  1. Are you looking for an answer beyond "Because they're a bunch of stupid fuckin' idiots!"? Jon
  2. Marlins come drilled and tapped for mounts from the factory, have for a long long time. But with that Ranch Hand he needs some sort of open sight, as it is a "handgun" with a lever ala "The Rifleman": http://www.rossiusa.com/product-list.cfm?category=17 Think of it as a cowboy's version of the AR pistols so popular today. Jon
  3. In that same vein, "Cats are so clean!" Jon
  4. Yup...I play with lever guns. :<):): A very popular up and coming peep is made by Skinner Sights. You can remove the peep from the housing and use it as a ghost ring. There are the old Williams sights standby. Skinner's use the Williams size inserts too. And then XS Sights makes lever gun sights as well. More of an express style. XS also makes a Lever Rifle Scout mount, though not sure if they make one for the Rossi. Jon
  5. "We're having steak for dinner!" Ol' Navy rumor. "Ooo...that's the biggest one I've ever seen!" Chick line. Ok...that last one isn't a rumor. Jon
  6. What are those rifles the IDF soldiers are always carrying on the news? <laughs> Jon

  11. Oh he exists alright! When I first saw him, he was looking at optics...like he was interested in those. But soon, not long at all, he gravitated to a pink anodized 10/22. You know the one! Can't wait until the others get here for HELL-FUCKIN'-DORADO DAYS!!! Jon
  12. And once that is gone, right when that Scorpion breaks in, THEN what are you going to do? Jon
  13. Can I pick my nose now? Jon
  14. It's less than 3/4, about half...reminds me of a cigarette lighter from years ago. The girl has one and likes it. Jon
  15. Tom modify firearms? Nnooooo... Jon

  17. Get her a police trade-in G23 from CDNN for like $300. After the Savage. Jon
  18. Welcome from Arizona zabo! Jon
  19. I don't have AR15s...I have 308ARs. And yes, the mags are stored loaded and ready to roll. Jon
  20. I do like it, it eats everything. I want something I can use for double duty for shotgun classes also. More of a practical "only have so much room in the safe" situation. Jon
  21. Calibrated hands...story time! Out at the flight school, the owner had been working on aircraft for like 40 years and when in a pinch, would make or alter parts by hand...you know, with files and grinders and such. One of the flight instructors had a thing for mindbender puzzles, like the horseshoes chained together, puzzle boxes, stuff like that. This one morning the instructor brought in this steel polygon with a bunch of different but equal surfaces, each surface having a square hole in it. The polygon came with a cube, approximately the same size as all the holes. The puzzle part was the cube would only fit in one of the holes going one direction...enough to drive Rubik crazy. So the instructor explains the puzzle, hands it to the owner who carefully feels both the polygon and cube for about 10 seconds, then drops the cube in a hole and shakes it around. Priceless! While learning machine tool technology the instructors paired us up on machines. One day while turning a project down, our instructor came up and asked "What are you guys doing?" Told him we were measuring to see how much more we needed to take off. He feels it up with his calibrated fingers and says "You have another 0.043" to go." Me and my lab partner looked at each other and the instructor says "Measure it!" Break out the dial caliper...it measured between 0.042"-0.043...our jaws dropped. Amazing! Jon
  22. Tell you what telluwhat...if you're up for a little bartering. Order this one: http://www.hyattgunstore.com/mossberg-930-turkey-12-ga-24-vent-rib-ported-barrel-xxfull-choke-synthetic-stock.html Then send me the barrel, mag spring, and choke tube w/wrench, and I'll send you the stuff that makes the SPX the SPX off of my SPX...the barrel, the mag extension and spring, the picatinny rail, and the ghost ring sight. Jon
  23. .45 and .40 should be different sizes. I only have one XD...a 9mm. 3 XDm's all in .45, in each barrel length, both frame sizes. Jon
  24. That's a cool rifle Tom! The running joke around Sportsman's was "I had a rifle with that camoflage on it, set it down to piss and couldn't find it again." Jon
  25. I have some of that German cupro-nickel jacket 147gr FMJ right now. It has all gone BANG every time...or maybe that's just my rifles. It was inexpensive enough though it is Berdan primed. The best...BEST surplus EVER was some mid-1990s Hirtenberger 147gr FMJBT. Shot like match ammo. Had some South African surplus that shot well enough and always went bang. Avoid anything from Hindu or Muslim countries. Jon
