This can be removed by heat or their solvent , at least thats what their sight reads . If it was permanent , how would you replace a Bearing that this Retaining compound was used on , its for replaceable Bearings , Sleeves , Wearing Rings type applications . I have an Upper Receiver that I'm switching out this week for a Neighbor , going to use this product . This stuff is not Red , its Green in color .

Welcome from Florida . You should start a new thread in the reloading section, it will get more views from us fellow reloaders.

More $$ to be made , don't blame him . What are his whole sale channels ? -
Compound linkage will make loading large cases a little easier , if the press has no play in the Ram shaft , it should be OK , but I would bet it does & that will effect loaded ammo concentricity , will still shoot well , but not match quality . RCBS is a very good brand , as is Lee . I went to a MEC with its floating Shell Holder , makes high quality ammo . I originally purchased one of the first off the line & had to return it for a replacement because of a defect in the screw in adapter for the Die , they sent me new one before I could pak the defective one to send back . My ammo with using a Forster match seating die , comes out to under 0.001 " out in concentricity , about three or four times better then using my old ( like yours ) Pacific single stage press , which I might add is forty/fifty plus years old . I got it from an old buddy of mine who was too old to mess with reloading any more . Here is the thread

It was probably rubbing on the Carrier Key . good job going back over assembly .

I guess we could think that a tight fit may not need it , but now I may be thinking a little differently , why , because of two dissimilar metals with two different expanding qualities . Not only that but just because a Barrels extension goes in tight , doesn't necessarily mean it is tight the total circumference . Gaps may not let it expand uniformly , with a sealer /filler involved , it would be more uniform & more predictable with regards to expansion . Then you have the Vibration or Harmonics involved , opens up a whole new aspect . I should of used this stuff on all the old four speed Tranny's I have rebuilt , with all their Ball, roller & Bushing type Bearings . I did use the Loctite 638 on Stainless Steel Revolver Cylinder Shims ( 0,004" ) I installed on the SI Defense Billet Upper to CMMG 308AR Billet lower Receives Pivot pion area , probably not the correct application , but it worked to hold them in place for assembly , because they Upper /Lower receiver fit was snug , but not tight & took out all play , not sure if they are still locked onto the Upper Receiver, because I no longer own the rifle , but a friend owns it, so I could look if he brings it back for any mods.or service. Note , this was all to help the Rifle with the original gun. Mags ., which it did a little , but not completely , L 7's & Gen 3 PMags fixed the FTF issue .

There are four videos in that series I posted , it goes from one to another , it was in # 3 that they talked about installing the Barrel . Makes me wonder about its use , they talk about Harmonic's & Vibration ( about the some thing ) , stiffer bond between two dissimilar Metals ? This is the Loctite I have & have used it on AR's , but not Barrel attachment , Maybe I should try it , Loctite 638 Retaining Compound . http://www.loctite.com.au/3320_AUE_HTML.htm?nodeid=8802627616769

I have noticed that some ( actually quite a few ) NIB coated Bolts are sometimes tight , even testing Head Spacing , some are tight , but with a break in round count settle right in & HS easily . If the Chamber /Bolt pass HS testing , test fire & let us know the out come .
-
Did you notice the Loctite 609 sleeve retainer they used on the Barrel extension ? Your thoughts ?
-
Thats an interesting turn around from the first email .
-
If you get emails from Criterion Barrels , you already saw this , but if you didn't , hear is a four part series on how to help get better accuracy from your rifle , builder or not . Most here know most of this stuff , but there are some things you may not .

I recommend using the same Brand Manufacturers Upper receiver as the the Lower Receiver , be it buying a complete upper or building one from a striped Upper Receiver . always check Barrels Head Space when Building or purchase the Bolt already head spaced when buying the Barrel , as you have mentioned , if using a Free Float Hand Guard , make sure the Rails line up on the Upper & HG . There are a few out there that are not compatible will one another , DPMS has several versions & Armalite is different , just to name a few . Buying a complete Upper Assembly , most times you get what they build , building your own , you get exactly what you want . -
Geez , well go for it You would have to do something , because thats too long inside for a std DPMS 308AR Carbine spring & that would cause issues , anyway . You might get the BCG hitting the back of the Lower Receiver .
-
No spring or springs of any sort ? I guess the new DPMS GII Extractor spring is not a spring , but made of Elastomer & they say it works fine & even have a kit for the LR 308AR , so two O-rings or one in your case may work .

Ya mostly because they make them & only them ( or from a outside vender ), so how many venders out there make or sell DPMS based systems , Bazillions , thats how many . If I make or sell 5 springs a year compared to someone else who makes five thousand & from various manufacturers of springs , with venders asking for different spec's to use in their proprietary rifles , who has a better chance of having a out of spec spring for a DPMS Based system ? Because some idiot manufacturer makes a Spring for their proprietary rifle & someone uses it in a std DPMS based rifle , how you going to blame the DPMS system ? Or better yet , someone who uses an AR 15 Spring or Buffer in a 308AR , we going to blame that on the DPMS based system for 308AR ? I have ordered many springs made for or from DPMS & all of them were correct & worked fine . I can tell you , if others made Armalite AR 10 Springs & sold them , you would get an occasional bad one . Thing is, there is not the demand for them as is for the DPMS based system . Doesn't meant one is better then the other . Nothing wrong with ether system, if correct components used , but their are a Bazillion more DPMS based rifles out there that work fine ,then the AR 10 , period . We can thank Mr. Stoner for both rifle systems , so it really doesn't matter what the words say on the Receiver . -
Even when using a UBR stock ?? What Extractor spring system is in the Bolt ? Two ( one inside another ) like a DPMS Bolt ?

If I saw that they a shop was charging more because of where I purchased a Bow from , I would not have work done there , thats just not right , if you take your bBow to have it worked on , & its out of tune or what ever , what difference does it make on what you have to repair or Tune , you fix it & charge accordingly , not because of where it was purchased , that in my book is BS. True ,GM sucks ,I won't miss their pricing either . I purchased very few things there , small things & thats too bad because they are close & do have a large selection & they may possibly screw more up on a Tune or assembly , but thats no reason to change more . I have also seen a archer's with new gear miss a lot, but it wasn't the Archery equipment -

Are you using that stock & Receiver Extension ? Not sure what that Stock uses , Because that is a Rifle Length Receiver Extension & appears it is a Carbine length Buffer & Spring . DPMS systems ,have to have 308 Rifle components with Rifle components & 308 Carbine components with 308 Carbine components , can't miss match the two . Armalite AR 10 components use a different system , as was noted by 98 . .Gas system has little to do with Buffer system , but saying that , you can tune a rifles recoil impulse somewhat with a Heavy Buffer & there are different weight Buffer Springs out there now a days to aid function , but std ( Rifle /Carbine ) Springs work . -

There's only around a bazillion DPMS based Carbine Buffer systems out there working fine , so saying one is better then the other , mote .
