing a rifle with a FTE completely, issue .
  10. Went to the Range today with the 18" 308AR & the new D.Wilson BCG , but with a DPMS Extractor & went through around 80 rounds in 10 shot strings , as fast as I could get a shot off when the cross hairs settled on the aiming point . Used both the Lancer & Gen. 3 Pmag's ,( note , this is the CMMG Lower Receiver that will not function with the first gen. Mags ) no malfunctions at all , ran both 155 gr. Nosler Match & 155 gr. Hornady Amax bullets , same Powder charge , primer & COL were used . This is the second bolt from him that has worked in this rifle with the DPMS Extractor. I contacted D.Wilson about this , this is a Tolerance stacking issue with a few rifle/Barrel combo's , not an over all problem , he makes a very good product & I need two AR 15 BCG 's soon & will not hesitate getting them from him .
  11. I sent you a PM. I'm also going to post in the D.Wilson Bolt Thread .
  12. No doubt this is a possibility & does happen , but I've used nothing but used Military brass for everything from Belt feds to bolt actions , with a SB Die & have never had an issue with it , of course close inspection of any fired brass is mandatory . I have seen split case necks , but that was before I started Annealing the brass .
  13. Photo's ?
  14. Shouldn't take too long , that thing is quick .
  15. Do you have another Bolt or BCG ? Not the same manufacturer ?
  16. They should sell DVD's of the Movie at some point , one would hope .
  17. Oh , another Zombie movie , looks funny though. I don't go to the Germ farms , I'll buy it when its available .
  18. I have a 20"HB ,a lighter wt. 18" & a 16" HB , I can say if your not looking for a one hole grouping rifle , you don't need any more than a 16" . My 20" HB will out shoot the other two , but not by much , the 20"weighs a bunch & not something I would take hunting ( unless it was for long range type of hunting ) . The 18" isn't bad with the lighter Barrel , but the 16" is a little faster swinging platform & both would be great for Hunting IMO . All my Barrels are made by Criterion & all shoot better then I ever will . From others experiences , the Areo's are a good choice & its good to keep the same Manufacturers for the Receivers set. Mega is another good one & have a rear section where the Receivers meet is like an AR 10 , with a slanted fitment . Keep the questions coming , there is a lot of builders here that have been through the ups & downs of particular Manufacturers components , not to mention over coming fitment & tolerance stacking because of no std spec's for the 308AR's.
  19. Have you checked your sized cases with a case length gage ? Are you Crimping the Cartridge ? You may have a tight Chamber , but if Factory ammo is not showing the same issue , its something in your reloading process. Cartridge over all length ( COL ) could cause issues . Fouled Bolt/ Chamber / Barrel Extension area , you would be surprised at what a small piece of brass can lock it up .
  20. That is a nice Trimmer , but as said above , I too couldn't see past price . I have a LE Wilson Trimmer & its pretty fast for a hand cranker .
  21. Yep , O'Butthead maybe !
  22. Nice . I don't even buy lower parts sets with std FCG's in them , I get individual components & good FCG's , the ALG FCG is 100 times better then std. ones & the MechArmor type is 100 times better then it . There seems to be a few FCG's like the ALG line coming out .Not bad Triggers in them , I had a Spikes Tactical Enhanced FCG , NIB coated that was a nice 5.5# trigger . Still I can say enough about my Geissele 's .
  23. According to your photo of where the Gas tube protrudes into the Upper receiver , you have the correct orientation . I will say this again , if you plan is to use those hand guards , you will need to fit them to your rifle. If you are reluctant to do so , get a proper Free Float Hand Guard . I posted those Gas Tube lengths to show the difference between AR 10 & DPMS/AR 15 , your Gas tube or the Gas blocks relationship or distance between the Barrel Nut is correct for that Barrel /Nut/Upper Receiver . You can not adj. the Gas Block to suit your Hand Guard configuration , you will just cut off or restrict your gas signal to the BCG .. Most Barrels Made today the Barrel's Gas Block stop flange is cut to use a Gas Block for a FF Hand Guard & not for A2 Types . If you get a Barrel with an A2 Sight pinned on it , it may have the correct orientation for the use of the A2 type Hand Guards . That's not written in stone because of no Common spec's for the 308 AR & manufacturers do what ever suits their needs , even if its proprietary . Good luck on your endeavor .
