  1. Did it open the bolt , move the BCG back at all ? What BCG are you using ? What buffer & spring are you using ? Running her wet with oil ? Did you assemble the upper ? & I probable have more questions ,but these will work for now .
  2. 16 " HB , short stiff barrel for best accuracy out to mid ranges . For hunting the short bbl. rules & the 16" HB I have is only about 2 oz. heaver than an 18" light weight .
  3. Fulton Armory has an 18" match chrome lined barrel with phosphate outer finish. It is final hand lapped after chroming & not a bad price , But I'm kinda partial to there barrel line. Mine are all stainless steel & if you don't like the outer color , just paint it .
  4. As said above , but the 1:10 is going to work with just about any std 308 bullet, out to the mid ranges . Ya just can't go wrong with that twist rate .
  5. They say if its a 300 Whisper chamber , you shouldn't fire 300 BLK ammo out of it , but you can fire both from a 300 BLK chamber . For the guy I pissed off about the Melonite barrels & for Jgun , they have a Melonite coated ( there words, S&W ) barrel in this rifle .
  6. Is the bolt catch ,not catching the bolt on the last round & holding it open ? Are you talking about the SI or the Young's ?
  7. I too would like to hear why a FW spring is so bad . I have one in my 16 " 308 & it has made , IMO , a smoother functioning rife. I have no doubt , you are correct with your DPMS assessments .
  8. Ya that makes economic sense for a State that is losing jobs in great numbers weekly. Hope for a good out come there ,but you can relocate to Florida , we will greet you with open arms & all your staff.
  9. Depending on the manufacturer of said components , the hardening could be almost nothing or spotty at best & you have ,buy polishing , broken through some of it . Could also be , one component harder than the other . I no longer play with the std. FCG parts & just replace them with good triggers & I have worked on a lot of AR FCG's. A Dremel tool would not be my first choice to do any work on them , too easy to over do it & not know it . I use only natural stones to polish the mating surfaces up .
  10. So we ca call it the moew stock ? <lmao>
  11. Gotta agree with this post .
  12. I'm sure all that high tech. security wasn't for the normal people in attendance , but was all the so called high profile stars & elected gov. officials there . The ones they didn't tell you about . Sorry its just me . I would be surprised if they had them at normal sports events with out all the so called dignitaries . We gotta keep them safe , right !
  13. I hope the different ammo works out for ya, but the rifle should have no problem with milspec ammo , IMO. The heaver weight bullets may help ,but I think there is some thing else going on . Remember run her wet with oil & while we are on oil , what oil are you using ?
  14. I see that Smith & Wesson is going to or is making the first complete 300 Whisper & will also safely fire 300BLK rifle .
  15. I have no experience with the LNL , but I hear its a good machine & less start up $$ than a Dillon 650 . My experience with auto index machines has been that I do not want another .Not that they don't work , just its a matter of control , I have a Dillon 550B & I make it do what I want , when I want . With a auto index , you have to do a lot more if you want to go back or check some thing or if some thing screws up & yes it will at some point with all progressive machines. The Dillon's floating tool head is some what loose for a reason , it helps align ALL the stations at once . I have loaded ammo with my single stage press & compared it to my Dillon & can only say that my hand weighed charges were more consistent on the chronograph then the Dillon's bar charger . That is to be expected , they pretty much shot the same .
  16. Should secure to the extension ,just like the A2 stock . I have never used any thread locker ( just gun oil )on any receiver extension threads. Just tighten it up on the lower , there should be a set of notches for a wrench (open end type ) on the back of the extension. If you are putting this stock on a 308 , make sure you get the PRS made for the longer charging handle throw .
  17. That's the one , I couldn't remember the name . My chisel tip punch works just as good & cheaper ,but that tool is nice. Ya , Young's give some good reasons for not staking them , but I still do it.
  18. I agree , we need photo's . I have personally never heard of a back end of a receiver extension breaking off , doesn't mean it can't or won't happen . I'm going to assume this is a 308 rifle , As said the spacer & longer screw is for the longer A2 stock . To me it sounds like the receiver extension was damaged or weak before or during assembly , but that's just speculation . I have a DPMS rifle spring & buffer in my 20" 308 rifle & can take measurements if needed.
  19. Only when hunting & test firing for hunting. It doesn't get cold enough here in Florida to need them . I hunt in Ohio . Riding one of my HD's , don't count.
  20. I don't have enough time to look at this sight ,let alone others .
  21. I see mine is gone also & now I don't know who I am <laughs>
  22. As far as the photo's , how would any one know if you had (or not) a stamp on any SBR or uppers there , that's a trick question . <dontknow> The BATFE will not care if the SBR complete upper is in the garage & the complete rifle lower is in the house . It will be treated as a complete SBR . The ease of competion is what will stand up in court for the BATFE. Now if any one wants to see if this is true , just get a SBR upper( with out a stamp ) & have it locked up in you safe , with all your AR15 rifles ( or put it in the garage )& give them a call & ask if that's ok . :cookoo: NO , I don not want any one to really do that , but I'll bet any one here that you all said , no way am I going to do that , I wounder why .
  23. Glad I got the popcorn out , it was worth it . <thumbsup>
  24. So , the key would be , if you have to have a complete pistol lower around . What if you don't & have just a rifle lower around ? I can tell you with out a doubt , that ,have the SBR upper( with out a stamp ) & a AR 15 ( rifle ) lower in the same area, , they will not care if they are assembled , they will treat it as a complete rifle . Now if you have a pistol lower , that may be different . Do not make the misstake, that you think because they are separate , it doesn't count as a complete rifle . All this means nothing , if you don't get caught , of course . Just be careful . I have dealt with the BATF , now BATFE & I can tell you first hand , if they come in looking for some thing ,they will find some thing . People say , how will they know , well , you guys/gal's in LE know , it doesn't take much to start the ball rolling . Neighbor calling about suspicious activity or a pissed off girl friend , etc , you get the idea, I have seen a lot of this & have been a technical witness for lawyers for there clients & poop can & does happen . If you follow the letter of law as to the best of your knowledge , you can keep the chances of any thing happening to you legally at a minmum.
  25. Welcome . I'm no expert on scopes & you will get a lot of answers on this question . Its kinda a loaded one . I would recommend you get a round about figure you want to spend on one & that would help with some suggestions from us .
