The M1903 series are very cool rifles! At the insistence of the brass, they were designed with a magazine cutoff which prevents the bolt from travelling far enough rearward to pickup a round out of the magazine. Rounds were to be loaded one-by-one for aimed fire. The magazine was only to be used if given the command. Brass was worried about wasted ammunition and the high rate of fire. Garands are cool too. The parent rifle of the M14/M1A, Beretta BM-59, the USA was the only army with a standard issue semi-auto at their entry into WWII. Jon

Ordered a Hornady Magnum Sonic Cleaner back in my sabbatical, not having a chance to use it until June. Used it once to clean brass, which it did GREAT on! Went to do a second batch and was unable to start the ultrasonic function...could still adjust the temp up and down, and the timer up and down...just wouldn't start the cleaning cycle. Rather than send it back to MidwayUSA for a no question exchange, I called Hornady to see if I could trouble shoot it and get it working. Spoke to Doug who said "Not that I know of but I can send you a new one!" Got my address and is sending me a shipping label with return auth # too! I'll let you all know how it works out. Jon

I ordered one of those after reading the reviews on MidwayUSA. Was using it on some .32acp cases for the very first time and it quit working on the 17th case...some gear inside came loose and everything quit turning. Pissed me off. Sent it back and Midway gave me full credit. Jon

Good job telluwhat! Short answer is no. You will need one for shotgun separately. You can do rifle and pistol on the same press. I like the Lee presses for rifle and pistol and have mostly their dies also. Had an issue with .30-30 RCBS dies, though some swear by them. If I were going to start from scratch today I would get set up with a Lee Turret press. A single stage is hard to beat also. I know a dude that has a documented 700,000+ rounds on a Lee Turret Press, so don't think they won't hold up to what you're doing. Shotgunners all swear by MEC shell reloaders. The Lee looks chinsy and the others are darned expensive. I need to get setup for shotgun loading also. Jon

I'll also add that his comment on the photo of the SWAT guy with the single-point sling, leading to that "very common" self-inflicted shooting of enter above the knee and fragment, shattering all the bones beneath...makes me happy I listened to the anti-single-point sling crowd. Although their argument was "If you don't hold your weapon with a single-point the muzzle slams you in the nuts." <laughs> Jon

I found it more interesting later in the handgun portion of his lecture. Essentially saying, and this is paraphrased, no handgun bullet is efficient as a rifle bullet is, so shot placement is critical. Also how the super-expando blappo hollow points sometimes lack the penetration to get to vitals...once expanded. The x-rays are interesting. Jon
