Ive got the recon tanto in san mai. Love the knife but the handle could stand to be 1/2" longer. Im always searching local classifieds for an old japan made voyager tanto. So classic. I wont buy any of the newer china made stuff though. Same with SOG. These days most of it is Chinese, but the higher end knives are still us and japan made. Gerber....well....yuck. lol.

The pin will always tap the primer and leave a small dimple when the bolt slams closed. Free floating firing pin. No need to sweat that part. Details on your rifle build to help further.

I buy all my range ammo at https://www.targetsportsusa.com They always have cases of 556 at $300 shipped. All cases ship free. Recent sales had wolf gold, magtech, and pmc bronze at that price. The mag and pmc came in an ammo can. I had a buddy buy some wolf from them that was out of spec and no questions they sent a return label for the remainder and his choice of a new case of magtech or a smaller (equal value) case of federal to replace it.

Looks like those colt competition 556 lowers with the one piece trigger guard that were flooding the market last year. Only thing Colt about them was the roll mark. They were made by anderson.

I had the viridian. Great fit and high quality but I didnt like the button setup. Too too many options and cycling through and button taps. I prefer on and off.

Other things to think about....a SFP low power variable scope will most likely have the reticle (mil/BDC/etc) calibrated for max magnification...say 6x in this case and it will be the same size in 1x. In a FFP scope the reticle will "shrink" as you go down to 1x. This may make the reticle mostly useless at low power anyway. My 1-6x is either on 1x or 6x. I cant say ive ever used it in between so having the BDC accurate at all magnifications isnt necessary. The SFP BDC reticle is calibrated at 6x. If im shooting at something past 100yds im most likely going to be at 6x. If I dial it back to 1x the BDC is off, but the reticle is still large and easy to see so you can dope it as needed. I always buy FFP higher magnification scopes, but I dont really see the point for the 1-4x/1-6x optics.

Agree it looks like a factory upper that has been machined. Additionally, appears to be DPMS "High" Rail height for the sake of finding the proper handguard to fit it. Measure to be sure.
