  1. That's considered a Pistol , correct ? Now by making it folding , are you making it a stock , because it can be folded ? If the BATFE concludes it being a stock , then you have an unregistered short barreled rifle & that ,will get you in trouble . I would not want to be the ginny pig on that one .
  2. <thumbsup> All I got to say is , it takes a great deal of work to screw up groups with a lead sled , I can see it happening though . :hail: <laughs>
  3. There could be several things to make it hang up . -Remove the hammer from the lower receiver & see how the BCG works with it completely removed .Some times the hammer will hit the Disconnector in the trigger & will leave a mark , not letting the BCG pass. - the alignment of the upper & lower receivers, remove the Buffer , spring & the receiver extension & Buffer stop & BCG & you will be able to see in there, if there is any alignment problems. Are the Disassembly & Pivot pins hard to insert into the Upper receiver ? And yes , Photo's .
  4. <lmao> That's great !
  5. Entertainment industry loves Drama & they make sure every show has it , in one form or another & probably non of its real . So who has or had the Manufacturing FFL ? I thought that show was beyond stupid !
  6. 90's ?, Olympic Arms was the only company that sold AR build parts in the late 70's . I have one I built in the late 70's with there parts & there ,S/S ,NM 24" HB , 1-10 twist barrel . Still shooting great , the only thing I didn't use of there's was the BCG , they only sold AR 15 BC 's & I use only M16 BCG's . Back then you couldn't get M16 BC's unless you were a Class Three Dealer . This rifle had the original A2 upper receiver & A2 front sight up until last year when I put a TM flat top on her & a Burris TAC 30 3x9x40 scope & rifle shoots 2" groups @ 200 yards . I can not even say how many rounds have been shot out of that barrel. This rifle also has the first FF hand guard on it from back in the late 70's . They were ahead of the game as far as parts for building AR's .
  7. Are they miss matched manufacturers upper & lower receivers ? Any time you use miss matched uppers & lowers , you can run into this , really does matter who's parts you use. After tightening up my friends CMMG 's Barrel Nut , she has been working like a swiss clock , but that is a later model CMMG factory rifle . I would not recommend modifying the Buffer retainer hole , the above recommended fixes work with out any modification to the rifle . Here's a thread about Iron Ridge rifle doing the same thing , these receivers are out of spec's with each other with the same results as your miss matched receivers.
  8. See !
  9. Yes , I agree . That's a strange one .
  10. Well , ya never know around here . <thumbsup>
  11. Can you buy me one , it would be the only way I could afford one . <laughs>
  12. This barrel is new & not broken in or seasoned yet . I can not see it being fouled in any way , it was cleaned using a snake type cleaning mop , which should have gotten out any machining particles or oils from making the lands & groves. What type of brush you use at this point is immaterial . I mostly use Phosphorus bronze bore brushes , but use the new type nylon ones with out a problem. The snake type of cleaning swab , IMO , can put more dirt & carbon fouling or even scratch a barrel , if not cleaned after each use .From what I have seen of the ones people use , they have never been cleaned. I don't recommend them or use them . I use a clean patch every time & there is no way to re-contaminat the inside of the barrel cleaning that way. If inconsistent grouping with same ammo persists , send the upper back for inspection .
  13. I would believe in what SH & the possibility of your unfamiliarity of the system , but explain the Lead Sled shots , you have no input but pulling the trigger !
  14. I can't keep up with whats going on in this thread . What did you cut off the Charging handle for it to fit ? AR 15 pins in a 308 ? Bolt stop with spring pin ? Geezzz
  15. I was expecting something else from this thread . <dontknow>
  16. You can spread the cost around , by assembling one your self . Takes time to assemble the right parts anyway. Do not skimp on the barrel or matched set of receivers , There are some real good sets out there now a days . You can shoot pretty good with parts kit FCG & then upgrade later. You would be surprised at how much a good FCG can make you look like a good shot. <thumbsup> Magpul or equivalent stock sets , I think the moe line is inexpensive , along with others. For the money , a Factory built rifle will cost you less than building one & give you a warranty , if thats the kind of thing that keeps you awake at night . The thing about building one is , you get it your way !
  17. I found the Article , but was wrong on some of it ( age , I tell ya & that's my story & I'm sticking to it ) . I will post the quote from it when I get a chance to type it down word for word & it was taking about the tapered pins as being a problem , not set screw types .
  18. The first layer of defense should be the building , a secure building & it doors , windows will make a shooter to be funneled to a specific entrance point , which should be maned by an armed , trained security . I suppose it could be maned by rotating teachers , but would not be my first choice. You have to understand , these are children , that are doing the shooting & I don't care how many games they play on a PC screen, they are not trained in assaults on secured buildings . They may plan , but not the same as a trained professional . The whole idea of the added building security is deterrence , if people & students see the extra security in the building & armed guards , it will not seem like a soft target , same with Colleges , each building is an island of security. If you are thinking about what would happen in case of a fire , well I have worked with fire control systems & they can lock & unlock doors with great efficiency & that includes security type doors. All this above can be done relatively quickly & cost would not be restrictive , of course you would have to have Administrators that would want to do something about it. Now here is a real good one for you that don't really understand what we are up against, There is a first grade ( !st. grade ,no less ) questionnaire for each student to take , I guess to there parents & one question on it is " How Many GUNs are in your house " WTF . I'm waiting for a copy of it to share .
  19. Here's what it looks like under that raised rib , if you didn't already know , GC on the right & I think its a National match to the left.
  20. You need to read my posts over again . Or seem to read them wrong ( not the first time for you ) , now where did I even say anything like that . Do you just think I want to disarm the citizenry & am a closet gun banner WTF . I guess I have to spell it out to all who wants to listen, I have not in my life met a teacher that I would trust to protect my children , with or with out a gun , most are pacifists & are pencil pushers , at most. I have no problem arming anyone , but if they are supposedly protecting my children , I want them trained properly & keep it up , regularly ( which will probably go to the way side because of inactivity of any danger ). They should not be the first line of defense , but part of a layered defense if & I mean if , they are needed & it would be the last line of the defense . They are teachers & thats what they are , not trained security. I'm not saying there are not some that can fit the bill , just not any I have met in my life time & that includes the College professors or what ever they call them selfs . There is far more to using deadly force in a class room then out on the street & I want personal doing it that have a handle on the concept , not a last ditch effort , with all the strings attached to a teacher with permission to conceal a firearm. I have been fighting the good fight for more years than most here on this sight ( I'll be most of you were in school when I was a class three FFL dealer )& you have never read anything I posted that said anything like your comment .
  21. Its the bullets hitting the airplanes that will give him away . <laughs>
  22. These are AR 15 Receivers . All the Tactical Machining Uppers I have, have the " square " marking , The Tactical Machining 300 BLK , lower has the " Key " marking on it , The POF NIB upper has no markings ,but POF USA on it , The two Olympic Arms A2 uppers , one is from the late seventy's , it has no markings , the one from the early eighties has the " EK " by the rear sight, The Olympic arms, pre ban Lower has no markings I can see. I took more photos , I have to break out the two Tactical Machining Lowers I just picked up there a month or so ago & see what markings they have .
  23. I would get a higher round count & let the barrel season up a bit , then clean it with out using a copper solvent & then do your testing again. Barrel nut could be loose , always a possibility , no matter who put it together.
  24. That being said <laughs> , my wife can drive it also & can pull much more in a trailer if you want , so two birds with one stone . The thing about it is , you don't have to put your feet down & you have reverse , even if its just the starter making it happen . And its a new bike , win ,win & win ! Rob , I can see you chasing Cages down the highway with one , whata ya think ? <lmao>
  25. I see your point , but why let it get to a point that a Teacher has to use deadly force . Its also for show to have armed guards out in the open , on display & on the front line, so to speak. Before the the building can be breached . A better deterrent than , a teacher , that may or may not have combat or LE training or may or may not be where the breach has occurred . I don't put a target shooter in those categories , unless, they to have prior training .
