  1. Wise move. A man's gotta know his limitations when it comes to auctions (and stick to them). <thumbsup>
  2. LOL! The Outer Limits! I had nightmares over that episode when I was a kid!
  3. Thanks Survivalshop, that info helps. If they are basically the same powder and your getting that kind of performance from the stuff you have then the stuff Wideners sells should work okay for me. I'm basically looking at loading plinking ammo for shooting out to no more than about 200 yards.
  4. Is WC 846 the same powder as the pulldown 846 that Wideners sells?
  5. Time to take out the trash in November! >:(
  6. There are some great ones on the list, but my pick would be dreadnaught.
  7. There was one in my DPMS Panther AR-15 when I got it and I have never bothered to take it out. It has never caused any problems.
  8. And you live where? <munch>
  9. +1 The house I have now and the one before this one both HAD pools. I filled them both in with dirt after jackhammering the tops of the walls off. When my son got out of the Border Patrol academy he signed a 6 month lease on a house with a pool and when the lease was up he moved out. He said he would never again have a pool!
  10. I don't think Lurch was ever capable of making that long of a statement! <laughs>
  11. Day two must have been rough having to work in the dark like that! <lmao> Looking good though. When it's all done and you sit back with a cold one you'll know it was all worth it! <thumbsup>
  12. Like planeflyer said, you NEVER shoot to kill! You shoot to stop the person from doing whatever it was he was doing to make you have to shoot him and once he ceases his actions you stop shooting. If he dies as a consequence of your having to shoot him then so be it.
  13. A little follow-up to the story on the shot burglar who had to call 911 on his own phone. I dealt with the perp several times during my LEO career and there is no doubt in my mind that had the old man not shot him, the perp was very capable of taking the old guy's gun from him and using it on him! The last I had heard, the perp was in a hospital in El Paso fighting an extremely bad abdominal infection from the gut shot (the ammo was cast bullet reloads) and it was touch & go for him.

    Raw material

    That's how stuff usually starts! <lmao> <thumbsup> <munch>
  15. Wally World here carries the Tula ammo in both .308 and .223. I've been using the .308 stuff in my DPMS with no problems. I should be up and running on reloading .308 on my Dillon in the next few weeks so I probably won't be buying any more of the Tula but wouldn'y hesitate to use it again.
  16. Had a situation similar to that a while back here. Funny thing about it was that the old guy who shot the intruder didn't have a phone so the intruder had to call 911 on his own cell phone to get help after he was shot! <lmao> From the Deming Headlight - By Matt Robinson, Headlight Staff - A home intruder was shot on the evening of Thursday, Feb. 2 as he attempted to charge the home owner. Authorities were tipped off when the failed home intruder called Central Dispatch with his cellular phone seeking help for his two gunshot wounds. Justin Hull, 32, suffered two gunshot wounds after he broke into a home on the 5000 block of Amapola Road in the county. The home owner, a 62-year-old man, had called the Luna County Sheriff's Office to his residence earlier that evening because he had noticed some of his personal items stacked in a strange way. According to Capt. Arturo Baeza, of the LCSO, the home had been burglarized in early Dec. 2011 and the home owner suspected the stacked items were awaiting pickup by intruders. The LCSO conducted its investigation of the oddly-stacked items, then left when they concluded everything was fine. The home owner then sat in his property - which does not have heat or electricity, according to the LCSO - and waited. "He hears a bam and the door flew open and there's this guy charging in," Capt. Baeza said, reading from the LCSO report. "The guy closed distance on him and he (home owner) shot at him three times." The owner was able to connect with the intruder on two shots from his .45-caliber pistol. Hull suffered gunshot wounds to his right leg and beneath his rib cage on the left side of his torso. "We got tapes from the 911 call where he admitted he broke into this guy's house," Capt. Baeza added, noting the call was received at about 10:40 p.m.
  17. Went over to my son's last night for a cookout. He had just taken som hotdogs off the grill and when I saw them I thought WTF? they looked like some raggedy ass dogs! My wife then informed me that he had wrapped them in bacon! What can I say, it was gettin kinda dark out! Pretty good dogs though.
  18. The Whitewater/Baldy fire is BAD here! I'm about 100 miles south of it and the smoke is so bad here that my wife's asthma has been really bad, and she's indoors all the time at work (the local hospital). Here's a link to a news article some friends of mine are in (the Corbells). http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032619/vp/47667362#47667362 They have a straw bale house up in Glenwood,NM which is only a mile or two from the fire. So far they have been lucky and the fire has not shifted towards them but they are on pins & needles every day.
  19. ROFL! <lmao> I think that is a great idea! <thumbsup>
  20. Material, there are a lot of aluminum gas blocks out there.
  21. Latest word from Miami law enforcement is it is suspected that the perp was on a particularly nasty form of LSD that has recently hit the streets in the Miami area. The stuff amps up your core temperature making you do all you can to cool off, hence the perp and victim being naked. There have been several other incidents over the last few weeks involving users of the LSD who were naked also, all in the Miami area apparently. :cookoo:
  22. A little heads up on federal LEO credentials, it is a nono for them to copy their ID's! Being Pres. of the New Mexico region Choir Boys LEMC I've run into this issue before.

    Got pork?

I've heard that there are feral hogs down in the bootheel of New Mexico. I need to check with a friend of mine who ranches down in that area and see if it's worth going down there for. I had a 'Boar Burger' at Fuddruckers in El Paso the other night. It was pretty good!
  24. I agree! :cookoo:
  25. No cameras here, but several loaded guns and a couple of loud dogs! <thumbsup>
