  1. 98 clarified my suggestion perfectly, factory built an Armalite is a great rifle, Aero parts for a build might be more satisfying in the end. I would suggest a 16-18 inch barrel, Criterion is one I plan on owning myself but there are lots of good Barrel makers out there. Buy a LaRue MBT trigger, solid quality, best trigger for the price point by far. Buy a factory Armalite buffer system, they sell kits for carbine and A2 stocks. These Armalite parts will work with a Aero/DPMS pattern build all day long.
  2. Sounds like a sweet spot for sure, nifty looking sight there.
  3. Great looking scope from a very respected maker, if I was only allowed one I might opt more the direction of a model with proven long term reliability than cutting edge tech, but I'm betting it will not really be your only scope I didn't find where they said anything about the illuminated reticle being NV capable?
  4. Of those three I would say Armalite, got one and it has been a fantastic rifle. Best route would be building one, Aero sells great builders kits and is a very well known platform.

Looks a bit bigger than our Cottontails, nice shot!
  7. Done, had some Dvor bucks to burn so another bargain!
  8. No time on an AR Gold but the feel of the MBT is right there with the Geissele SSA, I actually prefer the wider shoe on the MBT. What is too light?
  9. Primary Arms had a few A*B Arms Urban Sniper stocks in FDE on clearence for just under $60, Looked like inspiration for a new build...... https://www.primaryarms.com/ab-arms-ar-15-urban-sniper-stock-fde
  10. Easy answer, no evaluating possibilities, no gauging likelihoods, just general preparedness for the things I don't know I don't know.
  11. MoZee IPA from Toppling Goliath Brewing in Decorha Iowa. Has a sweet, tropical fruit aroma but the taste is more on the citrus end. Grapefruit, orange rind, a tart pineapple, some mango and a faint malty sweetness are just a few of the flavors. It is very thick with that light fizzy carbonation and an oily hops finish. Another tasty offering from TG. Found an oak aged IPA from these guys I'm looking forward to. They have released a bunch of aged stouts but they don't seem to be appearing in my area....yet.
  12. I would feel comfortable with either. I have decided between BA and Faxon twice on different builds and used one of each, no regrets with either of the barrels. I've built rifles for others that used Criterion and was super impressed with them, fit and finish plus accuracy. But given your choice I'd save the $40 and get the BA. My LGS told me last week that Aero was buying up the rest of BA "soon". I cannot confirm anything on this with google searches but he is usually dead on. If true, and given both BA and Aero's aggressive marketing there very well might be some good sales to come. ?
  13. The man has come through again, MBT's for $87 through July 4th and beyond! Feel bad for anybody that paid the $125 during the last couple days, feel bad for Geissele as well, they will have to change that business plan soon! I see cheaper triggers for all in 2019. https://www.larue.com/products/larue-tactical-mbt-2s-trigger/?utm_source=LaRue+Newsletter&utm_campaign=0d9cacbd11-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_12_28_02_54&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_eca3a85af8-0d9cacbd11-309743989&mc_cid=0d9cacbd11&mc_eid=1821b69c35 The Dead Center of Precision ™ LaRue MBT New Year Resolution Sale !! $87 each through July 4th and beyond !! https://www.larue.com/products/larue-tactical-mbt-2s-trigger/
  14. I don't believe it will. It is for the DPMS G2, a totally different platform size wise. I think the M5 is the high style but better confirm that from this link; https://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/category-s/312.htm
  15. Try making some paraffin soaked cotton rolls with jute twine woven in, the jute starts real easy and the paraffin soaked cotton burns a good while giving a nice long window to get something going plus it is waterproof, you can take a tab out of a cup of water, fluff the jute and it will start and burn right away. Here is a link with pictures of the rolls Jacob sells; https://www.beachintactical.com/product-page/beachin-tactical-emergency-fire-kit
  16. Handed out 8 more of these kits over Christmas. Every grandkid with a drivers license has one and been shown how it works, most actually paid attention! ?
  17. Tried to run a little fire starting class at Christmas this year. Only two of the boys wanted to go outside and try it. I showed them it is possible then went through the basics like get your materials prepared before you strike the spark, find or create a dry surface, wind direction, etc. Then explained the items in my kit, Ferro rod, striker, starter tabs with wax jute, fatwood kindling, wire saw, exacto blade, compass, and an emergency card. I told them if they can start a fire then I will give them a kit, both nailed it pretty easy, couple of mothers were not real happy but then they will have to get over it. I have a feeling next year class enrollment will be a bit higher judging by all the examinations of the kit that went on later.
  18. If it makes you feel better I still think it is a big pile of
  19. Gotta roll'em one more time and the chance helps me justify in my mind buying triggers that have no home.... Yet.
  20. One more LaRue MBT while the sale is good, hope they can keep selling that trigger cheap; https://www.larue.com/products/larue-tactical-mbt-2s-trigger/
