Never used that brand in my 1100 ,but if your 1100 is in good shape , should shoot it with out a problem. Have you ever replaced the gas seal ? That o-ring gets brittle & can get hard & not seal properly . I have seen the seal missing completely.

Remember , he brought up the Armilite trigger also !

308 Charging Handle
survivalshop replied to justinlee83's topic in DPMS Panther Arms LR-308 | Bushmaster 308
I also have a bunch of them & need another one for my 16" 308 . I might have to buy one of the Raptors , just to see how it compares the the MechArmor charging handle , which works surprising well on all my AR's. TacOps-1 made my charging handle workable with the large scopes I have on them. -
The angle of that photo doesn't show the complete release. The lower receiver may be altered for fitment.

The basic answer is , yes. We have a hard time keeping up with the DPMS designed 308 AR's & there rail heights . A piston system ? Do you have one in mind , that's available for a 308 based AR ? The difference in the 308 based AR's is there is not much mil spec, like the AR 15 based rifles , where fitment from part to part is not a problem , too many variables & Proprietary parts from most manufacturers of the 308 based rifles. It can be done with the right parts ,but care must be taken in choosing components .

Its nice to have an inexpensive part fail , as long as it not when your life depends on it .

Never had a blown out gas tube . Did the sealed end fail ?

With some powders , a magnum primer will give more complete ignition . Just start out a little lower in charge weight , as was said . Mag. primers are meant for large capacity magnum cartridge cases . Use them with care & check for pressure issues when using them with smaller capacity cartridge cases.

I still like the looks of the original BAR . I almost bought one when I was a class III , bought a FNHB select fire rifle instead .

IWB , I carrie in the small of my back with my PM 45 & up front with the M&P Shield . I find both uncomfortable when driving & remove them when driving . There is not much out there for weapon mounted light holsters . Some yes, most no & the ones I have seen are for specific light manufacturers or the holster manufactures own light system .

Life time warranty on an AK , they don't need one unless some one has altered the basic design. <dontknow> You really can't go wrong with any 308AR , they all work just fine. The only thing that I would stay away from is something with a new design. I think your problem is like a kid in a candy store , too many choices . You & only you can choose a rifle for your needs , because you know what you want more then we do . Brand really means nothing except a name , they pretty much all stand behind there products . Sure mass produced firearms do & will have a problem here or there ,but if you look at the problems that are solved on this forum , there not such a big deal , mostly minor things & if a manufacturer makes more firearms than another , it just ups a chance of having an issue to be resolved . If your not building a rifle , your choices are what ever the manufacturer has in there line up . If you want a custom build , prepare to wait for it . If I was to buy a factory AR rifle ( I never have ) it would be an Armilite AR 10, great all around rifle & has good resale value if it doesn't cover your needs . ( an unlikely event ) Not that I have anything against any other manufacturer , except $$ . I have two DPMS 308 AR builds , being, both have DPMS lower receivers as a base . They work just fine .

Anyone want a 260 Remington and/or 338 Fed LAR 8 Upper?
survivalshop replied to 600hpSBC's topic in Rock River Arms LAR-8
This post should be in the " FOR SALE "section . -
Great minds think alike ! <thumbsup> I used to do mag dumps , from a rest or bipod, but with reloading components being scarce since the "lier" took office , I have not done much of it. The rifles will take it .

If you can destroy an M2 & 240 on the same day , I'm not sure they make a firearm worthy of your abilities . <laughs> Seriously though , I wouldn't use any of the steel cased ammo in any of my rifles ,but my AK. If you are looking for reliability from an AR308 , I personally would stay away from that crap ammo . There will be not much difference in functionality between the big $$$ rifles & an AR 10 , you really can't go wrong there . The big money rifles have some goodies & a name & the Larue's have some sniper rifles in use & have won some sniper competitions with them , if I remember correctly , so they will do the dirty work & LMT 's are great rifles ,but so are DPMS rifles, they make more of them than any other manufacturer. Tough choices for sure , it comes down to how much you want to spend & what you want to do with it .

The groups here show me a couple of things , I shot much better than this with 168 SMK 's , out of the 20" bbl. before . This is the first time @ 200 yards with the 16" bbl.. It seems I may be doing some more load development, I think I want to get some more velocity & will make various loadings at higher velocities just to see how they do @ 200. These loads I used were the best in ES & SD , that may or may not be what is needed to get this bullet out further. I guess this is why we test this stuff . I also wonder how the 168 match bullets would have matched up to these groups , I didn't have any with me , something that won't happen again. . I know one thing that made the last groups to open up a hair , is the sweat rolling into my eye's & my glass's fogging up , did not help . I also didn't dial the 16 " bbl. to center the groups, because I am not sure if this loading is the final set up . I want to play around some more at 200 yards. I also picked up some IMR 4895 , which Nolser reloading data reads 39.5 gr.'s is the one they found most accurate .
-
I was at a gun range yesterday with a friend that was a member & they also had quite a bit of powder . I picked up some IMR 4064 , it was a pleasant surprise , since I probably shot close to a pound yesterday. <thumbsup>

Shot both rifles @ 200 yards today with the 175 gr. Nosler Match bullets with 39.5 gr. of IMR 4064 in the 20" & 40.0 gr. IMR 4064 in the 16" . Both rifles shot the same , both about the same groupings . I will take a photo of the target that I used for the fist shot stings after dialing both scopes in & also the last shot string , just to see if there was a difference between a some what cool barrel & a completely warm barrel after shooting in 85 deg. for a while . Groups could have ben better & I blame me & not rife/ammo , I have shot better at 200 with 168 gr. SMK bullets . I also shot my Heart Doctors CMMG 308 with an 18" barrel ( i think its 18" ) with my ammo & shot about the same as with my rifles. Good to see the tightening of his barrel nut , that was loose from the factory , is making MOA groupings & he was very happy . I have to set up to go to another range to shoot over 200 yards & up . I've never been to this range before & will have to check it out first.

I'm using a DPMS std carbine buffer with the Tubb's FW spring & it has worked well with my 16" 308.

Where to buy bolt and barrel together/ proper headspace
survivalshop replied to Cali_Ed's topic in Building a .308AR
Thats a tough call . I can only speak for the FA Barrels, but many say the Rainer Ultra match shoot well also .
