  1. It should be apparent now to anyone with a functioning brain stem that BO is a pu$$y and muslim lover/apologist. It should also be apparent that there is no true leadership, anywhere, not just in the US, but in the world. No spines, no character, nothing. The world is swirling the drain.
  2. Ooow! They found "shell casings" at the scene from an "AR 15 style" rifle. Oooow, what an indictment! That's the most important thing yahoo can report? How about the shooter's rap sheet? Race? Intentions? His affiliations? How about some facts? The final paragraph is irrelevant and idiotic, as it has nothing to do with the actual incident. This is not reporting, this is deliberately inflammatory nonsense.
  3. Hey, you have any ranges up your way? If so, want to get together, have some coffee and shoot some weekend morning? I'm on the Northshore.

  4. Congrats on a great rifle. A true classic. Shoot her for a while before you do anything with it other than give it a good thorough cleaning. If you do let someone "refurbish" it, PM me and I'll let you know who NOT to let touch it. There are a lot of hacks who claim to be experts in Garands. These a$$holes shouldn't be allowed to touch a piece of bar stock much less a Garand.
  5. Get onto Youtube and search. There are so many videos on how to machine an 80%! You can use a hand drill. the GenesisCNC folks have a video coming out soon wherein one of their 8 year old daughters machines an 80%. You can do it.
  6. I suspect after the rifle breaks in and you get the gas block to it's final adjustment (you didn't really think you were done, did you?) the rifle will ease up on the brass. That seems to be the trend with my rilfles. Well done. You use the bits and endmills Genesis supplied?
  7. WOW! Buy that pilot a beer, or three.
  8. Very slightly used PWS Triad 30 cal flash hider/compensator. $40 plus shipping. Works exactly as advertised, just looking to get a different device. PM me through site. mineralman55
  9. A word of warning to everyone here. I'm sure we all try to practice good range procedures, but we cannot really affect those around us. I welcome new shooters to the sport, but if I observe bad behavior, I politely tell them what is wrong. If that doesn't correct it, I'll tell the RO if he hasn't already seen it... and then leave. I won't be around idiots. The unfortunate things is I'm observing more and more poor range technique recently, even at well run ranges. Two incidents happened recently at two different ranges states apart that make me leery of everyone on the range. One old fa&t and his wife were at one end of the rifle range with an AK just spraying bullets everywhere downrange. I watched as the wife turned and pointed the rifle right at her husband with a magazine in (don't know if it had rounds or not.) I immediately yelled to her "Muzzles downrange!" she caught herself and did so. A few minutes later we called a stop in the action to change targets. The rules are posted on the range for everyone to be behind the red line when shooters are down range. The old fa&t sat at the bench fiddling with his rifles. I went down to him and politely said he's got to be behind the line. He deliberately ignored me. I packed up and left as did another family that was at the range. I called the range owner that night (a friend) and told him about the incident. He assured me that man and wife will never be allowed on the range again. At a closer to home range I had it to myself and the RO (a doddering old guy) for a while. Then two older couples/asshats showed up. Screwing around downrange, not getting targets up in a timely manner (you pay by the hour at this place) wasting my time. Then while the range is hot, one jackass decides he is going to shoot his pistol from in front of the bench! A few minutes later, the other asshat has a jam in his .22 rifle. He turns it sideways on the range so it is pointed along the firing line to clear it! I yelled at him, packed up, and left. Went into the clubhouse where the owner was and relayed the incident. He immediately went out to the line to take action. No matter what, you have to keep your guard up, and hopefully these incidents won't turn into another tragedy.
  10. Not trying to resurrect an old thread, but I thought this might belong here. I had a chance to test out two different muzzle devices side by side. I have the PWS Triad on my 308Mega, and a SLR mini-comp on my 308TNArms-Aero. This is not remotely scientific but it answered some questions for me. I shot them side-by-side, five rounds at a time, same KAC sights on each rifle, the Syrac gas blocks adjusted just enough to reliably function, same reloads throughout the "test" (42.8 grains Match Rifle, Sierra 168 BTHP, LC cases, Win LR primers). Five rounds one, five rounds the other, repeat. Over 60 rounds this way. I can say the SLR really let me get back on target quicker. It is a really fine little device. In fairness, the PWS is billed first as a flash hider with some compensating abilities, and it did a good job, but the SLR was really so much better, It's an amazing little device. I may have to get another. Anyone want a Triad, cheap?
  11. I've got the KAC on three rifles. I love them. They are extremely well made, very fine adjustments for windage and elevation on the rear sight, elevation on the front sight which doesn't need a tool to adjust. That is big! I have the new Magpul BUIS on a rifle. The rear is the windage-only version, the front is elevation adjustable without a tool. They are ruggedly built. Both are good, but I prefer the KAC sights.
  12. Congrats! Enjoy retirement. Don't forget, you are old enough to say "No!"
  13. Just to make sure, you have a DPMS lower? You don't explicitly say that. The contours in front of the stock extension post on the lowers are different, so not everyone's upper fits everyone's lower as on the AR15. You might try the Aeroprecision M5 uppers. They are periodically on sale.
  14. Resurrecting an older thread, I finished testing out the Win 748 in both 5.56 and 7.62. Kind of disappointing overall. Worked acceptably enough in the 5.56 with 77 grainers. Was poor with the 168 grainers in the 7.62. Groups looked like a shotgun blast at 100 yds. Side by side comparison with reloads of 42.8 grains of Match Rifle powder under the Sierra 168 BTHP, the groups shrank to ~2MOA (iron sights). This is not to denigrate Win 748. I know many others have used it with success, it just doesn't work for me. I'll use up what's left, but keep working with Match Rifle, Varget, Reloader15 and AA2520 (when I can find it.) Really like the Match Rifle so far.

  16. Irrelevant. Something as insignificant as the Pacific Ocean isn't going to stop a Marine. Put floats on it, convert the tires to paddle wheels, and drive.
  17. get in your car, turn the ignition, check the mirror, put it in drive.
  18. Oh, I don't know about that...
  19. Van, not Dan. (sorry.) (Craw, not Craw! for those of us older folks.)
  20. Now that I have this rifle working properly, I decided to get rid of the stock trigger and drop in the Rough Justice trigger that is languishing in my parts bin. It didn't take long, very easy install. The trigger felt air-light just dry firing, and I could tell it was a major improvement over the stock trigger in the LPK. I finally got out to the range yesterday, and the instant I set up on the bench the skies opened up with torrential downpours and lightning. The RO came over and showed me a weather map on his phone. Long wait. I was so mad. I said "F it. I'm waiting it out." 30 minutes later the rains finally subsided, everything was soaked and muddy. Happy Father's Day. Undeterred, I decided to slog through it. Put up some targets, and began. OH MY! THIS TRIGGER IS INCREDIBLE! Training says you are supposed to be surprised when the rifle goes off. Yeah, I was surprised! All you have to do is think of it and it goes off. It takes some getting used to but is definitely worth it. Sharp, crisp, no creep. I can see why so many like the RJ trigger. Dan, please get these back up and on the shelf soon.

  24. I'm generally well informed on most things, keeping an ear open for anything and everything. But I haven't seen a peep about this. Man with concealed weapon helps stop mass shooting in Houston. Anyone else see this in the news? Crickets... http://bearingarms.com/bob-o/2016/05/31/concealed-carrying-hero-battled-mass-shooter-houston-media-silent/
