  1. I didn't know that , nice !
  2. This is another nice looking component from this company & a $ 2 bill to boot .
  3. The SI Defense will have the original rail height & the DPMS will have the new lower height rail & that may impact if you want a free float hand guard , if that is what you plan on using. Seems there are finally options on BCG's . Shadow Ops has a nice NIB coated one . I'm A Fulton Armory fan as far as there Kreiger Criterion bbl's , my 20" HB is a tac driver. There are many good ones in your list.
  4. Looks good . Get some blocks flying to see how she shoots.
  5. Well with the amount of business that is out there , they probably will suffer with a little loss , especially a custom job. Just the way it is . If it was dog eat dog business, like it used to be , it would probably not have been a problem.
  6. I just ordered a Black Nitrated M16 BCG from Shadow op's & I have been wondering about the finishes on these kind of parts . What with all the treatment types out there which type , really is better for a long lasting system . I have a few that are Chrome , & Phosphate & my newest 308 BCG in NIB , but now the Nitrated . I don't seem to have excess wear on any of them & I have one build that I built in the late seventies , with a phosphate BCG & it has the a little finish worn off , here & there , but still works fine . What happened to Melinite treatment or is that just used on Barrels or is it a form of Nitrated ? I remember the post that had a bunch of different finishes they salt tested ,but since it was from a manufacturer of one of the products , well , I took it as such . Are these new type treatments any better than Chrome or Phosphate ? They really are quite new, to have any kind of a history .
  7. We are always interested in reviews.
  8. I know one thing , I'm glad I'm not feeding it powder.
  9. Nope .
  10. I have a Romanian in 5.56x45 & it shoots very well also, kinda surprising .One of the last imports of foreign made AK's to come into the USA.
  11. Its all about the neck tension being consistent also. You can't expect all brass to be uniform in resizing . A crimp, being taper or LFCD , will do that, at least at the case mouth area. Yes, @ the case capacity of the 30'06 , powder does kinda disappear quickly , but what fun ! I just loaded about a hundred with Barnes 150 gr. TTSX bullets & IMR 4064 & was filling the powder measure often.
  12. But you can't go wrong with SST's or there GMX bullets . I load them all for hunters & they all work if you do your part .
  13. The Taper crimp die crimps by using a tapered area in the die body & by slightly & uniformly forcing the case mouth against the bullet . The Lee Factory Crimp die uses a collet type crimping , The differences are the case mouth is forced against the bullet & you can clearly see the indentations on the case mouth . It pushes from the side , unlike a roll crimp where the case mouth is folded into the cannelure. You can even put a grove in the bullet with out a cannelure . Not sure it can be done with a non lead core bullet , but I'll take a photo of the 168 gr. Hornady ( I pulled ) that put a nice grove in by using the LFCD. In my opinion the Lee can put a heavier crimp if you want , but can also lightly & uniformly force the case mouth against the bullet , like a taper crimp die. I guess I'm a convert , because I'm using the LFCD & not using the taper crimp die now a days.
  14. Disconnector not holding the hammer back .
  15. Good read here.
  16. I also used to Taper crimp everything ,but Mag. Revolver , but I am doing testing on the Lee Factory Crimp Die & still don't know for sure which is better, if at all . Doing testing on Velocity & grouping , when I can get a chance .
  17. Wonder how much that revolver weighs ?
  18. I've thought about it & may some day put a scope on the 16", just to see how they compare . There is some Chronograph results I did in the thread below this one, about short barrels & the FPS differences from the two bbl's.
  19. Wow ! I guess I should sell my 308 AR's before they wear out . I only shoot my reloads & lost count on how many I have shot through my 308 AR's.
  20. A promotion is usually a demotion, of sorts , but congrats on the new job.
  21. Sounds like BS
  22. The new spring will help & it appears the Ejector pin is a stronger design . I will have to look at all the 308 bolts I have to see what they look like & that includes the new NIB BCG I just got not too long ago .
  23. Well it looks cool & does shed some weight & adds cost, but that's abut it , IMO
  24. Rifle length gas system will add velocity to projectile compared to Mid & Carbine systems . Helps for long range shots , because you want every FPS you can get , of course . As far as how accurate each system will be compared to one or other , well that would be hard to tell ,being that two like barrels will shoot probably different any way, so it would be hard to compare . I was always lead to believe that shorter heavy barrels shoot better , but when talking long range , you have to make compromises .I wish I could tell you the comparison between my FA 16" to my FA 20" HB's but I have never put a scope on the 16"HB & have no plans to do so . I like the MBUS on her . Both barrels have rifle length gas systems .
