  1. I'm old with fat fingers , I guess & that doesn't help . No , your not getting it back . <thumbsup>
  2. Which is pretty hefty in its self . Weight wise . You can shave about a pound going to a light Wt. 16 " Barrel . Isn't there a Thread some where here on building a light weight 308AR ?
  3. If the Muzzle device was Loctited on , it may take more than the 175# to get it off & if as I said , barrel not in a vice block , you could damage or tweak or break, the upper receiver also . Now if heat was used to soften the Loctite , it should come of with out much trouble . Might also be defective threading on Barrel/extension , that let it loosen up , hard to tell on a PC . <dontknow> It happens more than people will admit & since he also said , his Smith had a hard time getting the Muzzle device off , makes one wonder , how it was removed . Still , talk to DPMS , they will not try to repair that barrel/extension , they will replace it . Loosening during firing , sounds like a thread problem & I would not shoot it again until issue is resolved .
  4. Got mine today , I had to look for the imperfection you said was on it . Good job , I put it on my 16" 308 will get some photos later . Ya know , no matter how many times I put a sling through those buckles , you seem to never have enough strap to loop it under the top one. <laughs>
  5. If its a factory rifle with all the OEM parts on it , the way it came , DPMS should replace the barrel. When changing the gas block , was a Muzzle device removed to replace the gas block & if so , how was it removed ? If the barrel was not supported & locked down with Vice Blocks & that's not an upper receiver block , chances are if you had a tight Muzzle device , the barrel can be unscrewed from the Barrel extension. Put it back to original configuration if you can & talk to DPMS. The fact that its coming loose during firing is DANGEROUS & they should help you right away .
  6. This is just an example of a small HD motor. I know yours is bigger than mine , this could go on & on on who's the fastest , but riding ,for most, doesn't come down to how fast. This can go tit for tat all day long . I have a 48 Harley , I win, in length of duty <laughs>
  7. 16 " barrel will show less pressure signs , I loaded 43.5 of 4064 in LC cases & 168 SMK's & shot them in both my 16" & 20 " bbl's. with no high pressure signs . Not all chambers & barrels will perform the same way with different loadings . Also the gas system type may have a little to do with where you can go . 16"HB., 43.5 gr. IMR 4064 , rifle length gas system Avg. Vel. -- 2567 fps ES--------- 48 fps SD -------- 18 fps 20" HB, 43.5 gr. IMR 4064 , rifle length gas system Avg. Vel. -- 2707 fps ES --------- 39 fps SD --------- 16 fps
  8. If its a stock AR 10 rifle , just talk to Armilite & may have to send it back. Rifle should function with 168 match ammo . If its been altered , what was changed ? OEM Rifle ? Did this just start or has it happened since day one. What other ammo , if any , were also tested in this rifle & what were the results.
  9. He used one & it fixed it ?
  10. Some endorsement money ?
  11. AR 10 . Waiting for the "official "Armilite enabler here to say for sure . <thumbsup>
  12. That barrel has to go for loss of weight. not sure what barrel you have ,but I believe its a target barrel & is going to be most of the weight . As said above , your scope ,if you have one on there , could be a on the heavy side , depending which one you have. If it was me , I would look at stocks, barrels & scopes you would like on there & compare the individual weights , just to see if or where you can shave some weight off. You could also check on the JP light weight BCG, but then you would have to add to the budget for tune up components ( Adj. gas block, buffer /spring, etc. ) You could also sell this rifle & purchase a lighter one , that will give you a new budget , whats the new DPMS II weigh ?
  13. Strong looking receiver set , AR 10 type also , that should make some happy here ( or not ) <dontknow>
  14. Ya advertise you don't have them & this is what you get . http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2014/05/22/Restaurant-With-No-Weapons-No-Concealed-Firearms-Sign-Robbed-At-Gunpoint
  15. <laughs>
  16. I'm sure the ATF read them also , premium vendor or not ,they can expect a knock on the door. C:-)
  17. I sleep with my Panheads , so its not a problem . <thumbsup>
  18. Why is it when you mention Harley's, some one always asks if you want to race & says how fast his bike or that bike is ? They can't say they have the most popular brand out there or that chicks just dig them , noooo , they got to say how fast they are , well women don't like it fast , they want slow & comfortable . <lmao> Besides , when was the last time you saw one of these hot rod bikes that's 60+ years old ? All that speed don't last , you have to grow up some time <laughs>
  19. I like the idea , now they need to make it for 308's. I don't need any , but I would buy one if I needed one .
  20. Just curious , did you have any fired brass that had the extractor lips deformed or ripped off by the extractor ?
  21. I used to think that a single stage was it , till I got my first Geissele SSA. I think its what your intended end use will be . I have a Spikes Tactical enhanced in one of my AR 15 carbines & one of Geissele's wife's triggers , can't remember the name, in my 24" AR 15 , but both are very nice single stages & both are about 5# triggers.
  22. You can manipulate the feed lips on the DPMS steel mags & some times get them to function correctly . They are known to have problems ,call DPMS & send it back to DPMS & they should replace it.
  23. DPMS mags are made to load 19 rds.. ,just the way they made them . No idea why , some say they can fit & shoot 20 , but I have not been able to do that with any of mine, the mag. with 20 rds. in it will compress the spring & not leave any room for it to lock in place ,because of too much tension on the ammo . It may lock into place with the bolt locked back , but will probably FTF that first rd. . That's why I have the 25 rd. PMags now , if I want more than 19 . <thumbsup>
