    IMR 4064

I have one for you. 168 gr bullet (I have used Hornady A-max & Nosler moly coated Ballistic Silver Tips) Winchester cases (full consistent prep) Remington #9 1/2 LRP (I am going to try with CCI BR-2 and see what happens) 43.5 grains IMR 4064 (a few grains below book max) With consistent brass prep my chrono showed very low extreme spread with velocity, single digit spread. Accuracy is good and in my 16" barrel velocity averaged about 2500 fps. Chrono'd with the 168 A-Max load.
  2. Great time to go MEGA!!! <thumbsup>
  3. That's strange. Mine doesn't have any gear or whatever. It's just what looks like a high grade tool steel mill bit, a housing and a bearing. I've trimmed much with it already and no problems. Trims cases to .001" +/-
  4. That sounds cool I'd like one of those. I just picked up a ultra sonic cleaner from Harbor Freight last week for $30. I can put 20-25 .308 cases in there. In only has a 3 minute cycle time so I have to hang out and hit the button for maybe 3-4 cycles. I'm just using distiller water and lemon juice it works okay on primer pockets and inside of cases. Still not perfect though in the pockets.
  5. If Ryan voted for NDAA then fornicate him!!! I was so sure he wouldn't have voted for that I didn't even check. WTF!!! we are screwed no matter who wins, they all traitors & I don't know where to turn <dontknow> (goes back to brass annealing)
  6. I've got a woody <laughs>
  7. Yeah that's a big problem for me and makes no sense. I wonder what he got for that vote. Anyone know how he voted with NDAA? Anyway, epic improvement over Sotoro/Biden, if who's in office really does matter when it comes to holding off the NWO, which I doubt though because in the end I think they all end up working for the Rothchild/Rockefeller Illuminati types, whether they like it or not.
  8. It is 4 or 5 boxes of A-Max or a 8 pounder of powder or 250 pieces of new Win .308 cases. But I would say it would probably speed brass prep up significantly especially when you need trim and debur. For trimming I just on Saturday got in the mail this and it is awesomely fast and consistent > http://www.littlecrowgunworks.com/wft.html That thing cost me less than 3 boxes of A-Max.
  9. That's good <thumbsup> I at present have just finished lots of brass prep and am starting to load CFE + 178 A-Max. I bought 2# of CFE223 the other day. Wish me luck my brother.
  10. Great parts list there <thumbsup>
  11. Soooooo, pics do we get any pics? I wants them pics, please.....
  12. Bob, Dude!!!! Where the heck have you been? <dontknow>
  13. Jon, thank you for this story telling. Your father a hero. Rest In Peace, Stan <thumbsup>
  14. <lmao> how many times have I had the sleeping leg syndrome just from this forum alone? If you ever see an infomercial with a new throne design for sale that might be me making a fortune <thumbsup> On the other hand Communist America may not allow that?
  15. There's more than one way to skin a cat!! I'm going to try to find a node in a reduced CFE223 charge with 168's. Some people think CFE is temp insensitive yet I've heard others don't think so <dontknow> I want to use it because the stuff comes out clean, and the velocities are great but maybe at the expense of our uppers and brass = wallets. We'll nail it somehow. Yes those buffers are expensive. I cringed when I put out for mine, but your gun will run better.
  16. seasprite, I probably won't shoot anything lighter than 155. The lightest I have shot are 168. I've just started dabbling with 178's and had a few halfway decent groups with the CFE223 doing a little testing with 178 A-Max. The brass came out way better than with the 168 A-Max over CFE, and I shot the 178 CFE loads immediately after the 168's. I don't know why it turned out that way but it did. I just picked up some 180 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips for a different load with another powder to try. But I'm low on the CFE now so I need some to try more of it under the 178's, around those groups that showed promise. I think my barrel wants to eat heavier meals, but IMR 4064 and the 168 A-Max seems to go good together, single digit ES & SD and they group well, I know now with the new scope. Try it sometime, 168 A-Max 43.5 grains IMR 4064 (it's 2 grains below book max) Remington #9 1/2 LRP (is what I was informed to use) 2.800" but I want to work with the depths. 2505 fps average out of my 16" and SD of 3.5 fps <thumbsup>
  17. I have Clint's CAR 10-XH heavy buffer & modified Armalite spring for .308 is the heavier 6.5 oz. buffer. Still, like your experience, I was getting bent case head rims, from the extractor, trying to run those CFE223 loads with the 168's. It was a warmer day that day and I wonder if the powder is temp sensitive? Because the same loads weren't doing this before on the cooler day.
  18. I'm lucky, my last job they paid for everybody, who needs to wear safety glasses, to be outfitted with a new prescription set. Got to chose from lots of frames. I got a sporty 2 tone style. $400. The company laid off 1100 of us a week later and files bankruptcy, gee I wonder why <laughs> :o On second thought me thinks I not so lucky <lmao> Those glasses are now my shootin' glasses <thumbsup>
  19. Yeah I need to do that dry fire thing, it would help a lot. Went to range and scope makes a huge difference. I'm glad I broke down and got it. I can see the holes from 100 easily now so I don't even really need to take the walk during cease fire. I'm going to try 1/2" dots to shoot at now, I was using 2". Glass is good enough for this, I wish my eyes were younger though.
  20. Some stuff they have is Tempilac. You can get some to react at 650 deg, 700 deg whatever. Paint a stripe of it on the inside of neck and when it changes color as the brass gets to that temp the brass is annealed.
  21. Yep, seasprite I still need to update my thread. I went the other day to the range. I had alot of that going on with the ejector pulling back on the case with seemingly too much force, rims being bent back a smidge on new Winchester brass. Can't use that brass anymore obviously. I think for my rifle there is too much pressure going on. I have slash's CAR 10 XH buffer too and adjustable gas block that I did try adjusting down with no luck. I think if I want to keep trying with this powder and the 168 gn I need to reduce the load, do a milder OCW. However I did bring a batch for a OCW test using the 178 grain A-Max. Interestingly I did not encounter this rim bending issue with these loads. The primers looked better too, a little cratering on some of the 168 batch. But everything looked fine with this 178 Amax and CFE223 batch, including some groups. I used a starting load of 44.4 grains of CFE223 under the 178 Amax and I ended at 46.2. I have no chrono data, unfortunately. At 44.7 gns CFE there was a 1.12" group. At 45 gn it was a little over 2" maybe one was a flyer. I'm going to work on this load.
  22. It doesn't hurt to try. Heavier are all the better for longer range too, but since you don't scope that should not be of concern. but I chose 168 & 175 for you anyway. I'm going to get some Nosler Accubond 180's and try in my AR. I got a good tip on a load from someone.
  23. I'm on it brother unforgiven <thumbsup>
  24. Howza bouza trigger upgrade too <thumbsup> <munch>
  25. <lmao> "All members of the unorganized militia have the absolute personal right and 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms of any type, and as many as they can afford to buy." <munch>
