  1. Steel , they supposedly only used these non rebuildable Driveshafts on 2004-2011 , but who knows . Mine is a two piece with a CV between the two & it & its mount , is also not replaceable . The new one is completely rebuildable & will be here tomorrow , I will take photos to share , can't wait to install it . Mine is probably still good , but it bumps taking off & its because you can't grease the slip shaft in the middle & I also noticed the rubber around the CV joint has some slop . I watched a video where a the guys mount broke for the CV & the shaft could have punctured the Gas tank, if it had happened at highway speeds . I'm not taking that chance , just about any where I go , I take a highway to get there faster . I could just pull the Shaft off & grease the Splines & reassemble , but I can't replace the CV unit or if I find a bad Universal , I can't do anything about it also.
  2. Thank you !
  3. Is the rifle Suppressed when failure occurs ?
  4. Its fixable . Do you believe its short stroking ?
  5. Not sure , you will have to count the coils & measure the length , the marks on your Buffer Face have to be from the Pin Channel on the end of the Bolt Carrier , looks like they beveled all around the back ,but not where the Channel is , thats whats leaving those marks on the Buffer Face.
  6. A REAL Assault Rifle
  7. Short stroking , Ejector & or an extractor issue . Piston systems normally don't have short stroking issues unless they have an adj. Piston system & its not adj. properly , they can also get fouled up with dirty ammo . Disassemble Bolt components & clean & inspect , also the Piston assembly , most Piston systems are hard Chrome coated & require NO lubricants , they just help to foul them up when burnt in . Does the bolt lock back on last round on a POF ? If its supposed to , see if it does , if its supposed to & doesn't , its short on Gas to cycle the BCG .
  8. I agree , photo's will help . You have a factory DPMS Sport Tactical with the Target Upper Receiver or is it someones Build ? I assume you have something like this below. Fulton Armory has the post 2009 "low " Uppers & they fit Factory DPMS lowers with out issue ( I have one of the pre 2009 high Uppers on my 20" ) http://www.fulton-armory.com/upper-receiver-far-308-flattop-dpms-low-height.aspx If they have them in stock , Tactical Machining LR 308 Uppers ( also Low profile ) fit Factory DPMS Lowers , I have one also , they come with TM's own Receiver Pins because the Factory DPMS ones will not work with the Upper ( tight ) this was a few years ago & they have been out of stock for quit a while , they are moving into a new building & stopped production for a while . Many other manufacturers make both the pre 2009 "high " & post 2009 "low " Uppers , but I have no personal experience with them .
  9. Ya know, I would wear mine in that position , but I still respect my manhood , even though its not used much the older I get . I carry mine off to the side , I would rather shoot myself in the femoral Artery .
  10. She is a major libfuk , not sure if a one night stand is even worth it . She will speak at some point !
  11. If you look at the orientation of your Bolt , the marks are in line with the feeding portion of the Bolt , where they contact the Base of the case . If its a Nitrated Bolt , that should just brush off . I don't think I have ever seen marks like that from a Bolt Carrier on a Buffer face , normally , as you know , the Buffer face will have a ring on it from the BC , but that would be with a higher round count number . Here is one from my 308 Carbine & has many thousands of rounds through it , don't see any BC markings like yours , replaced this one because I got a new one to test & thats in there now . This one is still serviceable . It is a real DPMS Buffer .
  12. https://www.ascendarmory.com Interesting & looks well made , but I think I see a bunch of proprietary components , I could be wrong , with out one in my hand , but ambi. Receiver Pins ?
  13. The Marks on your Buffer seem to be the BCG scraping the finish off it upon closing the Upper onto the Lower , as said above . Your Buffer should never touch the Retaining Pin when Rifle fully assembled ( the BCG pushes it back upon assembly ) , only when Upper Receiver is pivoted up off the Lower will the Buffer come to rest on that retaining Pin . You can file a very slight angle at the very bottom of the Pin Channel on the back Of the Bolt Carrier or just try to de-burr it to take the sharp edge off , but I see nothing abnormal , except that marking , run her wet to break in . Some finishes on these friction components will wear off quickly sometimes . Has the Head Space been checked ?
  14. Rule not applicable in this case . My question is , Where is the link for this Receiver set ?
  15. I find it strange that the Gas Tube is hitting the Barrel Nut at all , it looks like the Barrel Nut is made larger Dia. on one end or the Gas Tube is bent or coming out of the Gas Block at an angle . There is another theory , the Threads on the Barrel Nut or the Upper Receiver are not right . I actually have a old , one piece HG/Barrel Nut all in one from back in the late seventies , made of Steel no less , made by Olympic Arms , that has bad threads & the whole HG once on the Upper is not centered with the Barrel . I have an Aluminum one on an AR15 which is perfect , they were the only type available back then for a Free Float HG . Some Gas Tubes on some of these HG's Barrel Nuts are really close because of the Fact of the size of the 308AR LR Barrel . Does that Gas Tube have a step down in Dia. where its hitting the Barrel Nut ? I would have Torqued the Barrel Down , marked the area where the Gas Tube is hitting & then removed the Nut & made a flat in that area or turn it down on a lathe .
  16. Gas Tube should not touch , as you have said , get to it with the Dremel !
  17. Don't need to sell a Bike to buy a new firearm . I have far too many firearms now ( yes, its possible ), I do want to build another 1911 CC & may start that or a 6.5 CM. I am ordering a new Driveshaft for my 2005 F150 ( 140K ) , not rebuildable with out special tools & a new rebuildable is $ 530 , with Zerks , a whole hell of a lot easier on this old man .
  18. Well , I sold both my Panheads because they just sat in the Garage , like I had a Museum or something & the last time I road this one was for Bike Week in March , so no big deal ,I have a lot of room in the Garage now , might even try to park my Truck in there . They all went to good homes , so they can enjoy them , the shock to my friends about me not having a HD is kinda odd , my family thinks I have an illness & not going to make it or some crap like that , sometimes you just have to move on
  19. I found this looking for something else http://www.scopelist.com/Armalite-AR-10-A-Lower-Parts-Kit.aspx , there are parts you don't need , but you can probably make your $$ back by selling the rest of the kit to one of the few AR 10 owners here maybe even mark it up to get all your $$ back . I couldn't resist
  20. I also use a Pencil with an eraser & unsharpened , the Mag Release adj. should be felt the same as an AR 15 , no different , just that an AR 15 Catch button in a 308AR is threaded on less . It should function the same as a AR 15 , with free drop & enough to hold the Mag in place . Most 308AR Lower Receivers may be different in how much this adj. is . Its why I like the Armalite AR 10 Catch , the one posted by Washguy from KAK , I would have to look at the Pad & compare it to the Armalite catch pad , but its nice to have the extra long stem , thats for sure .
  21. Some Bassturd came & gave me cash , I couldn't say no . BY, BY, Baby
  22. Just before the GunAct or 1968 , no more mail order guns , because Kennedy was shot with one !
